History

Established in 2010.

Family owned. We renovated an old gas station to build a cozy, enjoyable café atmosphere. Our team prides ourselves on customer service, communication, quality, consistency, and cleanliness. This business is a member of M.A.M.A. which is the back bone for local small businesses in our area. Grinders Steep donates every year to the local schools, and various other programs. We are proud to be apart of such a wonderful community.

Good place, and surprisingly good coffee, and nice gal working there. Limited funky seating and now a $ 2 charge for internet takes off a star, but if you need that java this is your joint in town.
I also like the life center natural food shop but they don’t have espresso.
and not sure if they still exist (after the fire)

I always stop here on my way to to work…(I’m a professional babysitter) …The coffee is great… but more so I like to start my day off on a positive note… and I know that by the time I get here these guys have had to deal with a whole lot of grumpy and probably even some downright mean people… and there is always a please, thank you and smiles all around and it sends me off to face the world feelin great! Thanks guys… you are the best!

Best coffee in the county, hands down, no runner up. Always super nice and cheerful staff, and in my opinion, a pillar of the community. The girls know my coffee order before I even give it, showing how much they care about customers. A small old gas station converted to a coffee shop, one may not hold high hopes for the place, but the owner jake (who isn’t from State Farm and doesn’t wear khakis) has done an amazing job on the place. Always the best atmosphere, even when packed with people!

This place is a local treasure… It has some of the best coffee in the county. They have a Mexican coffee that is my new favorite drink ever. Support local business and go get a good cup of coffee.

This place is my go to for that early morning java nectar! Pros: I can pull right in with my car still headed in my direction of travel, jump out, shoot the bull with the owner – who is Hilarious! AND get a great cup of coffee made to my liking. The staff really go out of their way to make sure you are happy! They have a great selection of coffee, good quick-​eats, pastries and croissants! There is seating inside and outside which is PERRRFECT on those warm mornings! Great overall vibe here, I have never been disappointed! Cons: Can’t think of any!

I have to say the owner has great service and is very nice, friendly and knows how to make some great coffee.
I have enjoyed coming here from time to time and usually order «cold brew» Ice Coffee. It’s my favorite, I have them add some ½ & ½ and vanilla flavoring too.
The atmosphere is very chill and the facilities tidy and clean.
I could easily do some work here on my laptop or have a coffee date with a friend.

Best coffee in Middletown and yummy goodies. I have been coming here for the last two years and I’m always a happy customer. Never once have I had a bad coffee or service. This is truly the best coffee I believe in Middletown

The girl working there was super friendly but then charged me $ 3.50 for an Arrowhead bottled water (cheapcheap level bottled water which is usually $ 1, if that, at gas stations – i.e. charged me stadium price). The receipt said «$ 0.00» so I’m guessing maybe she was consciously scamming me? Appalled, warning people, and definitely not going back despite passing through the area often.

This is a great progressive chill-​out place. Jake, one of the owners, and his wife, Stephanie, are very nice people. Furthermore, they have the best tasting organic coffee in Middletown by far, not to mention other drinks, and an assortment of snacks. They seem to be extremely careful about who they hire to work there and are extremely meticulous about properly training them — in my opinion, very intelligent business practices. Hence, the staff who work here are always all very nice and helpful. This is a very friendly local hangout for both locals and visitors alike where one can have good conversation and meet some interesting folk and also surf the Internet or check one’s email.

Stopped here after playing at Twin Pine casino just a minute or two down the road. The important thing to note is that it is nicer on the inside than the outside. My wife is a big latte fan and she gives this five stars. She also bought a pound of their Guatemalan beans whic she’s already ground twice since coming home and she’s already declared the beans the best value she’s found in the past few years. I liked the fact that parking is easy outside and they let you sit and use wifi.

I LOVE this funky li’l place. I found them by accident one day on the way up to Harbin Hot Springs and discovered that they make the world’s BEST matcha green tea latte with almond milk, better than anything I can find in the fancy Bay Area. I love to hang out here with my computer and write and drink them. And the owners are super sweet and cool too.

The only wifi café in town… Note you dont need to spend guilt money to use the wifi as they charge a flat fee of $ 2.00 and the connection is great indoor and outdoor seating, in a old gas station building.

I love Grinders Steep because I always stop in when I’m getting out of town for the weekend or taking a road-​trip up north. The coffee is good, the service is friendly and the bathroom is clean. What more does one need?
