CAVEAT EMPTOR! Buyer Beware!
I came to this place because it was recommended by my service manager at South Bay Honda for a «Smog Inspection». I own a 2009 Honda Accord V6 EX-​L Coupe. I called beforehand to introduce myself, and to let them know that I would be coming over during my lunch break (Date of Service 12/​11/​2015).
Up until this point, all went well. Once arriving, I noticed a few other patrons in the parking lot, and about 2 or 3 cars being serviced. The Owner (Zack), immediately came out, and I let him know that I was there for a «Smog Inspection». This FACT was stated to The Owner (Zack) in my initial conversation with him.
Zack then invited me into the service reception area, and begin to take the necessary information from me in order to perform the «Smog Inspection». After completing the necessary form and providing Zack with the required information for the «Smog Inspection», I then had a seat and waited for the service to be completed. While waiting, a gentlemen entered the service reception area with his daughter and took a seat. Roughly about 10 minutes after this gentlemen took his seat, Zack came back into the service reception area with a large dirty air-​filter, and a clean (new) air-​filter. He then told the gentlemen that his air-​filter was dirty, and that he should replace it.
Now, this is when it gets interesting. No less than 5 minutes after this event, Zack comes back into the service reception area with two different air-​filters one dirty and one clean, only this time, the air-​filters were from my vehicle. Instead of blowing a fuse, no pun intended, after he proceeded to tell me that I needed to replace my filters and that my oil was dirty, and asking, «Who performs the service on my vehicle», I kept my cool and reminded him that I was only there for a «Smog Inspection», and that I appreciated his concern, but that I was not there for his additional (Upsell) services.
I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. THIS TUNE-​UP SHOP IS A COMPLETE UPSELL BUSINESS. I WAS HIGHLY INFURIRATED BY SUCH BLATANT UPSELLING TECHNIQUES THAT WERE DEMONSTRATED BY THE OWNER, OF ALL PEOPLE!!! NOT ONCE DID I ASK HIM TO INVESTIGATE ANY OTHER AREAS OF MY VEHICLE. HE TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO REMOVE MY AIRFILTERS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU RUN A BUSINESS. IF THIS IS YOUR GENERAL PRACTICE, WHICH BASED ON SOME OF THE OTHER REVIEWS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A TREND OF HOW YOU CONDUCT BUSINESS, THEN STOP IT! STOP YOUR UNSCUPULOUS BUSINESS PRACTICES NOW!

I have been coming here since I had a drivers license. They do a great job on my cars. I never felt ripped off because I am a female and a single mom. The mechanics are nice, honest and trustworthy…

First of all. I only had to pay for one smog test. But wasted ALOT of my time do their suggestions to resolve the issue. Here is the Horror story.
Attempt 1: Went in for smog test and was failing because of a «Catalyst Not Ready» issue.
Suggested that I drive it around for about 100 miles or so. Drive around to and from work.
Attempt 2: Still failing with the same issue. This time they said drive on the freeway.
Drove on the freeway to and from Daly City.
Attempt 3: Still failing with the same issue. Recommended that I take it to the dealership.
Dealership didn’t help either. Took it to «Milpitas Smog Test Only», where the smog check is alot cheaper and they told me exactly what to do. Did that and finally passed the smog check.
I would recommended taking your car to «Milpitas Smog Test Only» instead. They are at least open 7 days a week and know what they are doing.

This is probably the worst place to get your car maintenanced. They were supposed to fix my headlight and put in new brakes. They forgot to do the headlight so I had to take it back the next day. Then they fucking broke my aux module… what the fuck?
Update: Spoke with the owner Zack. Bringing the car back for them to take a look. He stated no one touched the dashboard, yet the odometer was changed to the tripmeter. Will update with results.

I love how fast and easy this place is!!! The service is amazing and I know they’re doing a thorough job on my car and that they really care, not trying to just get my money. They took me in right away and all the guys got to work on my car. Then all the other customers starting rolling in. 10 was a good time to come in. And they’re showing the price is right!!! Score!!!

Went in this morning for an oil change on my 2013 Prius, wanted to charge me $ 69.95!!! Got the fuck out next second! Trying to rip me off becuae I’m a woman I guess, said something about using canister or whatever… I’m getting my oil change at Happy Smog Check in Fremont for $ 30~ you need to do honest business because what you lose will always be more that you gained or tried to gain in my case~ stay away fellow Unilocalers~

