Amanda did a phenomenal job on my haircut today. She and worked with me (someone who doesn’t know anything about hair) to figure out what I wanted to do with my hair. I couldn’t have been more happy with the end result! The face, scalp, neck and back massages were extremely relaxing. Laid back atmosphere, non pretentious and friendly staff. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would recommend to everyone.

Due to a tragic accident with my electric razor, I managed to shave a hefty bald spot on the side of my head. Allen Ray fixed ‘er right up and got me looking good in no time. Now my hair looks better than it did even before the ‘incident’. They know what they’re doing. Plus they offered free Summit beer. 5 stars.

In town for business. Called to see if they could get me a same day appointment which they did with no problem. Great haircut from Daniel. Very friendly staff. Next time I’m in town will definitely drop in for a trim.

I’m very happy with Allen Ray Salon, my latest try at a long term relationship with the person that cuts my hair. The staff is super friendly, Amanda the owner ever-​present to ensure good service. What makes this place better than the rest is the amazing service — complementary beverage, hot towel treatment, awesome scalp and neck massage. They have a great relaxed way with their customers and are great conversationalists.
They do a great job with their technique, and have Aveda products on site for sale. The haircuts are a bit pricier than other downtown salons, but well worth it.

I’m in town for a special corporate event. Sight unseen I picked this salon so I could have updo/​makeup done. The lovely gal who took my app was professional and I could tell she loved her job the moment she answered the phone. I was able to get in on the day I needed and time too. Holly did my hair and make up and as I told ya in my tip. She is AMAZinG. Her personality was a perfect fit for me and I had fun. The place was small and intimate and beautiful. I just might drive the 2 hours for my next cut/​color.

A $ 25 dollar cut for $ 50. It’s an oddly laid out space where you’re party to others’ conversations. The stylists are friendly but really need to learn more advanced cutting techniques and obtain a broader understanding of the history of style.

I went here for a haircut and eyebrow was, and I have to say Lisa and Amanda were the most knowledgeable and friendly people I have ever met at a salon/​barber shop. I would recommend this place to someone who wants a professional cut and style, while having a great conversation and even learning a bit about what fits your facial structure.

Fortunately, Allen Ray delivers on every level! Tucked away in the skyway, it’s a relaxing, sun filled, hidden gem. I followed Miss Lisa K. To this location; having had the pleasure of receiving hair cuts/​color from her previously, I was excited to check out her new digs. Upon my arrival, I was pleasantly surprised when cheerfully greeted at the desk, and then by Lisa– who promptly offered me a copious selection of beverages, including an ice cold summit! We were off to a great start. As I sat in the sunlight, I couldn’t help but notice how happy all of the stylists were. It was easy to see that they truly enjoyed being there. I was there for a cut and color, so I had plenty of time to see that all of the stylists had many loyal clients filtering through the salon. Cuts were done quickly and efficiently, yielding great results. Lisa and I shared stories and laughs while she worked away at my new ‘do. The big reveal only solidified why I followed Lisa to Allen Ray salon. My color was gorgeous and multidimensional, my cut even better. After stocking up on some new products, I headed home feeling like a new woman. Thank you Lisa, and thank you Allen Ray salon!

I just left my haircut with Holly. Most relaxing haircut ever. Great sense of style. Perfect cut tailored to my style and face shape. This is my new favorite hair salon. They even give a free mid-​month trim for regular customers.

I’ve known Amanda as a friend for many years now, which made my decision to go to her salon not as easy as you would think. What if I didn’t like the cut? How would it affect our friendship? Was it worth it? Well, I shouldn’t have doubted she would be awesome. I can honestly say I wish I had made the decision to go to her years ago. Amanda listened to what I wanted, shared what she was thinking and then also took the time to teach me some styling techniques. It was truly an excellent experience. I’m actually excited to do my hair now.
Besides getting a to die for cut, I love the fact that the salon is located downtown in the skyway. It’s easy to slip out to get my hair done and be back at the office before anyone has missed me. They also have online booking so I can make an appointment at any time and see what’s available to accommodate my schedule.
If you’re looking for a great haircut, look no further. Amanda is your girl!

I have to say, I am so happy I made the switch to Amanda after 12 years with my old stylist. I needed a change and trusted Amanda with it. I’ve gone to Allen Ray twice now, first for a trim and color and was pleased by how she talked me through what color choices to go with and why.
My second visit was the ‘big bang!” Amanda revamped my look. She gave me a fantastic new haircut for me and colored my hair. The color was even better then before. I sincerely trust her opinion and advice.
The salon is a great location for those who work downtown. I can easily walk from work to my appointment and don’t have to worry about travel time or leaving work early. The salon is very zen and relaxing and what better way to end the day then with a beer in hand! What a great perk!
I recommend anyone, male or female to give Allen Ray a try! You won’t regret it!

Best haircuts I’ve ever had were at this salon. I got mine cut with Elle — one of the stylists. I was sad to move away from Minneapolis and even more sad to go through the work of finding such a talented, accomidating stylist. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a superb men’s haircut, or anyone looking for a new regular stylist.
