Crowne Plaza San Jose-Silicon Valley

Pretty good place to stay, price wasnt to high for the area. The bar is a little pricey, but well worth it. The pool was being redone so we didn’t get to try it out.

We just hosted my son’s Bar Mitzvah party in the crystal ball room. It’s a small room for up to 70-​ish people. We had a small dance floor and DJ and 7 tables for dinner and 55 people. It felt like just the right size.
Overall all the event turned out fine — not a ruined evening or anything, but I think the level of service of the planning staff and event staff could really use some improvement.
I booked the room a year in advance (Sat night in June) and generally speaking the planning staff are possibly not staffed correctly in that they are hard to get a hold of and respond in a timely way. I don’t think they’re slackers which makes me think they’re a little understaffed by the management. I think the level of attention to detail and planning was good and on top of what needed to be planned and specified. I thought their food knowledge was very limited and they deferrred to the chef and catering staff for all of that so they became the middle man a lot and I had to wait for responss to questions. The room décor and table settings turned out fine. We also fit a hosted bar inside the room.
The food itself was good quality and what I would expect for the price. The steaks were probably the highlight — cooked correctly and good taste. My on has Celiac Disease and they accomodated with almost all Gluten Free food options and also accomodated another guest’s nut allergy. I was serving plated dinners but wanted to also serve appetizers at cocktail hour. I asked for recommendation on quantity and they under recommended — I was a little embarassed at how quickly the hot hors d’oeuveres vanished.
The room was too bright during dinner and when I asked it to be dimmed for dancing they seemed confused on how to operate the lights. After several requests, they finally got it right.
The service staff themselves (bartender and waiters) were professional, friendly, and attentive. The lead floor manager (not sure of her title), was a little stiffer and not particularly friendly. I tried to soften her up a little by being friendly, but she just didn’t loosen up. I think she just wanted to be somewhere else.
The real issue was the timing of the service and generally being rushed all night. The contract was to have the room until midnight, but it was a party with ½ the guests 11 – 15 years old so I knew we’d be done early. So the fact that they were rushing us out at 10:30pm was a bit astonishing and downright rude.
It started with the fact that there it was clearly stated that dessert was not to be served until 9pm. I wanted a break for dancing between the entrée and dessert. Suddenly after my entrée was cleared at 8:10, I was being served dessert. I asked the wait staff what was going on and he got me the floor manager. She said that a guest had asked for it. Excuse me??? since when do guests dictate such things. You simply reply ‘dessert will be served a little later’. I think she just wanted to finish the dinner portion of the evening as fast as possible so she could get out as early as possilbe. Then around 10pm — people still dancing — we had the room til midnight — they started clearing all the water pitchers and glasses. People were thirsty from dancing. It was weird. Then at 10:30 we finished the music but still 25 – 30 people were still lingering and talking. They closed the bar the second the music stopped — without asking me, telling me, making a last call??? how embarassing to have a guest go up and ask for a glass of wine and be told ‘no’. I was mortified as a host.
AT 10:45 at least 20 – 25 of us (lots of famlily from out of town catching up) were still lingering and talking, but they were folding up the table and rolling them out of the room. They were trying to get us out of there as soon as they could. I even mentioned to the floor manager, that we’re not done with the room yet. We’re going to hang out and talk, but she just blew me off.
Overall it was a good event. The guests enjoyed themselves. We had people staying in 6 rooms at the hotel which were nice and updated. The staff gave out my ‘welcome bags’ that I had made for my guests. The robot ‘DASH’ is very cool. The wait staff and chef at the restaurant were all very nice and attentive. Our guests enjoyed the pool and spa as well.
I did bring up my issues with the planning staff and they were pretty much ‘sorry about that, we’ll bring it up with the catering staff’ — just your basic lip service so I really doubt things will improve there.

This was the closest hotel to Fremont that offered a free shuttle to and from San Jose Airport. We had a check out time at 1:00 but our flight didn’t leave until 6:00 that evening but we could still use the shuttle. We could also take the shuttle within a 5 mile radius. Not much in the town but we were not there for that. Hotel was very clean. Nice employees. Good breakfast. Forgot my iphone charger but they had a docking station in the room. Perfect stay. We will use them again.