* IF YOUR OIL CHANGE FOR YOUR CAR IS EXPECTED TO BE 30 MINUTES THEY WILL ASK YOU GET SYNTHETIC OIL OR REFUSE YOU SERVICE! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO (I am willing to testify in court under penalty of perjury that what I am about to say is true) * I cannot believe that this place even has 3 stars and it is very suspicious they have friends and family writing fake good reviews after my experience there… Three stars is always iffy (why are they not better rated with some satisfied customers willing to post their services on here and why do they have a couple full 5 reviews?). .Here is my story, after realizing I needed a oil change badly I drove to a place I thought would be receptive to my needs but instead I was met the face of horrible customer service. When I had arrived another customer had just finished paying and when that customer left I had expected the owner of the place to greet me, however I actually had to approach the owner behind the counter and welcome him into our interaction; this a very awkward an unwelcoming situation to begin with. The owner then proceeded to look at my car after I had asked for an oil change over the phone before driving there after I had called to ask if his services were available. The owner proceeded to tell me that he would only change my oil if I got synthetic oil which was expensive and the reasoning was that it was difficult to change my oil and that it would take 30 minutes on a 2004 IS300. Obviously he wanted more money for the supposed extra trouble. This was after I called the place which told me that if I was there 30 minutes before they closed they would accept to service my vehicle and so I assumed that 30 minutes was standard for them to change oil… How come I was told that 30 minutes was difficult when I had arrived about 50 minutes before they closed; keep in mind I was told if I wanted an oil change that I would have to be there 30 minutes before they closed (the amount of time I expected the oil change to be). After asking the owner and the owner angrily asking his worker if the car would take 30 minutes to change they decided to walk over to my car and see if it really would take 30 minutes to change my oil which would have resulted them finishing 20 minutes before they closed. They determined that it was the type of vehicle they deemed hard to change oil and so they refused to change my oil under the guise that I would need synthetic oil even though I never used the stuff. Out of frustration I asked the owner slyly «So you just don’t want to do it?» and his response was «No, I am sorry, sorry, sorry» and more sorry’s. So they lied to me and demanded I get an oil change with synthetic oil just so that they may make more money for a little extra time it would have taken them to change my oil. Here is the best part, I went somewhere a few minutes away and I was out within 10 minutes… This place takes 30 minutes to do a 10 minute oil change and therefore they obviously lack the skills required to work on vehicles… Why you would go to this place after what I just said? I do not know… Again if I had to, I would testify ALL of this information under penalty of perjury in a court of law and I just wish somebody to challenge me on what I just said, watch their security videos if you must, who approached who? Who is lying? Don’t take the chance, go somewhere where there are no complaints. Why risk it? I learned my lesson… I saw a poster in your building saying it valued Unilocal reviews so here you go Zak… Trust I will go back and rate you again! I am happy to be your unofficial secret shopper and will be checking up on you depending on my cars needs and writing reviews based on your services. Do not worry, my services are free!

Really sweet management and fast service. Only thing is there aren’t public restrooms.

When i lived in this area, I took all my vehicles here for their services to be done. Zack and his son are really cool people even hooked me up with special prices every now and then. All work was done professionally and i recommend this locale for your cars service needs!!!

The owner here is a total piece of shit (pardon my language). We came out to Milpitas from east bay area to play at Dave and busters and stopped at foster freeze to eat which is in the same parking lot. My car ended up not starting at all I couldn’t tell if it was the battery or what, anyways, my boyfriend walked over just to see if we could get a jump or if they could at least give us an idea, the mechanic said yeah no problem lets talk to the owner. The owner wouldn’t let us get a word in edgewise before telling us that he couldn’t help us. You own a garage, and you can’t simply jump somebody who is from out of town get a jump… That’s probably why your shop was empty.

Very fast and good service. Came in for an oil change and head light replacement at 4:30 pm… Drove out by 4:50 pm!
The owner was a very very sweet gentleman Zack. He was polite and explained everything.

Recently took my car for an oil change with a $ 25 coupon. Simple enough but my car cost extra according to them which resulted in $ 45. Since I was already there, had it done, no biggy. It was relatively fast 30 minutes and the staff was friendly but afterwards they were trying to sell me other services and a diagnostic test. I recall my check engine lite was on recently on another car. They said it might be a bad ERG and can be replaced for $ 490. They were not going to apply my diagnostic cost towards the repairs as most shops would do and secondly I did not care for «might» as it sounded uncertain. Btw, had the repairs done for $ 275 with after market parts. I have no strong objections to this place but just have the gut feeling they will sell you whatever they can and the coupon is to kinda bait and switch.

Women, DO NOT go here. I promise they will rip you off. I’ve been here probably 6 times because it was convenient and open on Saturday, but never again.
I should have been suspicious on my third and fourth visits when I realized that at every visit, they tried to upsell me.
I went for a smog check once on my 2006 Toyota, and they told me they couldn’t do it for some strange reason. I took it down the street and they did it no problem.
The visit after that he told me I needed a new battery. Admittedly by this time I was suspicious, so I took it to my mechanic who told me I had four more months at least on the battery. BTW, the cheapest battery at quality tune up was $ 159. The guy at the counter (Zack) actually said to me «We don’t want you to be stuck on the side of the road in the dark in this weather, alone. I mean I don’t want to scare you but it could happen.»
Stupidly, I still got one more oil change a month ago. Shortly thereafter it started leaking oil. So I took it to my mechanic and he told me that whoever did the last oil change did not put a gasket in the something-​or-​other, but instead used silicone which is why I was leaking oil.
All of the positive reviews are from men. I wonder if they just pray on women.
How a guy can look a regular customer in the face and lie about what they need or try to sell them things that they don’t need is despicable and embarrassing and he ought to be ashamed of himself. I thought it was a father and son business, but I’m not sure if is it. No matter, BUYER BEWARE.

