We offer full service locksmith services. Our shop location at 4448 Nicollet Ave S. is open to the public on a walk in basis providing new hardware, rekeying services, key duplicates, safe work and more. We also provide on location service work.

I had a simple project: re-​key our new home and swap out a couple of dual cylinder locks with singles. I wanted to arrange for the job via email, but it was clear they wanted me to stop by their shop. Which I guess I can understand from the business’s point of view. Anyway, I dropped by their shop and talked with a gruff man. But the man they sent out for the job was quiet and friendly and we chatted briefly about books. Having worked with another locksmith company before for a much larger job (rekeying a small condo building), I felt Minneapolis Lock & Key’s rates were a little high. Overall, a good experience and I would recommend them to others.

I inherited an old grandma car from my grandmother, and unfortunately this grandma car had no key for the doors and trunk. For the first 5 years I had this car, I didn’t have a problem because I could use the remote to open the doors and trunk, but when the remote system eventually failed I needed to finally get a key made. The guys at Minneapolis Lock & Key did an excellent job. They know their stuff, got me a new key made in 30 minutes, and charge a fair and competitive price for their excellent service. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with them.

If you’re in Minneapolis and need a lock or key, I might suggest Minneapolis Lock & Key.
Most hardware stores didn’t have the right kind of key for my Buick, and the ones that did all charged $ 69.99, but this place only charged me $ 50.

I just moved into a new house that had broken locks and a mess of keys, and called Minneapolis Lock & Key to have the locks re-​keyed. Brian came out and was super helpful — he re-​keyed several various manufacturer locks so I only have to deal with one key, and suggested I switch from scary double-​cylinder locks to thumb turns, which is so much safer. He pointed out some flaws in the doors, fixed them and made sure the locks and entire doors were working smoothly. There is such a difference now — all of the doors and locks operate so much more smoothly than before. He had everything he needed with him so it was an incredibly fast process at a pretty reasonable price. Definitely give Minneapolis Lock and Key a call if you need a locksmith!
