Description

Specialties

MDX’s commitment to Miami-Dade County extends far beyond the construction and maintenance of our expressways. MDX is committed to providing equal opportunity for all businesses to participate in our procurement and contracting process by implementing checks and balances to ensure an open, transparent and competitive procurement environment, while promoting the local economy. In fact, MDX awards over 40% of contracts through its Five-Year Work Program to small and local businesses, creating over 10,000 new jobs in the process.

MDX Cash Back Toll Dividend Program is MDX’s free customer loyalty program. MDX has evolved the Advantage program into a new one that is more beneficial to you. The new program is called the MDX Cash Back Toll Dividend. If you were previously enrolled in the MDX Advantage Program, you are automatically enrolled in the new Cash Back Toll Dividend Program. The way the new program works is simple. Each Fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) after the close of its financial books, MDX will declare a toll distribution of dividends to members of the new dividend program. This is after the agency meets its financial obligations, including making its annual principal and interest payments, meeting its senior debt coverage ratio, and covering its operation and maintenance costs. MDX will return the toll revenues directly to its customers through the Cash Back Toll Dividend Program. The next open enrollment period will occur in 2016.

History

Established in 1994.

The Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) was created by the State of Florida and the Board of County Commissioners of Miami-Dade County to serve as an innovative transportation agency dedicated to the enhancement of mobility in Miami-Dade County.

MDX is funded entirely by toll revenue. We receive no state or federal funds; no sales tax, gas tax, property tax or half-penny sales tax. Tolls collected are reinvested for the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of five of the most critical roadways in Miami-Dade County:

State Road 112/Airport Expressway

State Road 836/Dolphin Expressway

State Road 874/Don Shula Expressway

State Road 878/Snapper Creek Expressway

State Road 924/Gratigny Parkway
