Jefferson Financial Credit Union

Not an awful place to bank. They recently closed most locations on Saturdays, so I’m currently standing in line with 6 people in front of me with 1 teller. Stupid.

Well I had high hopes for this place but it turns out they are no better; and actually I’d say worse then their competitors. Horrible wait times on phone and just stupid business practices. The are constantly changing things and don’t even try to create a online account to be able to log in to see what’s happening with your money, it will take you weeks and that’s if you can get someone off their rear to help you. Bad bad bad all around… I have a car loan with them and it’s an act of congress to get them to defer a payment for me. Closed all other accounts with them due to their employees being totally inept. Rude collection department and questionable ethics.

So far, so good.
I walked into JFCU at about 4:15, knowing the lobby closes at 4:30pm on weekdays. However, I wanted to open an account and ditch the chain that I’ve been using for the past several years. We have a good relationship with Jefferson Financial at work, so after some online research, it seemed like the logical choice.
Apparently, if you need to speak with a loan officer or an account manager, you are supposed to sign in on a sheet of paper. There really isn’t any visable signage explaining this procedure, nor pointing out the sign-​in sheets. I waited in line to ask a teller where I needed to go. The lady in front of me was also confused, as she got directed to the sign in area as well.
By this time, it was about 4:25 and I pretty much expected them to tell me to come back tomorrow. However, they called me into the office and quickly got everything set up. All they needed was my driver’s license (as proof of identity and residency in J.P.) and my SSN. The Visa debit card with an adorable kitty on it was issued instantly too — much better than the 1 – 2 weeks it took my old bank to get a new card!
I figure it will take about a month to get everything switched over to my new account, but so far, a great experience with this bank.
