Where Does Threading Originate?

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal (over 5000 years old) which originated in Persia but is continued in India, Pakistan, China and many other countries. It is popular with women in the Middle East and in the Persian culture where it is called Bande Abru («Abru» means eyebrow, and «Band» is the thread). Threading the entire face is widely spread amongst Iranians, Pakistanis and Indians, but it was originally practiced when a woman was getting married or during special occasions. In ancient Persia, threading was a sign that a girl had reached adulthood and became a woman. Since it is a natural and more precise form of hair removal, it is becoming more and more popular in the western world as an alternative to waxing and tweezing.

I called Leila and the phone went to voicemail (she was with a client) but she quickly called me right back. That gave me huge confidence in her customer service. Leila’s Brow Art is an incredible find! I just moved to Uptown and I’ve been looking for a decent brow threading place that isn’t an hour drive away. (While I was looking, I ended up getting my eyebrows waxed in Uptown and it was horrible and overpriced.)
Leila is a perfectionist and took the time to thread and pluck every last hair. My eyebrows look AMAZING and there was no irritation and minimal redness afterward. She is very reasonably priced and even gives you tips on how to maintain and fill out your eyebrows.
I am definitely going back!

I’ve been to Leila thrice for my eyebrows since I moved to Minneapolis.
Although there are salons near my home that do eyebrow threading, I prefer to travel 45 minutes to get my threading done from her.
She gives time to carefully see the eyebrows every time I go to her and gives me perfectly shaped, thick eyebrows: the way I like it!
She’s an expert and knows the art of eyebrow threading!

I’ve been to very pricy salons to get threaded and waxed around the twin cities, and you can’t beat Leila. The price is fantastic, and she’s very detail oriented and precise. My brows haven’t looked this good in so long! Will never go anywhere else. She even gave me tips on how to help my brows grow more evenly. Highly recommend!
