Da Tang Unique

The food here is so bad here I wouldn’t even feed it to a stray dog. I honestly think my table just dropped $ 200+ for Panda Express, rancid fish soup, and Del Monte fruit served in a martini glass. It’s a shame considering they did a great job with the décor, and it’s in a great area in Brickell. Looking around at reactions from the other tables, it seems my opinion is shared by many others tonight. What a complete waste. I feel dirty now.

Great food and amazing ambiance! Excellent service that we got. Prices are on the high side thus less the one star but the food was bursting with flavors though. Highly recommend their crispy pork buns, da tang fried rice, crispy noodles and the braised short ribs. Will surely come back. Check in with Unilocal to get a freebie.

I don’t understand how this place has more than two stars. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside but upon walking in, you’ll know you shouldn’t eat there because it’s basically empty! I am giving the place 2 stars only because of the check in offer of a free drink which was pretty good (and strong enough to get a good buzz) and we were given a mini carafe of it.
The staff is friendly and very very attentive (because they’re bored due to having no customers) so that was nice as well. The food is really not worth the price. I ordered the fried rice, you’d wonder how a nice restaurant could mess that up. The food was bland and dry. Sadly, you would actually be better off going to Panda Express. I am not hard to please but this was a let down.

I ate here with my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. They had a prix fixe menu with large portions and fair pricing so I can’t really speak to the value of the regular menu, though it looked expensive.
Overall, the food was very good and beyond expectations. We had Peking duck, some Hong Kong pork dish, scallops, spicy beef, fried noodles (a little too salty) and tiramisu for dessert. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Our server was great and attentive, but not intrusive.
I’d highly recommend checking it out as there are few decent Chinese restaurants in Miami. I’ll definitely be back here in the future.

Having lived in China for a few years, I’ve certainly missed having authentic Chinese food readily available. Da Tang is a true rarity in Miami. The chef and management are all Chinese, so the preparation is akin to what you would find in Beijing. The duck, vegetables, and beef dishes are great, but I wish they had more spicy Sichuan and Hunan specialties. Environment is significantly nicer than your average Chinese restaurant, but not quite as upscale as Hakkasan. However, you can definitely bring a date as they sometimes have performances.
Definitely give it a try. I’ll be going back as its a nice break from all the pseudo Asian upscale restaurants in Miami.

The look of the place is good. That’s all the good Honestly. The food is not. It’s not even as good as a local malls Panda Express, I sincerely wish it was … This is my first ever Unilocal review. I’m not a food snob at all I promise. This is also my first ever review based on food. What got to me was the outrageous prices for the very low quality of food. Save your money and order some local Chinese takeout and
Save a fortune. Very disappointed. Ps I would rate negative stars if I could.

The restaurant looks pretty. You can see that they’ve put a lot of time and money into it. The menu selection was very different… I couldn’t tell how authentic it was from the dishes… But I wanted to give it a try. The pricing is expensive for what you get, definitely.
The service needs some work. I had asked for silver wear and the server had her fingers all over the part where I eat. Not very sanitary. The food was ok. I had to request rice which is weird but ok. They showed me my spare rib in a cute little plate setting and then took it away. They had cut it without me seeing it and took away all the bones and sauce… I’m asian… And growing up in a Asian household you never throw away the bone. It’s the best part! It tasted alright. I also got the curry dish. That was good and I have no complaints about it.
My friend is a vegetarian and they didn’t have many options for her. Fine. So she ordered the plate of mushrooms… It came out… There were three tiny little mushroom caps. She was starving after eating it. Haha so if you’re a vegetarian I don’t recommend this place.
I don’t know if I’ll come back but it’s a cute place.

It’s rare to find good Chinese food in Miami and Da Tang Unique has great and authentic Chinese food. We had the fried rice, vegetables and tofu, pepper beef noodles and Peking duck– all of which were excellent. We ate as a party of 5 and the portions were fair and we left satisfied if not stuffed. This is the best Chinese food in Miami although it is pricier than many other options.
Only thing to note– the restaurant was very quiet when we ate there. Service was great just was a large space and not very filled.

