Hawaii Self Storage

Extremely satisfied with cleanliness, staff assistance, pricing and the atmosphere is so different from the self-​storage in Waipio, Ka Uka Blvd. I found a nice unit. Only thing is I have to climb up on step ladder but otherwise, it is perfect for my belongings. $ 40 less than what I was paying every month at the other horrible place.

I use to use kaimuki and now mililani storage. Always friendly people there! I go back to and from Japan frequently for work and need storage when out of my condo. The storage building is always clean and i feel safe. どうもありがとう ;)

This facility is the best I was able to find. I found it online with reasonable rates. I was looking for a facility with 24 hour AC for the delicate items to store and they have it. What helps make them attractive is the solar energy they use to cut down their cost and pass the savings to the customers.
If you’re lucky you might get into an introductory offer. It’s about a 33% savings. They don’t tell you how long that offer is good for but mine lasted 6 months before the cost got bumped up. One trick I see customers do is to close their account and reopen it under someone else’s name, friend or spouse, get the introductory rate and keep the same unit. It’s not something I would do but it doesn’t look like they can stop you.
Because I did my reservation online it made the process easy and quick to rent my unit once I was there in person. Of course, I was offered several options and by law had to inform me of certain cans and don’ts. Very quick and painless.
The facility is clean. At other facilities floors can get dirty or trash can be seen. I have not seen anything like that here. I love that I can park my car inside. Means I don’t have to deal with the rain and I’m right there immediately accessing their hand trucks and elevators to get to my unit.
The security is impressive. You have to enter a pass code to get into the facility. Then, to get into the floor you want to go to you first have to enter your pass code again. Then, enter the floor you want. Your pass code is only good to give you access to the floor your unit is on. So, if you request a different floor… DENIED. The cameras are motion sensors. Once you enter your floor, the cameras are following you. Everywhere.
The one thing that annoys me is when I’m working there for long periods, I have to get back in the hall and move around so the sensors pick me up and turn the lights back on. I bring a lantern that helps me see in my dark unit but when the hall lights go out it’s pretty dark. And scary. LoL.
When I do have to access my unit, I sometimes try to time it when the food trucks are there parked in the street right out infront. It helps save me time when I have a lot of things to do and not much time to do them.
They do have another facility in Kapolei that has a swap meet. If you have a unit with Hawaii Self Storage, like I do, that qualifies you to setup and sell at the swap meet. I don’t know if it’s free or if you get a bargain price. I think it’s an interesting option worth looking into later. I haven’t seen other facilities carry this option.
Looking for a good, clean facility with AC? It may be a little out of the way for you but they do have good customer service with some great amenities.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this storage building!!! The staff is wonderful the security is top notch and the access hours are great. I had one small problem with my bill, went in the next day and they fixed it with no worries. And come to find out it was even my fault. For military I would highly recommend this place. They are very helpful and friendly. This is one of those businesses on oahu that is not looking to screw over the military. Thank you guys for all the help especially on the move in and move out days. If I ever get stationed back here you guys will be my first and only choice for storage.

Hawaii Self Storage is second to none! As a business owner, I store ALL of my valued merchandise here and have ZERO concern for its safety. Just to get to a unit after hours, you have to punch in a 7-​digit code to get into the gate as well as to get up the elevator. They have security cameras in every nook and cranny of that place and even place an overnight staffer there from time to time for added peace of mind. I also love that they are climate controlled, have power back up and provide so many business services (conference room access, package/​mail acceptance, etc.) for those like me. They are a life saver and I can’t imagine running my business without them!

