Snowflake Pet Center is the largest and oldest established boarding and grooming service offering pick up and delivery.

The Veterinary Hospital has operated for the past ten years. We have affiliations with the Shoreline Emergency Hospital in Stratford and New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine, for those unexpected situations that need medical care after our regular hours.

Open 6 days a week for hospital, boarding, daycare, and grooming plus, convenient Sunday pick-​up and drop off hours for boarding only.

We have a very experienced, knowledgeable team of licensed Veterinarians at our family owned business, Snowflake Pet Center. It has been family operated for over 40 years. Bob and Kathi Mickolyzck and staff have been helping to keep pets healthy and happy for years.

History

Established in 1969.

We have been a family owned and run business since 1969. We board both dogs and cats and they both have indoor/​outdoor runs, which are all individual. The cats are in a separate area from the dogs.

We also have a fully equiped Hospital where we can do everything from routine visits to sick visits, Surgeries, dental work, x-​rays, and a in-​hospital laboratory. We can handle everything and if we can’t we will bring in a Specialist or refer you to one.

We have a great Grooming facility as well. Treat your dog or cat for a day of pampering, with a great smelling bath and then a nice brushing and/​or beautiful haircut, then with a finishing touch of a pedicure, nails cut.

On top of all this, we offer Playtime, Yappy Hour, and walks, at an additional charge.

Our hours of opperation are:

Boarding: Mon-​Sat 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sun 9:00 — 10:00 am and 5:00 — 6:00 pm

Grooming: Mon-​Sat by appointment

Veterinary Hospital: Mon-​Sat by appointment

Business Owner

Snowflake Pet Center was founded in 1969. It began as just a grooming/​boarding business, then quickly excelled to boarding, grooming, veterinary hospital and daycare. It is a «one stop shop» as we have been told by many of our supportive customers. We currently have 4 generations, 3 of which are actively involved with day to day operations. The fourth generation is still learning to walk. Everyone is always willing to help, if you ever have questions or concerns please feel free to contact us! We are a very friendly, down to earth family run business.

My 17 and 25 year old daughters brought my cat in because he had a lump on his nose. At the time of the visit, she told my daughters the cat had a severe heart condition and could die at any time. She had my daughters sobbing in the office believing their beloved cat would die soon. 457 dollars later I got a call from Dr. Dielo telling me that my cat either had a fungal infection or cancer. She told me the biopsy was traveling to pathologists around the country in order to discern what type of fungus this was. Her recommendation was anesthetize our cat to do a FULL BODY SCAN to search for cancer, but the cat probably would not survive the procedure because of the heart condition. That’s when we decided that we should bring our cat to a different vet. Our new vet took exactly 5 minutes to test and diagnose our cat’s harmless fatty tumor on his nose. Guess what? No heart condition!
Perhaps Snowflake’s Pet Center Dr. Dielo was looking to pay off her student loans.

If I could give no stars I would!!! Most awful boarding kennel I have ever experienced. The staff is rude the kennels are dirty and the dogs are crying! I wish I wasn’t desperate for boarding when I took my dog there. Please don’t ever take an animal there ever! It’s appalling that they remain in business

Quoted prices on the phone only to be told they were much higher after my visit. Mentioned this to desk employee and she gave me some insulting remark. Not very business like treatment.

I don’t write negative reviews about places because generally after a bad experience I don’t go back. This was different. Snowflake was recommended to me by a friend who sang praises about them and they were very accommodating and answered all my questions. Being a vet office as well made me think this was a good place to bring my dog. The first time I dropped my dog off everything was fine (probably harder on me than him). When I picked him up I noticed he was a little dirty, smelled a little like urine and was ready to bolt out of that place. He then proceeded to bark at me in the car and acted very unsettled, my dog does not bark. I brushed it off because he was back to pretty much normal when I we got home with the exception to being VERY thirsty. 2nd time bringing him there he freaked out a little when I dropped him off but the staff rushed me out and said he would be fine. I picked him up and he was noticeably thinner, dirty/​smelly, and again acted the same way unsettled way when I got him in the car. He will not eat if he is in a very stressed state. Also VERY thirsty again when I got him home. The last time (and it will be the last time) I brought him… pulling into the parking lot he immediately started shaking and whining as he did in the front office. I couldn’t cancel the reservation at this time because I was going away. Picking him up was the last we will set foot near that place. I will never bring my dog back. sorry I gave them three chances. I should have peace of mind when I leave my dog in someone else’s care and all I did was think about him while I was away.

AWFUL experience!
Technicians are extremely ROUGH with the animals! Two female techs abruptly dragged my cat out by the nap of his neck and forcefully held him down to clip his nails. He was so scared and wailing for his life that I had them stop after his hind legs! I asked if I could hold him in my arms to comfort him so they could continue and they refused saying, «we don’t normally have people in here at all and we don’t feel comfortable with that» with attitude!!! I reused to let them touch him again and they brought in a third tech who was a kind elderly gentleman who allowed me to hold him. ask for him if you DARE to go here. It was such a terrible experience never in my life has my cat ever suffered such cruel treatment from a groomers! It left us both visibly disturbed and I will NEVER go back there! DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE! Even in the waiting room I could hear dogs howling from fear it was like a torture chamber!!! AWFUL AWFUL PLACE

Took my soft-​coated wheaten terrier puppy in for a «trim» of his face and even gave specific instructions regarding the expectations. Miscommunication or misinterpretation happened as the result of the trim was more than just a trim. The equivalent of a toddler being told to give an adult a haircut using clippers for the first time. Perhaps even further detailed should have been given but regardless we will be looking for an alternate grooming service for our wheaten terrier.
All in all professionalism was lacking from my point of view.

my dog ended up here when some people working on the house kicked down the dog fence and didn’t bother to put it back up and he was picked up by the city. when i picked my dog up, he was crying and extremely excited, not like him at all. he’s a very aloof shiba, so this was concerning. then, sure enough, a few days later he has kennel cough. he’s vomiting and hacking every two minutes, shaking, tail unfurled. Where do i go now??? the same place where he got sick? Lots of bad reviews for here on other sites, would advise an alternative.

I brought my dog to be boarded at Snowflake while I went out of state for several days. He was fine when we brought him in, but once we went back to get him there was something wrong with his eye. It was very dry and you could tell just by looking at him something wasn’t right. The staffer who brought him out also mentioned his eye, but seemed very nonchalant about the whole situation. I ended up having to bring my dog to a special eye doctor, and the result was the eye being removed.
I’m upset and disappointed because the staff at Snowflake did not contact us about his eye. If we’d known sooner, it would have been possible to save it.
