Waited over 20 minutes just to get our drink order in and after waiting another 15 minutes, with no drinks or our server in sight, we left. The table next to us was also trying to track down their server to get the check and also looked like they were not happy.

The service was not particularly good and very slow. I’m not a fan of ground up fish on a roll. If it says salmon roll I’m not expecting ground up salmon. It was very affordable and fresh and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. I guess there’s just better options.

This is my favorite sushi place by far. The seafood is always fresh and tasty. They also have really good deals that allow us to try more rolls! My favorite is the Fujiyama roll! Hibachi is also awesome there! They give a Shrimp appetizer and you get ice cream with hibachi dinners!

I love this place! it is my favourite place to dine on wonderful Japanese cuisine! I have been to Canada and the E.U. and had Japanese food, but this place is the best place, in my mind, to get it, that is outside of Japane. :) However, there is one thing bad about this place, and that is, their person whom takes reservations. They are so bad, that they can’t even say the name of the restaurant and messes up what you said on the phone as to where you want to sit! However the food is wonderful and I would tell you to go on a Mon., Tue. or Sun. You’ll love it!!!

The hubs and I stopped in for a light lunch and Fujiyama was perfect. We sat at the sushi bar and the chef gave us each a complimentary salad… they were amazing! We shared 3 rolls, the saki maki roll, rainbow roll, and a bomb shell. The saki maki roll was absolutely delicious… I wish we had ordered two of them.

Their food is fresh, delicious and beautiful art on a plate. The sauce on the sushi items has just the right amount of kick. The atmosphere is quiet. Bathrooms are clean, service was perfect and priced well for the food.

I haven’t tried too many Hibachi places, but as far as this place. I couldn’t have had a better experience. The chefs were very entertaining; as someone who enjoys cooking, I was definitely in awe. My boyfriend, his parents, and I all ordered combination meals which came with a salad with a ginger dressing and miso soup. After we met our chef, he started us off with a few pieces of shrimp, which tasted amazing. He poured us some dipping sauces. A ginger one and a honey mustard one-both delicious(one sweet, one savory). I ordered the Filet Mignon and scallop combo with fried rice. Every bite was heaven. It was around $ 25 for the whole meal and I’m sure it’s worth it every time. The rice was fluffy and savory. The veggies were sautee’d perfectly. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The scallops were buttery and succulent. One of the best parts was when the chef tossed the shrimp into our mouths and if we missed-we had to get a sprayed saki shot. Very fun experience. And to wrap up the meal, a small bowl of ice cream. The only con would be that the reservations aren’t really a set time. We had a late dinner and they said to come after 8:30pm… we were pretty confused and then not sat for another 20 minutes. But I was getting ‘hangry’. The waitstaff also werent that attentive as far as re-ordering or refilling drinks.

We went to Fujiyama last night and I’ll just cut to the chase… 24 hours later I have food poisoning. During my meal I knew something wasn’t right. The sashimi I had(tuna and salmon) was off-temperature, very soft, and flavorless(not fresh). I only ate three of the six pieces that came with my platter but apparently that did it for me. The other items I had in my bento box dinner were similarly suspect and/or flavorless. The miso soup was actually grainy(like they used a soup mix?), the shrimp and vegetable tempura was gooey, the shrimp dumplings tasted«off.» The California rolls were the most palatable thing I had but I still only ate one of them. We didn’t say anything because there were multiple birthdays while we were there. For each birthday, they blare some disco music — truly, it makes your ears bleed — for about five minutes. So, half of the time we were eating it was too loud to discuss anything, and the other half of the time our waiter was busy taking bowls of mochi to birthday girls. It’s too bad because we enjoyed the atmosphere… But there’s a special place in Hell for a restaurant that gives you food poisoning the day before New Year’s Eve.

Came here on a whim for date night. So glad we did! Great atmosphere and food. The vibe is very fun. We both got steak hibachi and the hibachi chefs were interactive. You get Saki shots constantly from the chefs and they play a little music for a min or two for the fun of it. We’ll definitely be back and this would be great for a group or girls night!

