How We Got Started

After driving 3,000 miles with our 4 dogs, we know what it’s like to want your dogs with you everywhere you go. Our life revolves around our dogs and what’s best for them.

Before we started Who’s Your Doggie, we never left our dogs anywhere but at Grandma’s house because boarding them was not an option. Small crates and impersonal staff weren’t going to make our dogs feel loved or like they were in a home away from home.

We knew that we needed to open a place that could serve as a home away from home for dog owners who travel or who work during the day — or even who are just busy for a few hours. A place where you can rest assured that your dog is not just okay while you’re away, but a place where you know your dog is having fun and is in good hands.

Now, we have that place. Our dogs stay at Who’s Your Doggie not only when we go away, but they’re here playing with the other dogs every day. We understand that regardless of where you leave your dog, they’re going to

Melissa M.

Business Owner

Formerly a NYC investigator with a BA in Criminal Justice, Melissa changed career paths and is now enrolled in a Master’s program for a degree in Animal Behavior Science. Melissa BA, CPDT-​KA is a certified obedience trainer through the Certificatio Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Certified in pet first aid, certified through the AKC as a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, and has been training and sitting dogs in her home for over 10 years. Melissa’s training methods are designed to match the temperament of each dog. With her love for all animals big and small, she is truly an animal lover.

You know how they say «you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone» well, we didn’t know what a bad experience we were having at WYD until we left.
At first it was great, our dog was very excited to go to daycare and always came home tired. We were told it was normal for him to come home smelly, and that he should not wear good collars as they could be damaged by other dogs. As time went on, i think they had some staff changes, and quality of everything went downhill. Smokey was no longer was excited to pull in the parking lot, and he would come home more rambunctious than before he left.
The nail in the coffin was a day i came to pick him up from daycare and there seemed to be no one there but one man i had never seen before. I could hear my dog crying very loudly from the reception area– the man said «thank goodness you are here! he’s been crying like that for 45 minutes!!!» then he went to a side room (not the playroom they show you on the tours) and freed my dog from a crate. I was disgusted. As soon as we walked out the door he went to the bathroom (who knows how long the poor guy had been holding it)
We send him to daycare to play, not to be locked in a crate for long periods of time.
Once we switched to a newer daycare in town, we realized what an awful experience we had had at Who’s your Doggie from November 2013– Feb 2015. I would recommend exploring your options before choosing where to leave your four legged family member.

We’re very happy with these guys on two fronts. They have great dog checker inners — if we’re away for a long weekend. AND they do great grooming too. Roxy is a happy doggie when we go there… and it we are lucky to have them here in the neighborhood. Great group.

Came in for a tour unannounced and they had an opening and fit me in on the spot! (Was very happy) then boarded my yorkie for 3 and a half weeks… My dog came back fresh and happy and TIRED! I was so pleased! I don’t know when Jane S. Boarded because she clearly was not at Whos Your doggie perhaps mistaken for another in the area. All I’m gonna say is Who’s your doggie is the cleanest and kindest in the area! Richie and Kevin the owner even helped me out to my car in the cold! Definitely deserving of 5 stars! Won’t go anywhere else and neither should you!

I’ve boarded there 3 times. And I got what I paid for. I’ve worked with animals for years and completely understand a few mishaps but the last visit was irresponsible on the part of the staff.
First experience, my coonhound came home with the start of a massive skin infection along her back. The second time, I asked them to be mindful of her sensitive and she had the same reaction. When I called, they assured me they did use sensitive shampoo. So I figured she must have been allergic to something in the facility.
After she passed. We tried them again– even after the rumor that they lost a dog from their facility (which was confirmed by the owner «he was small»).
I measured out the exact food for the stay and instructed WYD to add water. My dogs came home with over 2⁄3 the food I sent them with. The kid at the front desk said «sometimes they don’t eat.» I understand that, but there’s no way a 5 month old puppy didn’t eat and he would have eaten his sisters food.
The woman owner called and said «they were definitely fed.» Well then tell me WHAT FOOD they ate?!? Because it certainly wasn’t the food I sent them with. She somewhat apologized but offered nothing to keep me as a client. Poor business attitude.
A side note– they claimed I picked up the dogs early, even though it was exactly the date I told them on the phone AND at check in. They both reeked of urine, I didn’t even want to put them in my car. But the whole place smells soaked in pee so I guess it’s my fault for not requesting a bath (for fear of more skin infections.)

