Courtyard Newport Middletown

In town on business and stayed here due to points. Not overly impressed with hotel. After a long day of traveling, decided to stay in and have dinner and I was not impressed. Placed order for dinner at hotel bar/​restaurant. Placed order for alcoholic beverage and cashier did not realize they did not have any in stock. A bit of advice is to know your stock. I was told they offered free breakfast in the mornings, but I ordered coffee and fruit and I was charged. Not sure what was free considering everything on the menu had a price next to it. Very disappointed
Housekeeping was okay. I prefer not to have my room cleaned daily and keep the do not disturb sign on the door, but housekeeping provides a bag of towels and toiletries in a bag on the door daily. Had to let me know that is was not necessary, I bring my own. I was collecting bags in my room.

Nice, clean, and spacious rooms. The staff is very polite and attentive. The bistro food was not the greatest (skip it if you can), especially with all the nearby selections. My only complaint is that we had a noisy toilet and that you had to hold the handle down while you flushed, but to me those are quite minor complaints (1^st world problems).

The hotel was virtually empty, and we arrived at night. The check in was quick and we were pleased with the room. No surprises, we were living out of a suitcase for two weeks, and most of it was spent at a Courtyard. The room was clean, the bed was soft but more firm than the other locations in Massachusetts. You get the usual amenities, a refrigerator, and a nice patio area. It was very quiet.
Naturally after traveling so much, we were pretty sore and weary. We dressed in our bathing suits and we moseyed on down to the pool. It is an indoor pool right off of the coffee (Starbucks? I believe) bar, and the front desk area. The pool is partially outdoor and indoor but the water was warm as long as you don’t get too close to the divided area. It is heated and felt amazing, there was no one else there. After awhile in the pool, we went over to the heated spa and basked in its hot goodness for 20 minutes, got out and repeated the same thing twice with the pool. Try it, trust me it will ease a lot of the jet lag and burdens from traveling you are carrying. There were plenty of clean white towels and places to sit and relax. The rest of the stay was nice and the check out was no problem. Would stay again when I am in the area.

Had a great stay at this hotel last weekend. Check in was really easy, the room was crazy affordable and clean! We also loved the pool and hot tub but are taking away a star since it wasn’t open the morning we were leaving. Free parking, not too far from Newport, really this hotel was so worth the price!

Clean and comfortable room. Starbucks and small convenience store (snacks) on site. The lobby is nice. Was concerned when I pulled in… No curb appeal. Looks rough from the parking lot.
Nice staff and clean comfortable rooms. Not fancy or high end, but not bad.
Not located in a good vacation location, but if you are in town for work at NUWC it’s very convenient.

Stayed here Valentines Day weekend to attend Wineterfest in Newport. We called the hotel on our drive down to see if we could check in early and they were super accommodating. Check in was a breeze and we got into our room quickly. Standard king room facing the courtyard, overlooking the outdoor pool. We had a tiny balcony which would’ve been great to use if it hadn’t been –20 all weekend. Friends of ours who also stayed here had a room with 2 queen beds but no balcony as their room faced the parking lot. Overall no complaints. Starbucks downstairs was good, expensive of course, but good. We’d stay here again for sure.

I loved the room the bed was amazing got fresh towels without me ever asking pool was nice the bar was great hats off to the bartender breakfast was a lil on the pricey side but good food staff was amazing they go above and beyond for your needs I definitely recommend this hotel to everyone

When i was looking for a place to stay in newport i was hoping for quaint and on the water. But i booked too late so everything was booked or VERY expensive ($ 500 per night). Just seven minutes from downtown newport is the courtyard marriot in middletown. It wasnt what i was looking for but it had everything we needed. It is modern and has two pools and gym. There is a bar and breakfast place in the lobby. We got a king room on the first floor by the pool with sliders outside to small patio. The room was decent sized and very clean and fresh smelling. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was good. We put the do not disturb on the door for the whole wknd but housekeeping kindly left a fresh bag of towels and toiletries outside our door so we never had to ask.
My husband left the car lights on so we needed a jump and the woman behind the desk was so nice and got her car and jumped ours for us.
We tried the bar and had a couple of cocktails and they were great! We ate breakfast from there one morning and it wasnt bad but quite pricey.
Overall this is a great hotel if u dont mind not being in the heart of newport. It was considerably cheaper and still had all the amenities and service you expect.

