Pep Boys

Last Sunday, I went in to Pep Boys to arrange for her tires and wheels to be put-​on.
The GM, Debbie, was rude and condescending to me, and the same treatment was given her employee. She is a know it all, and was sighing in disgust as though the employee and I were bothering her in asking for her assistance/​direction. She acted as though my very presence was an inconvenience to her because she was just «so busy». NOT.
She was not busy, just had a very bad attitude. I left there feeling sorry for the employee and disgusted that someone like this continues to be left in authority. FYI She gave, no, she insisted that she was right, and proceeded to instruct the employee incorrectly–
My tires did NOT contain the type of valves that have to be removed. I am the original owner of the car and it did not come with electronic sensors. This person has no business dealing with the customer, nor should she be training anyone.
I will take my business elsewhere and tell everyone else I know to do the same, until I see a new manager running things at 7715 E Main St. Mesa, AZ 85 207

Everytime I come here they change story. They say everything is fine the next day it still doesn’t work properly. Then it something else that magical show up. It seems that they want more money for me. It is ridiculous.

I purchased a used car that didn’t have a locking gas cap. I bought a cheap one for $ 14 online and after three uses it jammed and I couldn’t get it loose. A gentleman at the gas station tried to help and he couldn’t get it open either.
I was down to a quarter tank of gas and getting worried when I remembered that Pep Boys carries parts and also does service. I drove to my nearest Pep Boys and was helped immediately. Stella found the proper locking gas cap for me and Joseph removed the old one. I left with only a $ 16 charge for the part and no charge for the labor.

I met one of your employees while I was waiting for a table at a restaurant last week. She overheard me telling my friend how I was having a hard time finding a place I could trust to take my vehicle to for new tires. I am recently divorced and this was always something my husband took care of. She introduced herself and explained that she knew how I felt. She made me feel at ease and that I could trust her to take care of my vehicle. I got my new tires a few days later and she was there to personally help me that day. She has a customer for life now. Thank you so much Stella Johnson! I truly appreciate your help and understanding.

I bought 4 new tires about 6 months ago. We paid extra for the tire warranty for no charge fixes/​replacements (they charge $ 20 to fix a flat, crazy!). Had a flat so we went in at about 7 pm on a Monday evening. No other customers. We waited 1.5 hours for them to fix one flat!
It took the tech half an hour just to get to our truck into the bay, then another 45 minutes to fix a simple flat. He was incredibly slow. The clerk then sold us 2 wiper blades for $ 15 each w install, way over priced but we needed them. When we went to check out, she tried to charge me for the tire repair too, even though she said it was covered when they took the truck in. She adjusted the price after I complained.
I regret having bought the tires from Pep Boys to begin with. The set of 4 tires were over $ 850. Their service is horrible. The employees all seem to be in slow mode, very un-​enthused. They have employee targeted signs all over the bays to pressure them into meeting sales goals, despite the fact they have no ability to answer any questions specific to their products.
Go somewhere else where else you can be treated like a real customer.

Stopped in today as I had three other failed attempts around town. Just needed a simple map light. As soon as I walked in Kaleb greeted me & asked what I needed. I gave him the part# per my owners manual, after he looked for the light, he asked about the vehicle so he could look up the #. He offered me a bulb that was clearly too small. So he asked if we could go out to the vehicle. He managed to take the whole map light out of the roof (easiest as it’s such a tiny space) he brought it inside and found the correct bulb, THEN put the map light back in the roof! I was still in/​out of Pep Boys in 20 minutes!!! THANK YOU, Kaleb, and Pep Boys!!! I appreciate all the effort and certainly all the work of replacing the bulb! *As I would have never thought to pull the thing out of the roof and with such a tiny space I could see a long frustrating process in my weekend. THANK YOU!!!

I came in for oil change. I have an appointment at 11am. Service guys informed me it’ll take like an hour to do it. So, I’m fine with it.
It has been 1 hour and 30 min and my car is still not done and still in the garage.
If I knew this will take this long, then I should’ve cancelled or went on a different day. I’m kinda frustrated and hungry at this point. Oil change doesn’t take this friggin long. Sorry not a happy customer.

They are crminal con artists, if it a simple problem, they wont tell you,.they will tell you they have to check this and that and charging you all the way, dont go here, they will screw you without the KY

My car was giving my issues on a Sunday, and Pep Boys was about the only place that was open.
The sales people were very helpful and efficient, and my car was fixed very rapidly. I had the battery replaced, the oil changed and new wipers put on the car. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Had a pair of 18″ tires from TireRack mounted and balanced for $ 35.40 — better than Discount Tire’s $ 50 price. After a short discussion, they even hand tightened the lug nuts, aka no air wrench tightening (to reduce/​prevent warping of the brake rotors).
They were nice, helpful, relatively quick and did well with this task, as well as with other questions/​issues that I had.
I would come here again. And recommend to my friends/​family.

They did a great job taking care of my car and what I needed. Even went above and beyond to find me an antenna at the dealership.

Pep boys is great both in price and service. I bought tires from them about 6 months ago and my left rear tire seemed to go flat over a 3 day period. Set an appt and they found two nails in that tire and two other nails in two more tires. I didn’t buy road hazard insurance on them but they fix if they can free of charge. I had them do an o change while I was there and it is normally $ 100 per change due to 8 qts of oil and synthetic for a Mercedes. The manager said she found some for less and reduced the cost to $ 65 for me. Also rotated the tires free of charge. They match prices apparently and then take an additional 5% off that according to a phone call I overheard. I’d definitely recommend giving them a try.

I always have pretty good experiences here. And I almost always take my car here for service, with the Pep Boys Rewards, it definitely makes it worth it. I’ve found the mechanics here to be honest about what service is needed, they don’t try to rake you over the coals and get you to do a bunch of unnecessary stuff. And there are usually good coupons online for whatever you need done that make the prices reasonable.