Took care of my Weimeraner for years. Very loving staff, handled his medications and food all the time, and put up with my endless checking in. Even did some home visits for me in a pinch when I got stuck at work late.

My dog won’t be going back. She had a couple of overnights and a couple of single days there. The first couple of times seemed fine. Then one day we came to pick her up and it took forever. They finally said they hadn’t even able to find her (!!!) but then found her behind a sofa. If the dogs were properly supervised, it would be impossible to «lose» one. The last time I picked her up, they brought her out dripping wet and smelling — it was like she’d just waded through a pool of urine. The lady took her back and «cleaned her up» (though she still smelled). Again, if the dogs were properly supervised, how could that happen? (BTW, my profile shows me as living in NJ, but I moved to CT. Still haven’t found a good dog daycare…)

Brought my newly adopted hound here for his first day of doggie daycare last week. He’s very social and energetic, especially around his fellow pooches. He seemed to have a full day of fun, staff reporting that he played/​barked/​ran around all day. They have a webcam in each of the two daycare rooms, which were recently adjusted, so you can see the majority of each of the two rooms where the dogs spend their day.
He did his first «overnight weekend» here this past weekend and the same scenario occurred… totally exhausted after arriving home. I was worried about him not sleeping or eating, but staff seem to have a good handle on each of the dogs and how they were (behaviors, sleeping, eating habits).
I purchased a daycare package of 15 days, so I plan to bring him once a week or as needed. They don’t need to know ahead of time if you’re bringing your dog in, so it’s helpful for me if I decide last minute to bring my dog in that day. Once in a while, they offer a couple of free days if you purchase a daycare package, so check their FB page for announcements.
Another bonus is that they have pickups until 8pm during the week, so I am able to work late or have plans after work and pick him up on my way home. They have a groomer on site and even have staff who sleep at the facility overnight (in a regular human sized bed with your dog, if you want) which is really what sold me on this place.

We have been taking our two dogs (husky and Aussie shepherd/​lab mix) to WYD since they opened. Use them twice a week for daycare and they are awesome. Screen the dogs well, watch them closely and keeps them safe. My pups are so tired when we pick them up and the price is great. The dogs LOVE going there!!! We use them for boarding whenever we go away, pups are so well cared for. We have used Melissa for training and she is fabulous and so intuitive. Cannot say enough good things. The groomer is also fantastic and super convenient to get them groomed when already there for daycare!

I love Love LOVE WYD! I have an older spoiled dog and will not leave him with anyone else. One time I boarded him while I was on vacation and he wasn’t eating very well so the staff HAND FED him! They are always loving and caring with my dog and always pamper him I feel so safe and secure leaving him at WYD with him being older and having special needs.

We just moved to the area and started bringing our dog Rocky there. I think it is a little expensive compared to others in area but it is def the cleanest ! Rock is obsessed with it there. All you have to say is word daycare and he is waiting at the door

We use Who’s Your Doggie? for overnight care when we’re vacationing, and we love them! Our pup gets lots of playtime with the other dogs, and she always comes home happy and tired. The live video feed during normal daycare hours is great; on our last trip, I was able to check that from time to time to catch our girl running around and having a blast. I highly recommend them.

This place is your average daycare for dogs. They do a great job and my dog is always tired when I go to pick him up at night. The only things I’d look out for are:
they leave some dogs out front and numerous times the girls working will just let my dog out of the back without restraining or supervising the dogs in front. My dog has been close to getting bitten a few times because of this.
Most of the workers are amazing and very conscious of the importance of keeping some dogs separate from others, but they do have a couple employees (younger ones) who don’t adhere to this. One kept her headphones in her ears the entire time I was explaining I didn’t want my dog let in with the bigger dogs (aggressive dogs at that) still up front on the loose. Needless to say, she completely ignored me and let in my dog without restraining the bigger dogs.
Also, sometimes it takes about ten to fifteen minutes for someone to open up the doors in the morning. They open at 7, which is early compared to most dog day cares, but then you need to wait outside until the employee actually comes to the door. This does not happen often, but it does happen sometimes.
