New favorite spot! I love pizza and got their eggplant and mushroom pizza. Amazing. I tried it the first time and came back 3 times within 2 weeks. Very reasonably priced for a gigantic portion. And the green sauce was delicious. If you were missing Chaing Mai Thai in uptown’s burning rings of fire sauce. This one is similar but even more flavorful. The girls working at the front are always so nice and caring. While I was waiting they would be cleaning tables within a minute of someone leaving. My one confusion is the 3^rd time I was there they asked if I wanted my pizza spicy or not. I told them on the phone yes and when I picked it up saw they charged an extra dollar for it? And the crust was a lot thicker than the first time. It was still good but a buck for some crushed red pepper? Pizza is still a good deal but I’m not sure why the crust was different as well. Ah well. I’ll still be a new regular!

I was told that Crescent Moon bakery had award winning pizza and I am now a believer!!! Their Football Pizza is a perfect balance between soft naan crust and authentic Afghan toppings. Very friendly staff and fast service. For any pizza lover this is a ‘MUST TRY’ destination!

The best football pizza !! They certainly can quench the thirst for spice in my Pakistani palette.

Last week, I came in her for the first time ever. Earlier this week, I came in her a second time. I am amazed that I have driven by this place hundreds of times in my life, and I just now enter here. This is an amazing place for Middle Eastern food.
Before entering this place, I was expecting it to be like Al Amir Bakery, which is a block away. Al Amir Bakery has great food but not a warm atmosphere. Crescent Moon Bakery is much better in every way, shape, and form possible. Not to mention, this place far exceeded my expectations.
The employees appear to have a good eye on cleanliness and order. This applies to the dining area and the work area. I did not see any problems with any leftover food, dirt, or clutter. Therefore, I felt comfortable walking in there. I would also feel comfortable dining in there in the future. The only reason I did not do so on my visits was because I needed to get home for my TV shows.
The employees are friendly and seem eager to please their customers. On my first visit, it took me a while to figure out what I want to order, and the employee was patient with me. They appear to be knowledgeable on the food that they serve, and they are great at making any suggestions that they feel will improve the order.
On both visits, I ordered the Afghan platter for two. They gave me enough food to feed me four meals. It includes various types of meat, gyros, rice, and salad. Both times, the wait time was reasonable. It was served to me fresh, and everything tasted delicious! I would go as far as saying that this is the best Middle Eastern restaurant I have been to in the Twin Cities.
When I am in the area and in the mood for some good Middle Eastern food, I will continue coming here. I feel like I can count on them for the best quality food.

The pizza was good and big. I tried eggplant pizza. They charged me 1 $ for spicy pizza though it wasn’t at all. You can add pepper yourself. My boyfriend got the Malika plate. Spinach was tasteless and it should have been baked with some spice or sauce. The rest was good.

Maybe we should have stuck with the pizza?
But I was too intrigued by the Afghan stews.
We tried each of the veggie stews: eggplant, bean, and spinach. Plated up alongside a boatload of sweet carrot and raisin dotted rice, a simple side salad and a triangle of pita, the stews looked beautifully promising.
Yet again, a reminder that looks can be deceiving.
While Afgan cuisine has mastered the art of spicing food, the spinach and eggplant stews here lacked any discernable flavor. Truly and shockingly flat dishes.
Further, the eggplant dish was undercooked, and still retained the unappetizing essence of a nearly raw eggplant.
The bean stew was the winner, as it seemed jazzed up with at least a few pinches of spice and diced onions. However, it still left much to be desired.
The 3 sauces (spicy pepper-​based, yogurt-​based, and a light herby one) available were quickly deployed in full force onto our plates to amp up the flavor. The amalgam of sauces, sweet rice, and the spice-​neglected stews was ok but just not worth a trip back.
Highlight was the dessert: sheer pira. A melt-​in-​your-​mouth sugar bar flecked with walnuts /​pistachios and flavored with rose water and cardamom.
All in all, a bit of a let down. Perhaps, it’s the football-​shaped pizza that has won over other Unilocalers.

Fed the whole crew at Jake The Plumber… hungry guys. Pizza, that is somehow more than a pizza… not sure how else to describe it… wholesome… but still pizza.
We went to the Dinky Town location. Very chill atmosphere with a small open mic stage and plenty of seats. Not crowded. We like.
In house coffee drinks or coffees hop next door. Parking was a little tough, but what can you expect in Dinkytown? I didn’t have room for dessert but the baklava in the case by the register was mighty tempting. I guess they are having a grand opening in three weeks with live music and open mic night.

