As you enter Mountain View Cemetery you are immediately struck by the beauty of the fountain that has become a landmark in East Mesa. Mountain View Cemetery offers twelve spacious Memorial Gardens that include nineteen mausoleums, featuring our newest Wall of Peace with its waterfall and gated meditation alcove. Our newest garden is our LDS Garden dedicated to the Later-day Saints faith which allows upright memorials (markers). Other special gardens include Catholic, Christian and Masonic. The gardens include thousand of very affordable ground spaces that are covered year round with a rich green lawn and shaded by hundreds of Pine, Olive and Palm Trees. History

Established in 1951.

Mountain View Memorial Gardens was founded in 1951 by Albert M Coury Sr. In 1984 a Funeral Home was built and has Mountain View has been the only family owned Funeral Home and Cemetery Combination in the East Valley. Mr and Mrs. Coury Sr. owned and operated Mountain View until Mr. Coury’s death in 1998 and Mrs. Coury’s death in 2008. In March 2009 Mountain View was purchased by Albert Coury’s son Daniel L. Coury Sr. and renamed Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery. In 2010, Daniel’s son Gregory Coury joined the business and Mountain View is owned and operated by the second and third generation.

Meet the Manager

Steve L.

Manager

Steve came to Mountain View after a successful funeral service career in the Midwest. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science and has been a funeral director for more than 35 years. He managed funeral homes In Iowa and Minnesota before purchasing a partnership in a funeral home in Iowa and operating that business for 18 years. During that time another funeral home was purchased and a new funeral home constructed. He retired in 2007 and moved to Arizona. One his passions was flying small planes and gliders, which he is an instructor of both, and spent two years teaching people how to fly gliders before feeling the call back to funeral service. When Mountain View was purchased by Daniel Coury a son of the founder, he joined Mountain View as General Manager. Steve’s strong convictions in caring for families and providing the very best of service and facilities serves him well in continuing on the tradition of Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery.

I would consider going to any other cemetery other than this one. The management changed hands and the current management does not care for the community of families that it services.
The cemetery management is truly out for money and money only. They do not care about the families that have loved ones buried out there as proven by the recent trunk or treat event that was scheduled to be held on the property. While the event was changed The whole motivation behind the event leaves me wondering what were they thinking. The cemetery families voiced extreme out rage over this and yet the management having change the name of the event carried out the event regardless because they felt it was «their duty to the community» to hold this event.
I know that they say that they’ve been in the community since 1951 and it’s their duty to return community service however there is a proper respect full way to do things and then there is a tacky in proper way to do things. I know of no other cemetery in the valley that would consider holding a Halloween event on their property open to the public. I do know the Arlington national Cemetery and Pearl Harbor would also not be holding these types of events. When management loses the respect and the sanctity of the cemetery they’ve lost respect for what they do

We lost my 60 year old mother to Cancer last year. We used this company. Which was good. until I noticed this Month they are hosting a Halloween festival. I have lost all respect for Mountain View funeral Home. Let our memories and grieving stages… NOT involve a carnival. It is wrong. I will NEVER recommend your funeral home for grieving families. :(:(

We recently found ourselves using the services of this fantastic facility when my wife’s grandmother died. Steve and his team made a tragic event far less stressful. They had answers to all of our questions, and even answered questions we didn’t know to ask. They walked us through some difficult paperwork and treated everyone in the family with the utmost respect and care.
I would absolutely recommend Mountain View to anyone dealing with the loss of a friend or family member.
REGARDING THE NEGATIVE POSTS: I have seen a couple people on here misrepresenting the pumpkin patch and Trunk or Treat events. I talked to the management about this, and they clarified it for me that there WAS NOT going to be any events happening in the burial areas, only in the common areas, and that this event in previous years has drawn a lot of people to get free pumpkins. They decided to expand the event this year to add the Trunk or Treat in order to give families a safer option to regular Halloween activities for their kids. I think the people who are misrepresenting this should consider that this is something positive for the community, rather than trying to use the memory of their departed loved ones to make a social statement.

I have family buried here and think the events Mountain View does for the community are wonderful. We try to make it to whatever events they do whether it’s for Mother’s Day or the holiday remembrance service where you can decorate ornaments in memory of your loved ones. They make you feel like family which is so important! My kids are really looking forward to the trunk or treat/fall festival. If you haven’t been to this funeral home/cemetery try to visit during one of their events. Keep up the great work Mountain View!!!

Look, funerals and cemeteries are usually not fun places to be, there is no denying that. Fortunately, the staff at Mountain View go above and beyond to be respectful and comforting during a troubling time. You can tell that ethics and empathy are more important than chasing another dollar for the sales staff and the managemnt made it abundantly clear they were there to address any issues or problems (of which we had none.) As far as the people below having issues with their community outreach programs, I am sorry for your loss and I can understand how this could sound untoward. However, I truly appreciate the ownership’s attempts to make the facility a part of the community and bring positive uplifting energy to an otherwise depressing and sad place. I had the pleasure of attending one of the events and it was respectful and far removed from the actual graves. I suspect those complaining have failed to actually experience these events first hand and are looking for something to be upset about. Overall, I encourage anyone who need funerary services to visit Mountain View.

This is «touchy» subject for anyone and everyone. However, after meeting with Leah and learning about their advanced planning services, my husband and I are at great ease. We are happy to know someone so trusted, honest and patient to be able to help us when our time of need arises. Leah is so knowledgeable and thorough and some how she manages to make a «touchy» situation simple and easier. We are happy to know her and would recommend a meeting with her by anyone of any age.

No one, of course likes writing reviews on businesses like these, but it’s still a business and in the end a very much appreciated business. This family owned and operated funeral home and cemetery is very personable, caring and peaceful. I know this funeral home and cemetery well for I unfortunately have been to a few services here. Yesterday we celebrated the remembrance of my aunt at this funeral home. The facility is very nice and peaceful, it has a small calming fountain out front when you first walk in, spacious hallways for family members to gather and the actual chapel where the ceremonies are held is very pleasant. They have all the updated technology needed for slide shows and music for the ceremony, the staff is very friendly and professional and the atmosphere most importantly is calm.
The cemetery itself is very serene with beautiful grass, luscious trees, fountains, benches and beautiful columbariums. Each time I come here to visit a friend or family member I am very pleased that there are never any problems. The grounds are kept tidy, headstones are always cleaned, you are allowed to decorate the headstones and trees around your loved ones site. This funeral home and cemetery treat you and your family as if you are a family member of their own. It’s nice to know that your loved ones resting place is being taken care of at all times. In the unfortunate event that you yourself have to say goodbye to someone, I would definitely recommend meeting with staff from Mountain View, they do make the process a little easier and it gives you peace of mind knowing your loved ones resting place is beautiful and tranquil at all times.