I am a sushi fan, but by no means a sushi expert. I think this place is one of the best in Milwaukee, and I’ve been coming here since they first opened.(Anyone else remember when they were voting to keep the loud, drum in the enterance? So glad that one fell by the wayside.) The rolls are excellent, and coming on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday is the best way to score a deal. Our last trip, we ordered 6 rolls and 6 pieces of sushi, and our tab was less than $ 60. I enjoy raw fish, so I often find that the fancy rolls with tons of sauces just masks the flavor of the fish. I tend to order a combination of things to try to balance things out. On our last trip, we ordered Tako, Yellowtail and White Tuna Sushi. All were very good, and the rice was cooked well with the right amount of sushi vinegar. The octopus had a nice chew factor going on and the yellow tail and white tuna were fresh and buttery tasting… so good. Our other raw fish rolls included a Yellow Tail Roll, Mars Roll and Rainbow Roll, and Philly Roll. All were very good. I have had better Rainbow Rolls, as the raw fish on top seems to be getting thinner and thinner. We probably would not re-order the Philly Roll. This was a first time order for us, and the amount of cream cheese was just too overpowering. We loved the Mars Roll. There was plenty of tuna and salmon atop this puppy. We tried the angry bird roll this trip, as loved the tempura fried shrimp on top. The spider roll is an old favorite of mine. I enjoy the crunchy fried soft shell crab and the sauce. Out biggest complaint is that sometimes the rolls are not wrapped tight enough and can fall apart when lifted off the plate. This happened with more than once roll on our last visit. I will always come back for the sushi. It really hits the spot, As a side note, I personally find the whole hibachi experience to be cheesy, but if its your thing, give it a try. The non-sushi eaters in my family have had it, and say that its enjoyable.

One of the sushi places I frequent in Milwaukee. Consistently good. The Spicy Tuna, Avocado, California, and Dragon rolls are some of my favorites. Going here for hibachi is also always a fun experience. If you’re feeling hungry, order the Sushi boat — it’s literally a small wooden boat loaded with rolls. This time we ordered hibachi at a table, with a side of spicy tuna and avocado rolls. What to say? The plate is loaded with deliciously browned veggies, fried rice, some shrimp and a meat or extra helping of veggies of your choice. Not much else to say. If you’ve never tried sushi before, do yourself a favor and start here, not with your local grocery store sushi, which is never good. There are higher end sushi places around, especially downtown with somewhere like Saki Tumi, but this isn’t as pricey and its just as good IMO.

I love their tempura esp shrimp. I placed my order and soon was served the soup and salad. But the tempura came too soon. What to do? Finish both and have cold tempura. Aargh Today it came with no wasabi so had to wait for the server. He was busy. I asked another server. Then I noticed there wasn’t any ginger. Asked yet another server. Since I had leftovers I asked for three containers. I filled my food but how does one carry three containers??? I had to once again ask. This time for a bag. If you go there, my recommendation is that you be VERY specific and ask for exactly what you want. They don’t seem to notice.

I’m not a sushi connoisseur; I’ve only ever had it a handful of times. As an appetizer. And then once from the supermarket. And then again from the supermarket. And, maybe, even a third time from the supermarket. And you know what? It was good. So good, in fact, that I finally made the leap to an actual sushi restaurant. And yeah, I AM giving it 5 stars! Mark G. and I went on a Wednesday night and were promptly seated. After looking over the extensive menu(how many freakin’ ways are there to prepare raw fish?), we surrendered and admitted to our server that we didn’t know what in the hell we were doing. He very kindly made some recommendations and then we perused the menu some more. We ordered a beer for him and a Tokyo Tea for me. Others have compared the TT to a Long Island without the coke, but I would have to disagree. Mine tasted like pure gin with *maybe* a couple other boozes mixed in. It packed a punch, but I ended up ordering a Sierra Mist to help get it down. Our sushi selections were the California roll, the Transformer roll and the Godzilla roll. This is where I learned that sushi can be cooked, too. The Cali roll was good and a nice introduction to newbie sushi eaters, such as ourselves. Good practice for the chopsticks, as that was all we were given! Apparently, it contains cucumber, a vegetable I wouldn’t normally eat. Guess what? I now eat cucumber. Occasionally. In sushi. The Transformer roll was delicious and loaded with all kinds of yummy who-knows-what(I was already feeling tipsy, as I arrived with an empty stomach and the Tokyo Tea was hitting me), including a large smattering of fish roe which I happily ate, being only recently introduced to it. The Godzilla roll, for me, was the star of our dinner. The flavor of the sauces it was topped with, as well as the roll itself, made my taste buds scream with delight. There was that fish roe again, popping like tiny little bubbles of happiness on my tongue. As mentioned above, by this time, I just couldn’t take the flavor of my drink anymore and had to order a Sierra Mist and use it as a chaser. I finally had to admit defeat and let Mark have the last piece of sushi, too. People keep mentioning that this place is in a strip mall and you know what? SO what? It has damn good food, the atmosphere is for everyone and there is ample parking with easy access to other businesses in the area. Sushi not your thing? It’s ok, they have hibachi too! I highly recommend this place, especially for newbies, due to the variety on the menu. There is definitely something for everyone! 80÷2015÷174

