I wasn’t pleased to fail the smog check, but the guy there correctly diagnosed it as a bad catalytic converter and referred me to a Johnny Franklin which gave me a reasonable estimate. The second smog check was free and my vehicle passed after the necessary repairs. This location is star-​certified by the state and I trust them to be competent and honest.

I had a terrific experience here.
Aric helped me out big time with my truck that failed a smog test. He pointed me in the direction of two other very honest and fair businesses that fixed my problems quickly. He really knows his stuff, and was very patient with me (I know very little about how an engine works).
Another thing that I like about this place is that he runs it very efficiently. Appointments don’t get backed up. Quality guy, quality place.

Fast fair and efficient things that you look while dealing with a government run system. Made an appointment which was kept on time and the test was completed quickly. Lisa was fair and helpful.
Lisa is no longer here so can no longer endorse the service. Went by to see about scheduling an appointment and talked with some guy who said Lisa was no longer there and did not seem that interested in my business.

She’s simply The Best: Extremely knowledgeable, and very careful with our performance automobile. The shop is compact and very well equipped. This is where we’ll take our cars from now on. It’s no wonder she’s become the local favorite for this service. Spectacular service — quick and painless.

Just as the other reviews say, Lisa is great, and the service provided is the best. If you are interested only in the cost, go elsewhere, but remember you get what you pay for.
I gladly paid $ 70 for courteous, prompt and efficient service. The bonus was: Lisa discovered that the licence plate number on my 2001 Ranger PU did not match the licence plate number on the registration. I went back through all of the previous year’s registrations and the error has been there since the first registration in 2001. It was just luck that for the past 12 years I have not been stopped by a cop that noticed the difference. Thank you, Lisa

I found this place because of Unilocal,and I agree with the rest of the reviews. The woman who runs this place is very very good at what she does, and it adds up to everything I look for in a smog check – quick, efficient, super-​friendly, and easy. I’ve paid less than $ 70 for a smog check when I’ve taken my truck to the east bay, but when you factor in gas, tolls, and most importantly time, this place wins. What other smog check place takes appointments and then has you out 10 minutes after you roll in?

Wow. I hate dealing with things like smog checks, but I have to say this was a positive experience. Not a positive smog check experience, because that’s never really all that fun. Rather, this was just a positive experience in general. I know it seems odd, but this was just one of those times that you’re reminded how genuinely good natured people can be. The gal running the place was extremely kind, and very much «on it». She offered me a bottle of water and got my car smoged in 10 minutes. It wasnt the speed or water that made me happy, however, it was the kind and energetic attitude everyone had. If you need to check a smog off your list, come here. They make it painless.

Was a little hard to find using Google Maps on my phone, the GPS told me it was on busy 101 North. Thankfully I live nearby and knew that it meant Redwood Highway Frontage road, the one with In and Out on it (Yum).
Lisa is a wonderful attendant who is quick with her smile and her work. The value-​added services of friendly talking (she even gave me a trail map) and discounts make this a great place to go for above average service and care. In this world where we are always looking to shave pennies and save quarters, I’m always looking for these kinds of places, they may not have the «LOWEST» price, but who cares, my day and my life are brighter after such a wonderful experience… that is value beyond pennies and quarters.

It was 2 years ago that I first discovered Mill Valley Smog for my ’97 Boxster. I gave Lisa a 5 star.rating. Two years later I was back for the mandatory smog test. I know that not all smog test facilities can do Boxsters, there’s something about locating a place in the engine area for visual inspection and with a Boxster, you can’t just pop the hood to see the engine. You have to know where it is. I passed and like last time she pointed out where figures were moving up and if I was due for a tune up it would help. Quick, friendly, smart and she knows her stuff. Her experience and the experience is a 5 Star rating!

Wow, everyone is right. This is a great place! Lisa was SO friendly and professional. Best of all, she explained the results of the smog test and what caused the numbers. Perhaps she missed her calling as a teacher…
She gave me the current discount that I didn’t know about and the best part was that she doesn’t treat women as if they’re dumb because this involves a car (something the people at car dealerships should learn).