Hotel was extremely dirty and outdated. Lobby was nice but hotel rooms were old and grungy. Hottub was luke warm. I found pubic hair on the pullout couch. And last but not least… I found a cockroach in my bed as I was sleeping! I complained to the front desk and they gave me a refund for my room but they did nothing else to help me find a different hotel (it was 11:00 at night). I will never stay here again and I don’t suggest it to anyone!

Very disappointed with this hotel. We made a reservation over 2 weeks early for a room with a king size bed and a pullout sofa for a 3^rd member of our party. The room was $ 359/​night. We arrived and were told that they overbooked and we could have a room with 2 queen size beds for the same price. When we got to the room, it was 2 double beds, not queen size. Went back to the desk and they changed it to a room with 2 queens. Housekeeping was poor. Tissues and a hair pin on the floor near the bed and pubic hair near the toilet. We had brought bottled water and found that there was no refrigerator in the room. We were told by the front desk that there is no refrig because they cater to business travelers, not families. very poor excuse. We got up the next morning to find no continental breakfast, not even coffee. We could make coffee in our room with powdered creamora if we wanted or buy breakfast at their restaurant. The faucet in the tub had a continuous drip the whole time we were there. A very sub par hotel and not worth anywhere near what they charge.

LOCATION: Close to restaurants and shops. Quiet neighborhood. Very quiet.
PARKING: Lots of parking for everyone!
PRICE: Very good price. I paid around $ 95 for a Saturday night stay.
ROOM: Very clean. Everything looked so brand new. We were on the 2^nd floor and I loved the slide-​out doors to the mini balcony. But I don’t think all the rooms come with the mini-​balcony. I just had one problem with the sound coming from the next room. I think the walls are pretty thin. Also, the door had a gap on the bottom. I’m sure people could hear what was going on in the room from the hallway.
PROS: Very clean brand-​new rooms. Lobby is brand-​new too. Free Wi-​Fi, plenty of parking lot and very cheap to book!
CONS: No free breakfast. Thin walls.

Very nice rooms, looked recently updated, very comfy bed (were used to our temperpedic and this was still pretty nice). Small balcony that overlooked the courtyard and pool. Small fitness room and cool indoor/​outdoor heated pool and hot tub. My only small complaint is that it seems as though most of the other hotels nearby served a complimentary breakfast, this has a small café where you can get a $ 9+ egg sandwich. Wasn’t really that much less than a stay at a b&b in town, but we wanted the pool and hot tub option and didn’t want to do the two night minimum.

I spent 60+ nights at Marriott properties last year and know the brand well.
My major gripe with this place was the bed and bedding: not very comfortable. I stay at full service Marriott’s and am very fond of their brand of bed and bedding. While this Courtyard has been refreshed with new wallpaper, lighting, art, etc it appears that the beds are strictly 20^th century.
The people were friendly.
Convenient location.
Adequate parking.

Spent a night here with my lacrosse team for playoffs at URI. The hotel is completely remodeled with a beautiful lobby/​lounge area and a convenient little dining place (The Bistro) for quick meals. Closer to the front desk is small «mini-​mart» which has snacks ranging from chips, ice cream, and even wine for those who want to stay classy. COOL!
The hotel rooms are a good size, and if you’re on the first floor, there’s a door to the courtyard that leads to the pool, which is really nice. There is also another pool and a hot tub indoors. Major plus.
The staff is very friendly, especially the people at the front desk. One of the ladies let us do a wheelbarrow race in front of the desk, and she thoroughly enjoyed being the judge of who won.
The only downside is that the walls are a little thin, and you can hear people talking in the hallways at night. But given the fact that there were multiple sports teams staying at the hotel as well, it was bound to be loud.
Overall, I greatly enjoyed my stay here. Though there’s not really much to do in Newport, the Courtyard Newport Middletown is an awesome place to relax and wind down.

