Quest Diagnostics

I came in for a generic physical exam to qualify for insurance. Location was hard to find (it’s in an obscure corner next to Giorgio’s), and ended up arriving 7 minutes late. Only one other lady was in the waiting room and the office was pretty much dead quiet and empty. Of course, I apologized for my tardiness, but what blew my mind was what she said next – «We don’t like to take patients more than 15 minutes late, but today I guess we’ll make an exception…» Um, excuse me? I was 7 minutes late, NOT 15! The bloody clock on the wall and my cell phone confirmed that! Well, whatever. Something along the lines of a sarcastic «thanks for your generosity» may have slipped out.
Anyway, the rest of the session went alright – no problems with the blood draw or blood pressure reading. I was surprised they didn’t weigh me or measure my height? They just asked me what I thought it was and accepted that…
If your company recommends several diagnostic centers, maybe try one of the other ones first.

If you can go elsewhere I highly recommend you do so. I waited almost 2 hours for simple blood draw (2 viles). The receptionist was «frazzled» and you could tell didn’t have a clue what she was doing. I live in Milpitas and will drive to San Jose from now on, this place is really unprofessional and rude. SLOW DIAGNOSTICS should be their new name.

I wish there was a zero rating for this site. In this day and age they demand a physical copy of Insurance details. They would not let my wife fill out the form with details or help her with print out or photocopy. Sent her back out to staples to make a photocopy. Never faced this crap at labcorp ever. No more quest for us.

I made an appointment at 11:30 am. I was 5 mins late because of the location and so they cancelled my appointmnet and was asked to wait in w/​o appoinments list. There were a few people in the waiting room. The receptionist was little rude because she was tired and overwhelmed on taking care of front desk and lab test. I guess they need some full time receptionist. But Angelo who did my test was pretty cool. The whole process only took 30 min. I will definitely come back.

Service is slow. Staff are rude and lacks knowledge.

Very disorganized location– estimated 1.5−2 hour wait for walk ins, ended up closer to 4 hours because receptionist left– appointments taken out of order with and with out reservations.

Was here the other day and waited an hour and 5 minutes to get my blood drawn on a non-​appt. The staff looked tired and overwhelmed. I think they need a full time receptionist to ease the flow as the employees play jack of all trades at this place. I think east san jose locales are better. Huzzah for Steven drawing my blood and I did’nt feel a pinch.

One star to draw attention to the location. Anyone coming for the first time, look for staples building. Facing staples you would go to the right. Quest is on the side, next to a Italian restaurant. Difficult to find if you are following Google map. Got lectured «you should have left home earlier» because I was late for my Saturday morning appointment. Spent 13 minutes looking for the place. So annoyed.

I was happy that they took me back, based on me not having an appointment, because at that location, their policy is to make appointments on Saturday, although its not listed anywhere online for people to know to do this ahead of time. My problem is not with them taking me in, but what the phlebotomist said.
I did not get his name because I was so upset and just wanted to leave, but there were only two Filipino men working, one older (his name was Steve) and the other was younger wearing converse (didn’t get his name). Once he put in my information and then put the «code» for the type of blood test I was getting, after the name of the test popped up, he looks at me and says, «oh, you’re trying to abort you’re baby?» … I was so disgusted and upset, I responded with «No, I had a miscarriage yesterday.» To which he responded with a very quick «Sorry».
I am so absolutely disgusted, hurt and sick to my stomach at the comment he made to me. 1) If I was aborting my unborn child, it is absolutely NONE of his business, and he should show the upmost care and respect when dealing with his patients. 2) I was NOT aborting my child, I miscarried it the previous day, ¹⁰⁄₂₃.
I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here based on this experience because of the disrespect the phlebotomist showed me.
It took everything in me to not break down and start crying right there. This being my first miscarriage, and the fact that it happened just yesterday put me in a fragile state. I still am, I am flabbergasted at the treatment, and suggest training to these phlebotomists on how to show respect and keep comments to themselves about tests and what their patiences are going through because it is none of their business, and what they say can be beyond hurtful and cause more pain that what the patient is already going through.

Came down here to give blood sample for annual checkup. Appointment was taken earlier and online experience is good.
Morning I showed up early and front desk collect my papers ontime.
The appointment is suppose to check my height, weight, blood pressure and collect blood to do routine check-​up.
(1) They just put a number by see me for my height
(2) They ask me to provide weight — whatever I can say. I ask them to check it. Then they ask me to move to different room to check my weight.
(3) Blood Pressure — after back from weight measurement, time for it — Pressure monitor work VERY incorrectly. Within 1 minutes gap, it shows VERY different result. Though I am seating in same chair, same position. I wonder why they use an incorrect equipment. It seems they have only one equipment in entire location — they exchange once my pressure done to another person in next cabin/​room.
(4) Blood draw — they are suppose to collect one sample of blood. Very odd way he put the needle, it pain. Mostly it take 20 – 30 second to collect one sample blood — but for me, needle moved multiple times to collect blood as it is not coming right way, took more than 90 second. Very poor performance. Some other place (Palo Alto Medical Foundation), drawing blood very smoothly — I never feel pain at all.
Very disappointing experience.

