History

Established in 1992.

Originally called Brewed Awakenings, created by Sally Iverson, Adam Paul, and Dan Marquardt, it was a lively, social coffeehouse on Brady Street. It was eventually bought by Matt McClutchy in 1998, who started roasting the coffee in house and changing the name to Anodyne Coffee Roasting Company. Later in 2007 he sold the Brady Street café, moving the coffee roasting to Bay View and now to Walkers Point. Today it is called Brewed Café, owned by Sheila Pufahl-Bettin and Eva Kuether, still serving the Anodyne brand coffee and preparing all homemade food including bakery, an all day breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. Beer, wine, mimosas and beermosas also available. It is a place filled with local art, music, poetry and social culture.

Meet the Business Owner

Sheila P.

Business Owner

Sheila has a degree in commercial art and has worked in the graphics art field for over 20 years before buying the café (with her sister, Eva). Throughout college worked at several restaurants, waitressing and preparing food. She loves to surround herself with art, hence the gallery nights and music events that promote her café. In her spare time she likes to ride her bike, cook, paint, sew, garden and play with her grandkids!
