Horrendous experience in the bar/restaurant. Gambling at a video machine a patron continually picked on the other players and the management did nothing! The venue is in a good location so we were shocked at the lackluster bartender and management! If you truly want to ruin your night, eat dinner and have drinks here. We will never step for in venue again:(

Things get better with time, and now I’m a big fan! My original review wasn’t overly kind to this place 2 years ago, but after our family Christmas Eve dinner here and subsequent«to-go» orders, I’m an honest fan. It’s just really good! Christmas Eve with the extended family, and our tradition in Chinese food like many families. Great place for groups that offers family style meals where you have a set menu that can be ordered, just tell them how many in your party. With 5 or more people they even throw in a complimentary plate of General Tso’s chicken, the restaurants specialty. Veggie options are plentiful which is great for me. I opted for the Chinese Braised Tofu and it did not disappoint! Plenty of rich, garlicky sauce over a mix of bok choy, water chestnut, mushroom, carrot, etc, and an amazing amount of tofu over rice. Great value and a huge step up from what I remember a few years back. You are very nicely welcomed for dine in, and as much care into the preparation is put in for orders to go. Great service here too. As packed as it was for Christmas Eve, the ladies waiting on us were pros and really took care of my family. I was very impressed. The food was fresh, high quality, and came out pretty quickly. Overall, just a great go-to place for Chinese in the Milwaukie, King Road/Linwood area. This has become my new favorite!

Great portions and good Chinese food. The service is very good. If you want good Chinese food with generous portions come here. I am biased towards stir fries such as the Mongolian beef. The hot n sour soup is one of the best I have had.

Yumm! Get the general tsaos chicken. It is crispy, sweet, tangy, and satisfying I could probably pop that like popcorn if the sauce wasn’t so messy. It tastes o so good with rice. This family owned restaurant is my favorite to go to for take out! I usually don’t go to the bar attached to it, but if you need a drink, it’s there. Other to order items on the menu include the crab puffs and eggrolls! If I’m having a party or potluck of any kind I love catering from them. It’s cheap, quick and tons of food. My guests always ask me where I catered the food and that’s a tall tale sign of a great restaurant! Yum yum yum that general tsaos chicken, don’t get it twisted for orange chicken, because it’s not Bonus: lunch specials that are outrageously cheap!

After 6 years of coming to this Hong Kong 97 and finding out they had a Unilocal,I’ve finally decided to make a review after I learned the other Hong Kong 97 was not up to par. Great food, good service, amazing prices and phenomenal General Tsaos Chicken. The only chinese food restaurant I like actually going to when I need my fix for fried rice their fried rice. The dishes are unique to this restaurant, in the sense that you crave this food not chinese food. The service here is amazing although I know the customers tend to do take out which an ungodly amount of food is ordered to-go. The portions are huuuuuuuuge, my favorite things to get are the fried rices, salt and pepper pork, broccoli beef and of course the famous General tsaos chicken. With the portions being so large I can only order my fried rice and an entrée. For the beginners get a lunch specials to get the most bang for your buck for the first visit.

Inexpensive, good food. If you’re looking for authentic, check elsewhere. Really large portions for the price. You’ll have leftovers!

I don’t even want to give a good review because I don’t want people to start going here, but it is definitely as good as I’ve ever had, that’s all I’m gonna say. Just be sure to ask for spicy, as they tend to keep it on the milder side.

Excellent experience. Comfy place. Great service. Inexpensive. The general tso chicken was amazing. I call it chicken candy. My son had the chicken strips and fries. No longer will he complain when we say we are going out for Chinese.

Nevermind the good food and generous portions. Forget that the salt and pepper shrimp smells like crack and never makes it home because I eat it all on my drive home. This place is my dirty little secret for Halibut Fish & Chips. For $ 12 you get like 10 huge pieces of fish. The batter is perfect! Not too flakey and not too crispy and nice and light and golden brown. The only downside is that it’s seasonal and they rarely have it.

Do yourself a favor and order the General Tsao’s chicken. This stuff is bonkers good, almost like youre eating meat candy. The glaze is sweet and savory, and somehow maintains its crispy texture throughout the meal. Which is great because the portions are huge. You may hate yourself later thinking about how much you just stuffed in you, its addicting and your ‘last piece’ will always have another ‘last piece’ following it. Family owned and friendly, bring your loved ones, friends, and your appetite. You’ll need it.

The best Chinese food I have found in the Portland metro area. Great General Tso’s chicken and garlic green beans. Egg foo young also good. Large portions. Lunch specials are amazing: soup, entrée rice and side dish for $ 6 – 7. Service is good. Eat here! PS– I have no idea what the bar here looks like; I am here to eat.

We have eaten here a number of times. This local restaurant/bar is just a few blocks from our house and its quickly turning into our favorite local haunt. My wife and I can walk here from our house. We also like to play video poker once in a while and have a drink. Lets start with the food. We have eaten here a number of times. The food is always hot and tasty. Just what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant and the portions are HUGE. Some friends of our suggested the Salt and Pepper shrimp with fresh jalapeño’s. I have been craving it ever said it went in my mouth. YUMMY! it is lightly breaded big shrimp cooked with salt and pepper(as the name implies) and tossed with fresh cut jalapenos. The spicy oil from the peppers gives this dish a kick. But more impressively is the unique taste. It’s great! try it The service here is wonderful. I wish I could remember the bartenders name, she is great. She remembers us now and whenever we go here I always order an IPA knowing darn well they don’t have one on tap or in the bottle. I’m hoping my constant irritation will make it to whomever orders their beer. If you ever seeing me drinking a Budweiser or Coors lite it means I have been kidnapped and I am trying to send my friends a signal. Most of the time its a nice quiet place. This is Milwaukie after all and sometimes some riff-raff wonders in. It makes for fun people watching. Very good food Very good service Very strong drinks 5 stars!