This is it, the most authentic, but at the same time, neither in a sketchy neighborhood nor with greasy tables or rude waitresses, Chinese high-​end restaurant. Although the restaurant is located in an older building in Brickell, the interior decoration is upscale, trendy and at the same time, very Chinese.
We came here on a Saturday night around 8pm. The restaurant is still in the «soft» opening phrase according to the manager, so there were only 3 groups of guests there. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we received very attentive service from the hostess, manager to our waitress. The dishes aren’t cheap, but pretty much in line with the other upscale labeled «chinese» restaurant Hakkasan, $ 20-​$ 30 dollars for appetizer, $ 35-​$ 100 plus for entrees. But the taste, is WAY better.
For the appetizer, we ordered the Beijing beef broad bean sauce, the meat is perfected marinated with the secret sauce. The beef was cut in very thin slices, and the fat and meat was in a perfect proportion, so it is very tender, not too dry or fatty.
For the main, we ordered Guizhou Fish Filet and Pork Belly in blueberry sauce:
The Guizhou fish (in chinese: 酸菜鱼) is a very popular dish in China, it is more of a soup, but not the western type that often presented before the main that usually leave you unfulfilled. This soup dish is in a main size for 2 or more people to share, and the fish and veggie are in a good size to keep you satisfying fulfilled. The dish was beautifully presented in a fish container, then the waitress helped fill the first bowl from the container. The dish was a bit sour and spicy, but in a perfect degree that keep you wanting more. It tasted exactly what I used to have in China, but since this is Miami, it made it taste better. The only downside is that the fish was a bit dry, I wish it could be more tender.
The Pork Belly with blueberry sauce is more of a modern Chinese dish that combines common traditional Chinese ingredient — pork belly, with common western blueberry sauce. But unlike Americanized Chinese food that sweetness overpowers everything, the dish maintains the main flavor of a chinese dish, and the blueberry sauce was just a sweet kick that was barely noticeable until at the end of the bite. The pork belly was so perfectly cooked, that the fat literally melted the moments it got in the mouth.
Overall, I give this place a 5 star for being the only authentic, upscale Chinese restaurant in town. 90/​100, a must try.

Really nice restaurants, beautiful and amazing Chinese culture decorations. Service was excellent and food are tasty. Really enjoy the restaurant environment and feel like back to ancient Tang Dynasty. Highly recommended for people who are willing see and learn some Chinese food and tradition.

Very authentic Chinese food in a very traditional setting. Da Tang fills a void in the Miami culinary scene!

I really vascillated between one star or two stars here, I ultimately decided on two because the food wasnt awful, and the service was very good. Food was extremely average, not «bad», just average. And the prices were astronomical and portions just comical!
It’s your barebones basic Chinese restaurant, but they want to be fancy, so they have weird menu combos like foie gras fried rice. Wtf? Myself and one other person with us don’t eat foie gras, so we just got the standard fried rice (just ok, completely unexceptional fried rice).
We were charged $ 89 for a shrivelled, skinny Australian lobster that one person could finish as an appetizer. $ 20 for stir-​fried greens that might serve 2 — 3 at best (we were a party of 6) and the most ridiculous was the «family size» serving of abalone that came out that was the size of a child’s palm (1 abalone) and 3 stalks of broccoli. Family size. $ 89.
We also had a mediocre and smallish serving of duck pancakes (80+ bucks) and when we asked for more cucumber and green onion stalks we were told no. Lol. Only one per dish sorry. Um… its a 80 dollar dish. We were really affronted by this, especially after our anorexic lobster and comical abalone… lol.
It’s also in the complex of a very midrange hotel, so I don’t know who they think is going to pay these prices. The lobster is more expensive than at Nobu. And when you pay these prices you get as many cucumber stalks and green onions as your greedy little heart desires.
The food is just very very average Chinese you can get anywhere for a lot less. To be charging anything close to premium prices, you’ve got to ROCK OUT your standard dishes at the very least. The food is just so unremarkable and the portions are way off and stingy. Like they think you’re a complete idiot with no clue and a money tree in your backyard (yeah, not me).

The food is outstanding and the service excellent. I highly recommend to try the Japanese wagyu, da tang fried rice, and dumpling.

I was at the art show of American Da Tang Unique last week. The restaurant looks totally different from the other Chinese restaurant I have ever been. Full of detailed culture element in the restaurant. The event food was delicious. But I am more looking forward to its formal lunch/​dinner menu and the special drinks.