Years ago, the company I work for had a party here. I thought this was an average or below average hotel since it is next door to A busy shopping center but to my surprise, I am very impressed with the service and the quality of the room. Fortunately, my husband and I stayed here for free because of a winning prize. The staff is very friend, to have a nice size bar in the lobby, small but reasonable restaurant with a nice option for hot food for breakfast, and computer (PC and Apple) for The business clients. They also offer free Wi-​Fi. Their gift shop definitely needs improvements. There is no person or even a store for the gift shops. They have a little snack area where you purchase your snacks and health needs like Pepto-​Bismol at the front desk.
If we did not live nearby, I would definitely recommend staying here if we were visiting.

It’s a totally nice hotel, I like everything about it. The location is really good. There’s tons of places to eat, tons of places to shop and guess what?! There’s a running trail that runs by the hotel.
The lobby is really nice. The little communal area with the plush seats has nice high ceilings. Also right away there are the elevators, so there’s now walking around trying to find these guys from the lobby. The rooms are very nice too. The beds are extra comfy, there’s a TV, a desk with a chair, a closet to hang your clothes in. The bathrooms are nice as well, it has a shower, a tub, curtains, a sink with a faucet, and a toilet that flushes. Extremely complete is you ask me.
Anyways, a hotel room is a place of rest, that’s what it is to me. I go out and do whoever I need to do and see what I need to see. At the end of the day, I come back to it and rest so I could do it again the next day. I’m not the type to stay in my room all day, I’d rather be outside. Or in the fitness center. In this case, it’s really nice too.

Came out here for my company’s holiday party. A pretty decent hotel and one of the better ones in the Milpitas area of the bay area. A great venue for special events on a smaller scale, definitely one for you guys to try out!

3 years we’ve been holding our events at the Crowne Plaza now and each event has been great. We had some initial struggles with the young catering staff but Susann and Kristen have really been there for us to make our time and presentation very professional.
Food is good too, little pricing but comes with the territory. Freeway access is great and they have a burnt orange theme for décor which I’m down with.

This is my 4^th hotel in 5 days on this road trip. I’m here because I’m attending a training and it’s always easier to stay at the same hotel. Last night they were full, so I ended up staying next door at Hampton Inn. I really wish I’d stayed there… This hotel might have a nicer lobby and a restaurant, but the rooms are noisy, the beds aren’t as comfortable, and there’s some kind of a weird vibration coming through the wall that I can feel in bed. I’m exhausted and I have a headache, and all because I changed hotels… Ugh. The room doesn’t even have a fridge.
Good points: there is plenty of free parking, the meeting rooms are nice (and not freezing), the location is very good, and the bar/​restaurant has both good food and good service.

Another fantastic weekend stay at this awesome plaza !!! Comfortable, luxurious room with views of the Bay Hills. Plenty of parking. Conveniently located next to huge shopping centre with international cuisines. Easy access to freeways. Courteous staff.
I smelt no bad smell anywhere in the hotel, in fact i love the scent that greets you as enter the lobby from outside. Previous reviewers need their noses checked.

