The Oak Store – Wood Furniture

Customer service at The Oak Store is non-​existent. We ordered a bedroom set including king bed, tall dresser, two matching nightstands; a large oak desk with return; tall kitchen table with six matching chairs; two living room end tables and a tv stand for a 60″ television on June 27, 2015. We put ¹⁄₃ down as requested. The furniture was delivered on August 18, 2015, and we paid off the remaining ²⁄₃ balance upon delivery. We received everything that day with the exception of one bedroom nightstand that was backordered.
This is not cheap furniture so we know it takes time for a backorder, however, each time we called the store we were given a curt and surly answer as to the status of our backordered nightstand. The first time I called which was in early September, a female employee said, «I have no idea when your order will come.» I told her that we’d paid for the nightstand and we’d like to know what the status was. She than said, «Well, what do you want ME to do about it?»
I told her that I wanted her to make a call to the company and find out what the delay was. She said the company does not respond to calls from their store. Since then, either myself or my husband have called the same female employee regularly to get an update. I suggested that she call other stores who might carry the night stand and have one shipped to their store. She said they don’t do that sort of thing. She did offer today, October 16^th, to give us our money back for the nightstand, however, we have already invested a substantial amount of money in a matching bedroom set that I now only have one nightstand for. My husband asked if she had contacted the company like she said she would. «Yes, a week and a half ago. I haven’t heard a thing.»
My husband asked for the store information for the backordered nightstand today and she gave him the website for the company. He went to the site, found the contact information and shot off an email. He received an answer back within two hours saying it was in customs here in the USA but there was a holdup and they would keep us in the loop. If we could get a response from them within two hours, it seems odd that The Oak Store was unable to get a response in a week and a half.
We are beyond frustrated with The Oak Store. I would have asked to speak to the manager, however, the aforementioned female employee said it was a family owned business and she’s part of the family!