I would personally not recommend this place because I feel that I received poor customer service.
We’ve had a storage unit here for almost 2 years now. Recently we decided to switch from our 5’x5’ unit to a 5’x10’ to accommodate our growing needs. The 5’x5’ unit was under my name. We were told that I would have to go in to cancel the account & that Daniel couldn’t do that for me. That’s a reasonable policy.
I couldn’t go close the account until the weekend, but we needed the larger space right away, so Daniel went in to open a new account under his name for the 5’x10’ unit. We planned to go in together during the weekend to close my account for the smaller unit.
Ultimately a decent deal was worked out with the manager, Trinity, for the new unit. Lehua showed Daniel to the unit and was extremely rude to him. She wasn’t polite at all, & made him feel very uncomfortable.
We were frustrated because the staff had not been polite & customer service just overall sucked, but everything would have been fine EXCEPT there were TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF 5’x10’ units! Daniel & I had assumed that there was only one type. Another girl had shown us the size indicated by tape on the ground in the main office & we liked the size but she didn’t tell us that there was a 5′ deep by 10′ wide space & a 10′ deep by 5′ wide space. We assumed that there was only a 5′ deep by 10′ wide space because that’s what made sense to us. This whole time that Daniel was negotiating pricing with Trinity, everyone involved had failed to mention that we had two different options. They also didn’t tell us that if we wanted a unit on the 1^st floor, it would be at a premium price.
Daniel had to go pick up our daughter after Lehua showed him to the new unit, so he didn’t have time to discuss the size of the unit right then & there. He returned the next day but was directed to come back the following day when the manager, Trinity would be in. So he went in the next day & basically he was treated very poorly. They seemed irritated at him, but in the end he signed new documents for a more expensive space on the 1^st floor that was the correct 5′ deep by 10′ wide dimensions. The 10′ deep unit didn’t work for us, as we need to access our items in storage often.
After reviewing our bills, I found that we were charged $ 25 for the initial registration of the 5′ wide x 10′ deep unit, & ANOTHER $ 25 for moving from that unit to the 10′ wide x 5′ deep unit. I was outraged. It was not our fault at all that they had signed us up for the 5′ wide unit. If they were clear about the option, we would have immediately gone for the 10′ wide unit.
We both went in to discuss this with the staff. Surely this was a mistake. After some tense interaction with the staff, we were told that no one at that location could authorize a credit on our account, so we needed to email Trinity what we wanted & that she would forward on to someone who is authorized to credit our account.
We emailed Trinity with our request as soon as we could. We also contacted HSS via their website. We didn’t get a response. About a week later, we also messaged them on Facebook. No response. About a month after our initial email, we replied to the promotional emails that they were sending out with our request yet again. Daniel received a very angry phone call from Trinity. Her demeanor was very unprofessional & downright rude. She told him that our account was credited $ 25 already & she didn’t know why she was receiving these emails from us. He told her that we hadn’t received any notification via phone, email, or mail that we were credited. She said that she cannot communicate any of this financial information to me, because my name is not on the account… but that really shouldn’t matter because Daniel should have been contacted about it, & he wasn’t. Then she went on to ask him something along the lines of, «We gave you what you wanted, why are you emailing us?»
In the end, the $ 25 didn’t matter to us at all. We were just baffled at the horrible customer service. No one apologized to us about anything (actually we did after i posted this). We understand there was a misunderstanding. They should have communicated our options to us clearly from the start, but hey, that could have been an honest mistake. They should have apologized to us & made us feel like valued customers, regardless of whether or not they gave us the $ 25 back. We spent around $ 85/​month for almost 2 years, & we have agreed to spend almost $ 150/​month moving forward, probably for a few years since we just bought a house down the street… so we felt like they should just treat us with respect.
I have never ever in my life experienced such poor customer service. The staff, specifically Trinity & Lehua are horrifically rude. Unfortunately, there are no other storage options near us & we need the space so we have to continue to rent at HSS for the time being.

*This review is specifically based off of the experience i’ve had so far. Mostly referring to the moving service* I just got a storage unit with this place a few weeks ago and was in a big rush to move things out of my apartment due to a last minute deployment. The prices seem to be really reasonable but the one thing that really sold me on this place was the free moving truck service. I was told that I would be contacted within one to two days after I signed the lease to schedule a pick up. After a few days when I never heard back from anyone I called the office and was somewhat rudely told to just be patient and that they would be contacting me soon. Almost two weeks went by when I finally gave up and just called another moving company. It actually turned out better for me because I needed not only the truck, but movers to help me as well and I found quite a few companies that were way cheaper than the $ 100 an hour the Hawaii self storage movers were asking. Either way, I found it really frustrating that no one ever bothered to call and set up an appointment with me to get everything moved. Especially since that was one of the main features of this company that caught my eye in the first place.

Awesome storage place. Open 24 hours a day with a full staff from 9 to 6 pm. What I didnt realize about storage places is that along with your rent, it comes with great customer service.
Covered loading dock, free hand trucks, free meeting room use, free computer center and its all air conditioned.
Located in the Mililani Tech Park, its across the street from Oceanic Cable. You cant miss this huge facility as you can see it right from the freeway.
Rates are not to bad but can be pricey for things you never will use again. hehe I have a rule that if you havent used it in 6 months, you will probably never use it. Throw it away and if you need it, you can purchase a new one.
Hawaii Self Storage is owned by MW Group… owners of Pioneer Plaza, Nimitz Business Center, Aiea Shopping Plaza, Plaza Retirement homes just to name a few.

I’ve had a storage space here for a while now Trinity the Manager was very nice to work with and even when I had to downsize it was painless. I do like the fact that they are proactive as I forgot to make my payment and they called me so I wouldn’t incur a late fee.
What is also great is I can get delivery’s sent there and they will hold it for me.
The place is clean and bathrooms are available as well as carts and packing supplies if you need them.
I was concerned that they cut down the 24 hour access but actually access stops late so it really didn’t affect me even though I go to my storage at various times to get my products.
