I had the BBQ chicken and rice/macaroni. The Mac came in a little cup which I’m used to it piled on with the rice. The chicken had skin which I prefer not to have. I think the chicken katsu and fried shrimp are the best bets here. Overall, not a bad spot.

I’ve been a customer for many years. Each time I visit I would order my favorite dish Chicken Katsu. They make it fresh, chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside, and portions are huge. It’s the one place with very consistent food made to order, just perfectly prepared each time! Service is top notch for fast food. The only negative is parking — bit hard to find parking during lunch. I have not been disappointed! Thanks L & L!

Craving Hawaiian while in California. This place satisfied the urge in the best way. Basic setup, nothing fancy with wonderfully good, hearty Hawaiian SOUL food. Yea. Hawaiian soul food/comfort food. The Kailua pork was heavenly– came with rice and fried fish. Took it to go enjoy with a bottle of wine. It was so good, there were no leftovers.

Aloha Hawaiian BBQ! Mahalo L&L for being the only shining beacon of Hawaiian food in Millbrae haha. Although I’ve tried Ohana, Hawaiian Drive-In, etc., L&L is THE chain in the Bay Area and I am grateful for that. This location is near 101 highway and the BART/Caltrain station on Rollins Road. It’s next to In n Out, Panera Bread, and a Chinese café. Although choices are abundant, if I am craving Hawaiian, the craving stays! #pseudopreggo Tried the Chicken Katsu, Chicken BBQ, Spam Musubi. I liked all three of them particularly with the meal options including macaroni and rice. I would opt for brown rice and greens if I wasn’t such an unhealthy fatty, but it’s Hawaiian food afterall. If you’re looking for quality protein meat, you’re better off finding a local Hawaiian restaurant. The meat here seems to be the dark kind and frozen. The Chicken BBQ is «stringy» but I don’t mind. I actually come here when I crave that kind of comfort food. Everyone is correct when they say the portion for the musubis are skewed. It’s like 90% rice and 10% meat, but it’s still pretty tasty. The vinegar rice in the musubi is soft and tender. Their macaroni is solid but I wish it came in a bigger portion or container(maybe I was spoiled by Ohana), but paying $ 1+ for a tiny cup isn’t appealing. Ratio of mayonnaise isn’t overwhelming and doesn’t guilt you afterwards. Although the quality is mediocre, the prices are reasonable, usually under $ 10. Service is quick and friendly enough, although the dilapidated interior could use some attention and TLC. I can’t wait to try the RAMENBURGER mmhm!

Not a bad place to catch a bite after taking BART home from the city. In and out is always so crowded so my brother and I decided to go here. Tiny little space but I suspect most people take the food out. We ate here. Service was very friendly. Food was prepared fresh, because it was piping hot! As in, cut your chicken up first to let some steam out before you dig in. Love their macaroni salad with the rice and chicken katsu. My brother got the bowl with the same chicken and rice but with Broccoli instead of macaroni. You do get a lot of food, I ordered a mini plate and had enough for lunch the next day! I will say the most negative thing for me was the bathroom. Only one, and it felt like I hadn’t left the city. Smelled bad, felt dirty to me. But I had to wash my hands after being on bart, so it was necessary to use. They could definitely clean that up!

Came here, because I was waiting to pick up my parents at SFO, which was located in a plaza. There was In and Out burger as well as Panera. It was your typical hawaiian place. Nothing wow about it. But they did have a different menu compare to the ones that I went to in the east bay. The bbq chicken had a small and a large. I got a small for $ 5.95. Price wasn’t too bad. Can’t complain about that. It came with rice, macaroni salad, and chicken. The chicken was very salty for me. Had a strong salty taste to me. Wasn’t a fan of it. Can’t go wrong with rice and macaroni salad. Rating: Food: 3(chicken was salty for me) Price: 4 Ambience: 2 Service: 3 Overall: 3 Can’t eat salty food.

So far the best L & L I had! Their selection in meat looks like a complete meal, where some places pick the skinniest rib or the flabby fat part with no meat… The quality here is great and where the costumer services meets together. This place seems like the locals come here often where there is a continuous line. Food comes out fast too! Coming back again, when I’m feeling some fast Hawaiian food.

Located right next to the In N Out(almost lured me in). If you go here around 5pm, the parking lot is packed. Small establishment. Maybe 6 tables or so. No real room to wait if you’re ordering out. Friendly cashiers. Portions are huge! Prices are very reasonable. My favorite is their chicken katsu. They give you so much! Their macaroni salad is so good; I always ask for extra. Can’t wait to come back and try their spam masubi and locco mocco.

