You do not strive to provide great service. your guys looked at me like a chance to extract all the money from addon services. I was disrespected and its not the first time. its a part of Midas culture to take advantage of people and pump the bill. I went in for a simple über inspection and received warnings, reprimand, and berated for not changing oil. I was being sold things in a covert way that I did not need or want with the added complimentary courtesy inspection that was not part of the über inspection. The dude gave me smudgy inspection paper folded so it was hard to read and scan. But the complemtary paperwork was clean and pretty. The über paper was disgusting with finger prints from grease and looked like a 70s FAX. I can send you copy if you want. Looks like the entire focus was on getting me to buy more stuff and when I did not they failed my wife’s car which we took down the road and it passed. I’m truly disgusted with Midas. Unless you want to hire me to fix your corporate culture and global reputation then do not speak to me. I have skin in the game. Your company is in trouble and sick with abuse. I see it and its only a matter of time if left alone before Midas will either shape up for have its lunch eaten by the competition that treats its customers like humans and not cattle.

Matt and Daniel were awesome. I stopped with no appointment with my Lexus at 4:00 on a Friday with a leaky exhaust. They collaborated on a solution and had it fixed by 5:15. Great attitude! Great customer care! Thanks guys!

This happened several years ago and I remembered it because a similar thing happened to a friend there recently.
I was getting my brakes done– they told me my tie rods needed to be replaced, brought me out to garage to show they were original– still had undercoating on them. This cost several hundred bucks to get tie rods done in addition to brakes. I saved my receipts.
18 months later, brakes are squealing again like crazy. They are guaranteed for life– so back I go to Midas on Lyndale. The guarantee only covers the pads– the cheapest part– not the labor or shop fees. So I have to pay again. They also mention that I need new tie rods– mine are original. I was shocked as I know I paid this same shop for front tie rods 18 months ago. They again bring me out in shop– show me how mine are covered in original undercoating-​proves they have never been changed. I tell them to take my car down– I drive home– get receipts proving they swindled and cheated me 18 months ago and go back. They were barely apologetic about it– just like «yeah– it happens when we get busy. We will change them for free now.» FOR FREE? WTF? It’s not free if I paid for it and MIDAS DID NOT DO THE WORK. Avoid these crooks like the plague. We have never been back, and will never go back. Consider yourself warned.

Worst service I have ever had. The manager was unhappy with me that one of HIS guys quoted me a price. Then «magically» my breaks didn’t work after they worked on a baring. They also took 3 days to fix that baring. Never even got a sorry. Never again will I go to a Midas.

I would give zero stars if I could! I have been a long time customer of this particular midas and have always been very satisfied with their work. However, this time, there was a new manager and what must have been new employees. That is the only reason I can find for their horrible and neglectful work. I received a radiator flush and brakes, front and back. After leaving I could immediately tell there wasn’t something right with my car. I didn’t get a chance to look under the hood until the following day and when I did I was shocked. They had left my air filter casing open with my air filter half hanging out. If that wasn’t bad enough they also had put way too much radiator fluid in to the point it was overflowing out of the overflow reservoir! When I brought this to their attention the manager refused to apologize. I had to go back for them to suck the excess coolant out and not the tech that worked on my car or the manager would take ownership for the mistakes that were made. They instead made lots of excuses. So now it’s 2 months later and I’m at a different midas where they are fixing the mistakes the other one made when installing my brakes. Do not go to midas on 54^th and lyndale unless you want them to do everything wrong!