I really like their food, but the wait is ridiculous. The last two times we’ve come in to get take out, we ended up waiting over 30 minutes. That’s being generous. The first time, the dude hooked us up with some baklava, but the second time, it was just as if a 30 minute wait is par for the course. I love this kind of restaurant, but in Minneapolis it’s hard to find the trifecta of good service, good food, and good value. This place only succeeds at the second. Go to Sultan’s market in Chicago and get a falafel sandwich for 3.75. It’ll be the best you’ve had and it’ll take 2 minutes to make.

Yay! I got to go here on a recent trip to the twin cities. I didn’t live far from this «bakery» when I was in graduate school. It didn’t disappoint then and doesn’t now. We even had them cater once. Last time in, I ordered hummus to go. I couldn’t believe what was included for the price and they even know how to whip up a nice, tasty Turkish coffee. Yum!

Get the football pizza. I get the meat lovers. They’ll ask if you want it spicy. I like it that way. Then get the green sauce for dipping. You will not be disappointed.

I lived behind a pretty mediocre pizza place which will not be named for 5 years. While searching for a new apartment, I found one that was behind Crescent Bakery. *Cue jokes about never being far from my next pizza fix* I have been hearing about the Football Pizzas for years, but never got around to trying them until now. I think I am exactly where I need to be because now I live behind a pizza place that I can be proud of!
*blarmphfghhh* Did you hear that? It’s my belly’s happy noises. It’s happy because I ate an entire House Special Football Pizza this afternoon for lunch. This pizza is everything I love about Pizza: AMAZING crust that is substantial enough to withstand copious toppings, impeccable balance of cheese to sauce to crust to toppings, and unique flavors that work in pizza format! Dip it in that green sauce and you have HEAVEN in a bite.
They have plans to become a nationwide sensation, but I’m secretly hoping that they stay Minneapolis’ best kept secret.

I have been craving the Green Crack Sauce since I left this place a few months ago. I don’t know what is in the Green sauce, but I had to slather it on every piece of pizza I ate. I ordered a football pizza with beef, onions, and green pepers I believe and it was excellent, especially with the sauce! I think I almost ate the entire dang pizza cause my Dining companion actually tried something different. She had a combo plate of sorts which she said was absolutely divine.
There is nothing fancy about this place. You go up to the counter and order, They then bring your food to you.

Wow! I had The meat lovers football pizza with some mushrooms thrown on and did it spicy. Amazing pizza! Obviously fresh ingredients and the jalapeño cilantro sauce on the side was the perfect amount of heat. This is a must get if you find yourself in the twin cities.

Football shaped pizza in Minneapolis aside, this was delicious. I loved the veggie with eggplant. The chutney made you want to get things out of the fridge to test since it was so good on everything. Next time we’ll done in and grab some baklava.

Their pizza is pretty good but when they off handedly ask you if you’d like it spicy don’t say yes! They will charge you $ 1 for seasoning and it won’t taste any spicier. When I asked them about this, they said they had been doing this for about a year and no one has complained, and product prices have gone up. I let them know that it was bad business practice, and if they needed to charge more for their pizzas. Or appropriate things like meat and ex cheese that would be fine! But they shouldn’t slip things on people’s bills. I’m sure most people have not noticed, or noticed and not complained because it was only a dollar. But this is just bad business practice and they were rude and unapologetic about it.

Being new to Northeast Minneapolis, I have been aching to find a good local pizza joint. After it was strongly recommended to me by my husband (he had had some at his workplace), we ordered a Football Pizza (with Afghani beef, and of course green sauce!) and … oh my. This pizza could become a terrible addiction if we’re not careful! The flavors were just delightful, and the staff members were very friendly. I am happy to be living so close to such delectible pizza!
A++ WILL ORDER AGAIN

The only thing I’ve ever ordered here is the football pizza.
I CRAVE it. It’s an urge that I cannot deny. On St. Patty’s day I even ditched my corned beef lunch plans to get some football pizza instead! Me forgoing corned beef is the equivalent of a person pushing their hand into a food processor. But the House Special Football pizza with «green sauce» is worth the sacrifice and stub-​hand.
I’m pretty picky with my pizza. I hate pub pizza, it doesn’t even make sense to me and it’s no wonder it was made for drunks. But Crescent Moon’s is unique and memorable. Their House Special is the perfect combo of spicy Afghani beef with cooked but crisp veggies, and the spicy cilantro sauce is what brings this to the next level. The crust is thin but holds up well. I’m assuming they also add a brick of cocaine to make it so addicting.
They offer lunch specials on weekdays — $ 2 off a 12″ football pizza or $ 5 for a single-​topping 12″ round pizza.