Oh My! For a last minute sushi decision, I’m so glad we headed out this way rather than stay downtown. The prices here are pretty stellar, though I’m a bit confused about the price of a spider roll($ 6!) compared to the Chef Specials(upwards of $ 15 – 17). We ended up ordering two dinner specials, which included salad and miso soup, and two«a la carte» rolls. If you haven’t had a tempura sweet potato roll… just do it. The spicy roll combination for dinner was decent, but they didn’t seem to vary enough to be a «combination». I’m pretty sure it was just a few different fishes(salmon for one, tuna another…) stirred up with spicy mayo and rolled in. I’d have loved fuller pieces of fish, mixed with some veggie maybe?, and then topped with swizzles(actually word) of spicy sauce. I splurged on a Mai Tai, which was pretty decent. My pineapple was a bit salty(?) so I put that aside. I’d be interested to try this spot for hibachi, too. Update to come!

Fujiyama has never failed me. As a general rule, I don’t like chain restaurants. However I’ve been to Fujiyama’s all over the place and they are always rock solid. The sushi at Fujiyama is always good, but there’s nothing that really blows my mind. For example, the Wauwatosa roll at Ginza… amazing. Best roll ever. All the rolls I’ve had at Fujiyama have been good but not great. If you’re going to Fujiyama, odds are you’re going for the Hibachi, and that is something that this place never falters on. The staff is always friendly and talkative, the food is always good, and it’s very reasonably priced. I only give 3 stars because, while Fujiyama is good, it’s not amazing. There are many many more unique restaurants out there, but sometimes you just want a good chicken and fried rice.

Update! I was much more pleased this time around. The service was attentive and pleasant. The rolls are HUGE and the flavors are great. I seemed to enjoy the«simple» rolls a bit more. The rainbow roll was one of the best. The fish was fresh and flavorful.

I love this little gem in a west allis strip mall. Always have a great meal, i love the warm towels to start it off. the rolls are huge though! like almost too big to manage in one bite! I could spend hours watching the bright tropical fish in the salt-water fish tank too.

After visiting pretty much every sushi place in MKE, we’ve circled back around to Fujiyama a few times lately, both for lunch and for dinner. My conclusion: Fujiyama is the best«overall value» for sushi in MKE. Note that I’m not saying it’s «the best sushi» period or that it’s «my favorite sushi» but that you get the most value for your dollar here. First off, the rolls are about the same price as most other places(specialty rolls $ 12 – 15) but they are seriously the biggest rolls I’ve ever seen. Ever. At most places(ahem, Kanpai) rolls get big because they use too much rice. Not at Fujiyama — they stuff those rolls full of stuff. Lots of stuff. Good stuff. My old boss used to tell me «your strong point is your weak point» and Fujiyama is a case in point. I love that they have 2 pages of Americanized sushi rolls but I consequently find that I can’t make a choice? Do I want the American Dream? The Sexy Lady? The Angry Bird? What do I want??? Same deal with the huge size — I mean, let’s be honest — bigger is better, amirite, ladies? But when the roll slices are too big for me to fit a piece in my mouth(go ahead with your«that’s what she said») it makes me sad. All that said, the quality is really good, they pump food out quickly, service is friendly and the overall value is absolutely there. No, they aren’t necessarily the«best», nor will they compare to whatever place you loved so much in San Fran or NY but Fujiyama does a fine job for what it is. Also of note — especially special lunch specials. 3 standard maki(and those bad boys are STUFFED with fish), soup & salad for like $ 11.