I believe Midas attempted to sell me approximately $ 550 in parts and service that my truck did not need and pulled a bait-​and-​switch on the brake job they did do.
I took my 1999 Chevy S-​10 in for new front brakes and, after checking it out, I was told by the mechanic that I needed two new tie rods and a new ball joint as well. I asked if he was certain and he replied that he was.
This struck me as very curious as I had brought my truck to Midas directly from the service department at Jim Lupient Chevrolet in Bloomington, MN. I had the truck in their shop for a top to bottom check of everything that was wrong with it as I am moving to Seattle and wanted to make sure it was up for the drive west. Lupient gave me a full report and I had them fix everything that was wrong, except the brakes. I did not have them repair the brakes as I had called Midas and was quoted brake work at $ 350 instead of the $ 630 that Lupient would charge. Thought I would save a few bucks
Now, all of this means that within hours of Lupient telling me everything was good-​to-​go (except brakes) on my truck, Midas is saying I have three bad parts. I was a bit skeptical.
I had Midas do the brake work but declined the ball joint and tie rods. After the repair and as I was paying, I explained that the truck had just been at Lupient for full inspection and repair (except brakes) and asked why he thought Lupient would have missed the joint and tie rods. «I don’t know» was the answer. I let it drop at that point.
I then asked why I was being charged $ 562 for the brakes when I had been quoted $ 350 on the phone just days earlier. That was the price I was told. Not much I could do at this point on that either.
Next, I left Midas and called the service manager at Lupient I had been working with, Chad, and explained what had happened. He explained that they had checked the tie rods and ball joints and they are all in good shape and then offered to double check if I would bring the truck in. I took it in right away.
Once the truck was on the lift, Chad brought me to the shop and explained what good tie rods looked liked and had the mechanic demonstrate that there was nothing wrong with mine. Further, the mechanic inspected the ball joints and found no issues. At this point, a second service manager and a second mechanic walked up and took a look as well. They stated that there is nothing wrong with my tie rods or ball joints and that they are in good shape. As such, two mechanics and two service managers saw no issues with my parts but one mechanic at Midas did.
You make your own determination as to how and why Midas saw defective parts where Lupient Chevrolet found none after two inspections and why the price mysteriously increased on the brake job.
I just know that I will not be doing business with Midas again.

This Midas negligently installed struts in my car, made it unstable on the road, and failed three times to diagnose the problem. And then complained when I brought it elsewhere to get it fixed.
This started when I brought a used car in for a pre-​purchase inspection at another Midas. They told me my struts were leaking, and needed to be replaced ASAP. I bought the car, but heeded their advice, and brought it into this more conveniently located Lyndale Midas. I was overcharged slightly, but in general, the strut installation seemed to be fine.
Fast-​forward a few months and I start to notice that there’s a rattling sound in my car, and it seems unstable when I go over bumps. I brought it into Midas. They told me it was a broken exhaust bracket, and «fixed» it. I came back and found that they apparently hadn’t even driven the car, because the sound was completely unchanged. What’s more, they’d also left a permanent marker stain on my dashboard. I brought it back to complain, and they said my spare was just loose. They tightened it down and sent me on my way. Sound was still there. I came back a third time, and they said they didn’t have time to look at it, since they were closing.
Instead, I brought it to Richfield-​Bloomington Honda, who quickly diagnosed my problem: a bolt securing one of my struts was stripped during installation, making the strut loose and the wheel unstable. They were able to solve the problem. I went back to Midas to ask for a refund on the struts. The assistant manager was arrogant and almost angry that I would suggest such a thing. He brought my complaint to the general manager, who reluctantly agreed to pay the Honda bill, but nothing more. I even offered to return the struts (that they damaged in installing!) in exchange for a refund, and he refused, saying they couldn’t accept damaged parts.
This business is not BBB-​accredited. They do not seem to care about their customers’ safety, and certainly not the customers’ satisfaction in the business. In fact, their idea of resolution seems to be the bare minimum to make it not worth the customer’s time to go to conciliation court.

I was traveling from Texas to Minnesota for a wedding when my car broke down. I had no spare time to wait around and this was the closest place to where I was staying so I just took it straight in. My car had a broken axle and broken wheel bearing and the guys at Midas got right to work and my car was ready to hit the road again within 3 – 4 hours. I was disheartened to have to spend any extra money on this trip as I was already on a budget, but I feel like these guys were honest and did a great job. The mechanic who fixed the car gave me rides around town in the mean time. If I were back in South Minneapolis in need of car repairs, I’d go back here!

So, what I was told was simply an auxiliary fan that I just hadn’t paid attention to before was actually my radiator fan about to explode. I drove with a malfunctioning fan for nearly a year and was most likely the cause of over-​heating and constant issues with my coil pack and ignition module (which sit on top of the engine block and are sensitive to over-​heating).
They complain about being the oil-​change capital of the world? That’s all they’re good for… don’t trust them with diagnosing problems or completing repairs.