The front desk needs to work on their people skills. They way they ask what you need is rude. The last time we had a meeting their we asked several times for the AC to be turned down. We were freezing in the room. Heat was never turned on.
Events and Catering department is excellent.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times before over the last 10+ years. I have never had an issue that I recall. it has been at least 6 years since my last visit, but the property seems well-​maintained.
The room was clean and comfortable. Check-​in was quick. My limited interaction with the staff was uniformly pleasant. WiFi was fine, and included with no extra charge. There was no breakfast included; I ate in the restaurant one morning, and the ‘light’ buffet (least expensive option) was around $ 15.
If you are traveling on business, this place is convenient. Firms like Cisco and SanDisk are walk-​able, and you can access 237 in about 1 minute (which runs by a slew of other high-​tech companies). I had a very early flight out my last day, and was able to get from the hotel to SFO in just over 30 minutes (admittedly, this was starting out at 3:30 a.m.; plan for a much longer drive during rush hour).
There are also some off-​site restaurant options within walking distance. Literally across the street is a large plaza anchored by a Ranch 99 Market. The plaza features a wide variety of mostly Asian places (Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, and Indian, at least). You can also take a 5-​minute walk across 237 (braving heavier traffic) and reach another plaza that has more standard chain restaurants like Macaroni Grill and On the Border, if that is more to your taste.
Parking here is in a large surface lot around the hotel. The spaces seemed a bit tight, but you could always park at the edge of the lot where there were less cars.
The room did not have a mini refrigerator. This was not a big deal, other than the bottle of water I’d brought had been sitting in a hot car all day and I wanted to cool it off. I ended up using the provided ice bucket, which worked out fine.

The look of the hotel is very nice. I think they just remodeled this place not too long ago. I’ve rated this place two stars because of amenities and staff courteousness.
I booked a room at this location because no rooms were available at an affiliate hotel in the vicinity. The first person I spoke with was one of those people who use that fake tone, where they are halfway trying to be courteous, but when you say something they either cut you off or are passive-​aggressive. I thought that maybe it was just a bad time, we’re all human. I arrived with my family – I was staying in the area because I was on orders for the week and my wife and kids were going to be with me half of the time. I walked in and the lobby is really nice. One person was being helped by a one of the receptionists. The other receptionist was tending to some robot that another employee was filming with their phone camera. At the time, I did not know that the lady who was with the robot was a front desk clerk. Anyway, I was on lunch and was in a hurry to check in. I was also in uniform so I thought that would be a given. had to wait for the other receptionist whom was helping another customer. She was cool (same one I spoke with during my initial call), checked me in quick and was courteous. Went up to the room to drop off our bags and noticed that the room had a must lingering in the air. Smelled like old carpet. Not too bad, just noticeable. We had just checked out of another hotel due to a terrible experience so we didn’t care because the last place smelled like BO and 20 years of must. Since I was going to be staying for the week, I had food with me. Next thing I noticed was that there was no fridge. Surprising since it was a big hotel, but I’ve seen that before. I’ve stayed at a Comfort Inn Suite that did not have a fridge, but they comp’ed me one since I was staying for a month. Then we noticed that there wasn’t even a microwave. I’ve been in the military for almost a decade and I’ve stayed at MANY hotels. The crappiest ones even had microwaves. I called later on addressing the situation. Spoke to the same person and I was getting irritated because she kept cutting me off while I was talking (again). Once she hears what you have to say, she just begins answering even though you’re still speaking. Her reason behind the hotel room not having the microwave and fridge was because there was a restaurant downstairs. LOL. So if I’m staying on business for an extended amount of time, what am I supposed to do with my left over food? I have to eat it within a day or so because it will spoil with no fridge. I also have to eat it cold because there is no microwave lol. Or maybe I could just go downstairs and ask them if they could heat my food up for me. The receptionist said that they could bring both up for a one-​time fee of $ 10 per appliance. I respectfully asked if they could comp’ me since I was staying and ATTEMPTED to explain the situation that caused us to leave our last hotel and stay at her location, but I was cut off AGAIN and she repeated the same lame answer of the restaurant and if I have a problem, she can have her manager contact me. I said no that’s fine, I had to get back to work. I figured that I could have my wife deal with the issue while I was at work. She told me that she went downstairs to speak to the front desk and when she gave them her info, the lady had an irritated look on her face and did not seem thrilled to help. She just directed her to call the manager on shift. So my wife called and the manager that was on shift said, «since your husband is a gold member, I will comp both items.» Leaves me wondering, what if I wasn’t a gold member? Seems like small issues, but I think it was dealt with poorly. After that, you can’t help but observe the customer service. We came and left many times, was greeted only twice – once by a younger Filipino guy, another by a younger Filipino girl. The other front desk clerks (only two that I saw, older Filipino ladies) just stood there. There is definitely a smug feel to it. It’s a shame because I’ve stayed at other IHG locations and have had amazing customer service, particularly at the Holiday Inn Express (stayed at over 8 and all had stellar service). I just moved out of the area, so whenever I’m on duty, I have to stay at a hotel. This could be as little as four days, but up to 30. I know where I won’t be staying when I’m in town on business and I’ll be sure to pass this along to the many other people I work with. It’s a shame because this poor rating is 90% based on customer service. But being in the hospitality business, it doesn’t matter how nice your facility is, the foundation is customer service.