The only reason I am giving them even one star is because you can’t possibly give 0. The service is horribly rude. We came in for a test for my mother who had just gone through surgery and was on a travelers insurance. The lady managing the desk was beyond rude! I am amazed how the staff talks to the patients. The most qualified doctors have been so polite and yet the staff at this lab almost yelled at my sister when all she did was try to ask a question about the insurance requirements… I would never ever recommend this place to anyone especially not voluntarily.

Had to come here for simple and routine work-​related lab test and am amazed at how understaffed this facility is. They say wait times are estimated at an hour and a half but are stretching past two hours. Not impressed and wouldn’t ever come here by choice.

We visited this facility about a month ago, and didn’t have such a good expierence. However we were back today and had a much better visit everyone was very friendly, and in much better spirits=*) looking forward to returning next month=*) thank you

Came in at 7am hoping for a drug screen.
I arrive, they told me to schedule an appointment for a drug screen. Couldn’t do it in person. Had to do it online or over the phone. When I tired scheduling an appointment online for this location, their scheduling system online shows no appointment times available. When I tried over the phone, the automated voice tells me there are «technical difficulties.» Pretty much can’t set up an appointment here. Find somewhere else.
PS: it is required to have an appointment for a drug screen (or so I’ve been told)

Can’t believe we had to wait more than 30 mins for my mom’s lab work and we had an appointment. The 2 ladies were so disorganized and couldn’t figure out their check-​in list. No proper greeting or eye contact. Worst customer service. That lady, don’t know if she’s caucasian or latin, kept on sighing the whole time. I guess they hate their job.

I was also confused by the new location and address. I circled around the parking lot for 15 mins before I realized it was across the closed down mervyns and next door to the Italian restaurant.
First time I came in, I was late for my appointment and had to come back later. The lady receptionist gave me an attitude at first. «You should have checked the address in your confirmation email.» Well I did but it was a generic address in a large parking lot! There was no specific store number. Anyhow, I was informed that it gets less busy around the afternoon. I was instructed to come back after 2 or 3 pm. I made another appointment at 145pm to safe
2^nd attempt. I arrived early! Woo. There were only two people here at 2 pm. That’s a good time to drop in. The male clerk was very nice. I asked if I could also get a test to determine my blood type in addition to my antibody titers. He said I would have to call the doctor for permission but when I called they were out for lunch. He said I could call afterwards. So I went in and did the blood withdrawal … The tech was trying to
Socialize with me to distract me from my fear of needles but she wasn’t very good at making an interesting conversation. I was disinterested and felt the small pinch. Afterwards I felt light headed afterwards. They gave me water and let me Rest before I left. The guy asked if I called the doctor but I said I haven’t yet. I think he felt sorry for me and so he said it’s ok he would do it for me. Sweet!

Tried to find this place but the address is generic to this huge shopping center. When I tried to call for directions the phone message says it won’t let me talk to an operator, even though it says they know we want to talk to an operator. I got here and told the receptionist and she said, yes we don’t talk to people over thenphone. Really what kind of business won’t allow you to call and talk to someone about directions or matters of health? Go somewhere else. If they won’t even talk to you initially, imagine how great their customer service is when something goes wrong.

This place is seriously hit-​or-​miss… at times, you can get in and out with a breeze. At other times, it seems as though they enjoy torturing their customers. If there are more than just one or two people waiting, you might be in for a bad experience. Though, at least this new facility is significantly nicer!
First off… they take appointments — though, I don’t really understand why… even if you’re going in for test after many hours of fasting, it doesn’t seem to do any good to simply inquire as to their backlog (the answer I received was «Everyone here is either fasting or not fasting, sir» — which, if you think about it, is a given).
More-​over, they don’t appear to actually prioritize their appointments over walk-​ins… of the times I’ve been here (mostly at their older location), I’ve yet to be taken on-​time. This prior appointment (Mar 2015) took me a good two or three hours (while fasting 12+ hours).
The «funny» part is, of course, that then the lab tech might even decide to «make fun» of you fasting… «Oh, you didn’t need to fast for this test» — even though, my doctor actually wrote across the top of the form, «Fasting Required.» Somehow, I’d rather rely on my doctor, and not the snarky comments of either the tech or the receptionist (my apologies).
Lastly, and even though I know some may think I’m being rather pedantic on this point, you will actually *need* your insurance card (seemingly depending on their mood, of course). It doesn’t matter how often you’ve been here, or how recently you’ve been here — they want the physical card (or, at least something *on paper* … it doesn’t matter if you just print it out). They often WILL NOT accept you either writing it down for them, or showing and/​or emailing them a PDF of the card, itself (but, printing it out «is fine» … /​boggle).
Efficiency being what it is, of course… they’ll just take your copy of your printout and type it in to their systems, anyway (so refusing a digital copy is just another way they’re decidedly extracting pain on their customers). And, you *might* luck out and get a tech who allows you to just write the number on their form for them… but, I wouldn’t bank on it (though I’ve gotten lucky a few times).
In short, if you have a choice between Labtech or Quest, I’d probably suggest Labtech… I only come here because 1) the digital copies are preferred by my doctor and 2) they’re close to work/​home. The only thing you should be looking for, here, is «convenience» — that’s not to say it won’t still take you an extra couple of hours if they decide they’re in a bad mood and want to mess with your day.
