MBC is Miami’s première Art Cinema in the heart of South Beach, located in the south side ground floor of the Miami Beach Historic City Hall, a beautifully restored Spanish Mediterranean 1927 building by Carl Fischer. The cinematheque has an intimate screening room with state-of-the-art digital projection, a library, bookstore, and photographic arts gallery. MBC screens foreign films, documentaries, featured independents and local filmamkers, and partners with the diverse Miami based film festivals.
History
Established in 1993.
The Miami Beach Cinematheque is the home of the not-for-profit Miami Beach Film Society, dedicated to the presentation and promotion of film as an art-form. The organization was founded in 1993, opened the first Miami Beach Cinematheque on Espanola Way in 2003, and recently moved to the present restored and upgraded cinematheque space in Historic City Hall.