I was very glad we choose this hotel for a short weekend trip.
We had an issue at first with the woman at the counter who did not understand we have a service dog and will not be charged additional pet fees for housing him. They were very good about addressing this issue for us and upgraded our standard room to a suite for our troubles.
Other than that initial issue we had no problems at all. Staff was all very friendly including this really neat robot they have that brings your toiletries to your door!
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting nearby cities it is a very convenient location and you have easy access to all of the freeways.

Nice contemporary, clean rooms. Complementary mouthwash was nice! Complementary Internet is extremely slow (~1Mb download, 0.01 upload) and the Complementary keurig made cold coffee. I get hotels are trying to be nice with the complimentary stuff but their efforts are like giving months-​old food to the homeless. Bed, couch, and shower was comfortable, though.

I cant review everything about this place since I didnt stay here– I just came for an event– so I have no idea how the rooms are.
We came here for a party in one of the large rooms. The first thing I noticed was nice big parking lot with lots of available parking — this may sound dumb, but living in Los Angeles where the hotel parking is terrible I was happy with this place… until I got out of car! Holy CRAP did it smell, lol, seriously it smelled like we were right next to pig farm! Strangely enough when we left it didn’t smell– maybe the winds shifted? Someone said there was a dump or something a ways away but it smelled like were in it.
The lobby was nice and the conference room that the party was in was the standard boring conference room but nice enough. The food was actually really good so that was good. The people working were hit and miss– some were nice and some were kinda not. kinda like they were not having fun, but it was just a couple things that I didn’t like. There was also an medical emergency situation later in the night and as you can expect some people were freaking out and yelling out for the ambulance, I saw someone do this and a waiter chastised her for yelling down to the lobby for the ambulance– but maybe he was just freaked out as well, but I didn’t like his response.
There was a warrior basketball game on that we wanted to sneak away from the party and go to the bar to hang out grab a beer and watch some but their cable provider didn’t get the warriors game.
This place is hit and miss, but maybe the rooms are nice?

Stayed here a couple of times. The interior has always been very clean, and in general the hotel does seem really nice even though it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere.
Breakfast on the top floor is a really nice touch. There’s almost no hot food, so don’t be expecting bacon and eggs. However, there’s a good continental spread, plenty of newspapers, and the news on. The staff has always been extremely friendly and professional — the front desk even greeted us by name after a day or so, which was very surprising.
One big perk is that this Crowne Plaza is literally across the street from a huge Asian shopping center — 99 Ranch, some great Chinese food, you name it.

Contemporary rooms and spacious.
Lobby is welcoming and the elevators require card access to go up.
There is quite a fine dining restaurant in the hotel itself and a very large plaza across the block from this hotel. Very convenient indeed.

RECENTLY REMODELED HOTEL
Overall, I had a lovely time during my stay at the CROWNE PLAZA. If you are hungry, there’s a restaurant & bar located on the ground floor, or you can walk across the street to the Chinese plaza.

— Rooms are newly remodel
— Each bed have 4 pillows
— Aromatherapy kit
CONS:
— Hate their shampoo and conditions, smell like men’s stuff
— No bug control?
My friends and I tried to go outside to enjoy the pool and hot tub in the evening, but Milpitas was covered with flying insects. It’s nasty how flying bugs are flying everywhere in the lobby and 3^rd floor (where the doors to the pool area are located). They should really install some sort of air vents to prevent bugs from coming inside the hotel.
Overall, we had a great experience during our stay. Would definitely stay here again!
