Duniya Drum & Dance

Duniya Drum & Dance held a live special surprise performance at a wedding I attended on Saturday at Windows on Minnesota (50^th floor of IDS Center in downtown Minneapolis). The groom is African, so what better way to incorporate African song and dance into the wedding than have this talented group perform? Duniya Drum & Dance performs traditional drumming and dancing from Guinea in West Africa.
The group is led by Whitney McClusky and Fode Bangoura. At the wedding, they were accompanied by two young drummers/​dancers, aged (IIRC) 11 and 9. The group performed after the dinner reception and before the couple’s first dance. As guests made their way from the reception hall to the dance floor, we were pleasantly greeted by their exceptional drum and dance performance. It was high energy, interactive, and «in your face.» The group performed on the dance floor.