L&L is awesome! You can’t go wrong with the Chicken Teriyaki, and the portions are… wait for it… huuuuggge!(cue bad Donald Trump impression xD. They also have a great assortment of Hawaiian cookies and beverages. Definitely a welcome reminder for those of us who have been to the islands. Pro tip: For an extra calorie bomb, ask them for two scoops of macaroni salad and one scoop of rice. Or three scoops of macaroni salad if you’re loco moco!

This location just gave me the most katsu chicken of any other location, which is also the bombest fried chicken.

I forever love L&L. Khalua pork with cabbage is my favorite! The meat is perfect and the cabbage is such a great pair. The sauce with the rice– I can eat it all day. It’s so good that my hella picky dog, who would literally starve himself if I don’t feed him what he likes, eats it and licks the container clean when I give him the last of mine. Listen, you need to try it. Other than that, I also like the beef short ribs but sometimes I find it difficult to eat with utensils so I only order it when I’m willing to get my hands dirty. The chicken katsu is pretty tasty also. It was my favorite growing up because it’s like grown up chicken fingers. The people at this store are friendly. They get their jobs done and they’re usually too busy to converse with, especially at lunch. Gotta applaud them for their service!

I’ve been to many different Hawaiian BBQ places in the Bay Area in my time, many of them also L&L, but this spot is my fave for Hawaiian BBQ. I don’t know why and how but they cook it better here. The Mac Salad is always good and the musubi is also very good here. The only issue I have is the inconsistency of the Ribs they serve, some have meat, some do not. The Chicken though, is always big and tasty. One more issue is that they put the Sriracha in the back now so people who like the sauce, like me, can’t get a healthy dose of it, haha I guess cuz Sriracha is very pricey? ;P Again, though, these are small issues and I still prefer this BBQ place over other BBQ places in the area. Parking can be bad so if you are going there during lunch or dinner, try to find parking outside the lot.

Today’s Special(Tuesday): BBQ Chicken and Beef Curry ( ) L&L has always been close to my heart since my early college days and this one did not disappoint. The portion size is your standard big L&L portion and the food is consistent to the usual standard. The BBQ Chicken was spot on and exactly what I expected, but the Beef was a little tough and overcooked — probably why it was a «special» of the day. So if you’re ever in the beautiful city of Millbrae and wanna get your L&L fix, don’t hesitate to swing by. Parking may be limited at peak hours cause this joint is right next to a very popular In n Out!

I came here when I was staying at the Marriott in Burmingame. I walked right across the bridge and here I was. It was late and all they had was katsu chicken since they were closing in 10 minutes, so I got a bowl. It wasn’t bad. Standard Asian fast food.

My perfect goto meal for after or before a workout. Within a mile away from my house and literally right off the freeway. The staff is friendly and plenty of seating inside and outside. Also plentiful of parking. My favorite is the bbq mix plate, chicken katsu, and the spam musubis. Only con I can think of is when it gets crowded is the orders can get backed up.

I been to multiple of their locations and one common thing that I fill the all restaurant should pay more attention to is the type of silverware that the business is providing. LL Hawaiian BBQ seems to care less about cause they provide the cheapest plastic fork and knife I have ever received from a restaurant. I can barely cut the bbq meats I ordered. I practically bend the plastic fork and knife before being able to cut a small piece of bbq beef. I hope LL Hawaiian will replace these fork and knifes with some that is useable !! I would have given them a 1 star but their BBQ was tasty!

L&L gets a bad rep, and at risk of losing any credibility I may have on Unilocal I’m giving them a solid 4 stars for a couple reasons. 1. BBQ chicken bowl($ 4.95) — 4STARS: For fast food this is pretty satisfying — the chicken at Sarku, nothing super special but savory and tender. 2. Calories: it’s listed on most everything. I’m curious about the ramen burger :) they let you swap rice for steamed broccoli. 3. Price: alright $ 4.95 doesn’t compare to the sub $ 4 double double in price/deliciousness but for flavor calories and size it’s a pretty good deal. Much better than what you might pay at Panera So L&L is no destination, but they have some unique items you don’t need to wait in line for 4 hours for(ramen burger — ahem ramen festival) and a decent menu with a bunch of pretty tasty items you can make somewhat healthy. The only issue is that the food comes out kinda slow, but at least you know it’s made to order!