The staff of the Courtyard Newport Middletown were very friendly. As my group and I were only going to be in town for one night we wanted to make the most of it. Their suggestions certainly ensured that we made the most out of our one-​night Newport nightlife experience.
The hotel is a beautiful newly renovated interior Courtyard Marriott with a large interactive display in the lobby with great local information displayed all day. In addition to the knowledgable staff, there are plenty of local publications in the lobby. The main lobby also has a bar, which has a Starbucks! The indoor pool is also a huge plus!

Hotel was clean and the staff was courteous. The rate was reasonable and the proximity to downtown Newport is a plus. There is no view but they have a pool and a small workout facility. I didn’t try the food but they have Starbucks coffee for sale in the morning. Overall a decent place to stay and much cheaper than options in Newport. Free WiFi is plus

For those of you who prefer to not break the bank on a hotel, inn, or B&B in downtown Newport, this is an excellent option. The hotel is approximately 10 minutes away from downtown Newport and public parking. We were able to drive, park for the day, and explore all of Newport, and drive back with minimal traffic.
As for the hotel, this place is a little diamond in the rough. I have a feeling with the Navy Base nearby, they cater to off duty military and visiting military. The bar and lounge are top notch, however, the food is not great. Not to worry, if you’re in Newport, you should be eating on the wharf anyway! The hotel is close to all convenience stores and grocery stores. The room was outstanding. King bed and a couch along with a flatscreen TV. The value is awesome! Most of all this hotel was CLEAN and modern! Will return to this hotel if in the Newport area again!

Newly remodeled and very chic, the lobby and rooms are beautiful and cozy. My room was one of the nicest I’ve ever stayed in at this price point — small but very comfortable with beautiful décor, a balcony, well-​placed outlets on all the lights, nice furniture and flatscreen tv. The pool and hot tub were great after a long day of work.
The bistro is a new addition to the Courtyard hotels, and it sure looks beautiful, but the service and food don’t live up to the hype. Every time I visited the bistro, they were understaffed and the person taking orders seemed annoyed or inconvenienced. Food orders take a looong time when there are more than a few guests waiting. There is supposedly table service in the evenings, but I sat for a half an hour one night before anyone came to take my order. The food is so-​so, and though they claim to serve Starbucks coffee, the one time I ordered a latte it was nearly all milk. I did like that I could get a decent breakfast (egg/​bagon/​spinach english muffin sandwich) to go in the mornings.
Other gripes: I needed to do laundry but the washer was out of service; the outlet by the bed was too loose to hold my charger. There is free wireless in the lobby but only ethernet in the rooms.
The location is 15 mins from downtown Newport but there are some very good restaurants nearby (try Anderson’s seafood!) and every type of retail chain you could want.

I’ve been staying at the Courtyard in Middletown for the week. The hotel is ideally located if you’re doing something related to the Naval Station as it’s a stone throw from Gate 17. (Although if you need a pass you’ll have to drive back down to Gate 1)
However if you’re looking to stay here and spend time in Newport you’ll need to drive down into town.
Pros: The hotel is newer and very clean. The fitness center is primarily cardio but has a few free weights. The indoor/​outdoor pool is nice if you’re looking for that. The staff has been very friendly.
Cons: There is a bistro/​bar in the lobby which is nice but they don’t have a complimentary breakfast. The wifi has been spotty (hard line is fine). Also for some reason my sink is piped backward (blue is hot, red is cold).
I’ll definitely be staying here for my trips to Newport and I’d recommend the Courtyard over the Newport Marriott in a heartbeat.

I had to stay here for over a month while on business travel. There is nothing special about where the hotel is located. It doesn’t have a view or anything like that. The prices were significantly cheaper than staying in Newport. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were very clean and the hotel looked well maintained inside and out.
I would definitely stay here again