Zack Srouji is an amazing man. Not only is he fair, honest, and trustworthy but also a wonderful boss and business owner. I worked with Zack for over 10 years and have brought several vehicles for major and minor servicing. He and his employees are respectful and kind. They greet you with a smile and call you by name. Zack has been in business for over 28 years and counting. Till this day, I still take my cars to Quality Tune-​Up Shops, MILPITAS location not only because I appreciate Zack and his amazing service but also because I know my car (s) are in good hands.

I love this place. The owner Zack is a straight forward shooter when it comes auto repairs/​maintenances and charging for their services. Fast, friendly, and honest service. I strongly recommend this place.

Tried to get my car smogged here today. I’ve had nothing but headaches trying to get my car smogged because it has a Ford Racing Bullitt intake on it. Every test center I take it to doesn’t want to touch it because they think it’s an after market part. It’s not but testers have their licenses taken away if they smog a modified vehicle that doesn’t have CARB E.O. numbers on it. I took the documentation in to these guys and unfortunately like everyone else they didn’t want to do it.
So why the 4 star rating? Well, the guy working at the counter recommended me to another shop down the street from them on Main Street and that guy did do the smog check. It was still a pain. I had to put him on the phone with the people at CARB to explain the situation, but at least I got my car smogged. Thanks to the quys at Quality Tune I was able to get my car smogged today.

Fast and courteous. I came early on a weekday morning though. :)

Smog check about $ 50 with coupon even. Dropped off before lunch. Picked up after lunch. No hassle.

My elder mother, who is now 81, took her vehicle to this establishment on a regular basis. I had not known about her going to this shop on a regularly until the last incident she told me about.
The engine light came on accompanied by rough engine idling. She pulls into the shop, waits three hours until they can hook up the vehicle for a diagnostic, they didn’t find a thing. The next day they send it to another mechanic for a second diagnostic of which they explained that the mechanic hooked it up and tapped on the fuel injectors and the engine began to run smoothly. They explain that the car now runs smoothly and nothing wrong was found with the vehicle. They say that because of short frequent trips, the fuel injectors were sticky and needed to be «cleaned». I butt into this situation at this point since I have some knowledge of vehicles so after $ 210.00 worth of diagnostics, I opted out for an expensive «cleaning» and put some fuel injector cleaner into the gas tank.
A couple of days later, the car again runs roughly of which I tell my mother to bring it into our trusted mechanic of which she should have done at the beginning of the situation. They diagnose the problem of malfunctioning fuel injectors which I researched and discovered that it is typical with this particular vehicle. Issue repaired and no problems for the last two months as of this writing.
I was also curious about this establishment so I checked out the Quality TuneUp invoices and I was surprised to find $ 60 oil changes and several hundred dollars worth of «unnecessary» fluid maintenance. It would make sense if my mother was driving a BMW or a luxury vehicle but she has a 1997 Toyota Camry with low mileage. Our trusted mechanic was also surprised at the amounts that Quality TuneUp had charged.
In conclusion, based on the inconclusive diagnostics, past invoices, and opinion of our trusted mechanic, I’m thinking an auto shop with questionable ethics and possibly exploiting customers not acquainted with automobile maintenance. To be fair, I did speak to the owner’s son and he appeared to be very nice, forthright, and a bit apologetic with me explaining in detail what they were doing with the vehicle. His father Zack did drive my mother to and fro. I suggest that his father refrain from speaking with English-​only speaking customers regarding the technical aspects because his English was incomprehensible.
However, I am a bit cautious of a business with mediocre ratings. Perhaps they are turning their ways around and the next Unilocal reviews will be more consistently positive. In all honesty, I say «yes» to smog checks and tire pressure check but for anything else, I would go elsewhere.

Came here to get my car repaired. Said they didn’t have enough staff and I’d either have to leave my car for a couple of days or come back. I needed my car repaired pronto and I don’t have a person to chauffeur me around so I asked where the next closest place was to get a repair. He said he didn’t know. RUDE! Felt like mechanics only want their business at their place. I recommend going to Auto Pacific in Fremont. They don’t waste your time there and they are very fast and sooooo friendly!!! If you have so much crap to do today it wouldn’t hurt your business to send people away. Also he gave me a false price of seeing what was going on with my car. He said it would be $ 125. At Auto Pacific they did it for free. FUCK THIS PLACE.
