Mercer Island Thrift Shop

Enjoyed browsing and I’m impressed at the quality of donations here. If you’re timing is right, you may find some treasures here. I liked it that I came on Martin Luther Day ‘cuz everything was 30% off. Found some impressive costume jewelry here. The lady at the jewelry section was extremely helpful and so enjoyed talking to her. Very pleasant personality.

This place is just okay. The store is large, with the apparel and shoes on the upper level. It is well organized but located in an old building. There is a large assortment of merchandise here, ranging from furniture, to bicycles/​ski equipment/​golf equipment, to clothing to toys. The prices seem a bit high to me for being a store that gets donated goods, and there isn’t a range of markdown/​sale prices. This would be a good place to go if you know exactly what you want but don’t want to buy new.

I love checking out Thrift and Vintage shops while on vacation (my husband hates it). While staying in Mercer Island, I figured I would check out MITS — rich island must donate good stuff right? I was very impressed how well it was organized and the friendly service we received.
On the first walk around, I was ready to walk out without buying anything. Then I heard a mom telling her daughter about a beautiful real fur coat. Now, I am really against animal furs but I thought the coat was beautiful and figured it was vintage anyway. Looked at the price tag. $ 150. not bad … oh wait. lavender tag … 75% off! Sold. This motivated me to continue digging a bit and I found near brand new BCBG and White House/​Black Market dresses each for around $ 10.
Great shop for great finds … especially if you know your brands and willing to dig. I wish I could go back again!

This is the best thrift shop I have ever shopped at! The store manager is very nice and very helpful! The employees that work here are always friendly. I love Mercer Island Thrift Shop!

I had entered the open thrift shop one morning, speaking to a clerk prior to entering the store, and another customer shopping outside. I saw an item I liked on a shelf, and went to pull it off the shelf, when the seat (it was a chair) of the item, flew straight off, and was at just the right height to hit me on the nose, hard. It was very painful and my nose started bleeding everywhere and tears were rushing out of eyes, as a man (whom I believe I recognized as an employee or manager from previous store visits, once I dried my eyes with napkins from my purse), asked me what was going on. He proceeded to be extremely arrogant, rude, and presumptuous, accusing me of «wandering» into the store, that the store wasn’t open, and that MY daughter was looking for me in the store! I have no daughter, and I overheard (as he probably did too) this young girl inquiring to the girl at the counter, if her mother was in the store, because she didn’t know where she was! So he ASSUMED that I would have not only wandered into the store, but also would have lost my daughter (by the way, the girl was clearly more than likely not my daughter, not that adoption should be ruled out…). He was scolding, berating. I told him that it was none of his business unless he worked there, at which point, he said nothing, turned around and walked directly upstairs (which is where the store’s office is, coincidently). A few days later (taking their time), I received a phone call, in response to my husband’s furious voicemail, where the man apologized and told me (quite unconvincingly) that the man I saw didn’t work there but was a contractor and that they were doing construction. So my response to him was «why are your doors open to the public before the store is open, with no one watching/​caring, letting even children into your store, while construction is going on?» He had no response. Later, I spoke with a neighbor who also had a terribly rude experience with an older woman who works or manages the shop, which happens to be the SAME woman I also had a very rude experience with in the shop prior to this experience! That is it for me, my family is Never going back there. They need to have SERIOUS Improvements done on their customer service and safety fronts… just because they are doing a good service to the public (they donate proceeds to their youth & family services), they must abide by the rules and systems of any main street business.

For those looking for name brand used clothing this place has a great women’s selection on the second floor! This is where the «well-​to-​do» donate their stuff!

Decent prices, shirts $ 8 – 10, jeans $ 10 – 18. Pretty good selection of brands, and NO LIMIT IN THE FITTING ROOMS.

Love coming here on my lunch breaks. You can definitely get lucky and find some great stuff here. Iv found shoes (like new), dresses (brand new), and many other knick knacks. They do a great job at keeping the place organized and always have friendly staff. Check it out if your on the island.

Great prices and quality for a thrift shop. I got a clean, white, stuffed chair for $ 30! What??? Also a nice platter and a couple books for just literally a couple dollars more.
Will be back. Don’t take all the cool stuff.

Went here for the first time on Tuesday after hearing an ad on the radio. It was «designer week» and everything in the store was 20% off.
I don’t know if they read other reviews about the prices being too high & lowered them or what but I thought their prices were great! Even without the 20% discount items were very reasonable.
Smallish parking lot. Shared with Mercerdale Park. Upstairs women’s clothing area was too crowded for my taste. Would like a little more room between the racks. Not very many shoes.
Can’t wait to go back. :)

First of all, I LOVE thrift stores. I’m a stylist, and I get a ton of great pieces from second hand shops. My grandma lives on Mercer Island so I hit the thrift shop, just about every time I see her (at least 3 times a month), and in the last few months the prices have become unreasonably high. Sure, you might find a pair of designer jeans for $ 20 or $ 30, but I for one will not pay $ 8-​$ 15 for anything used from stores such as Forever21, Target, WetSeal, or Old Navy. That, AND I’ve seen the same Forever21 sweater there for two months straight.
What makes thrift stores rad is that you might find a gem for cheap. If thats not going to happen you might as well go to Forever21, at least they have regular sales.

Not sure what happened over the last month or so, but their pricing is ridiculous can completely off now.
There are used items here which are priced higher than the brand new item on sale. Also they used to have a rough system where they look up the item online and cut the prices deeply from there depending on quality of course, but now it just seems to be hokey pokey magic number poof pricing.

This quaint thrift shop is one of the largest thrift shops I have seen. It’s in what appears to be a house by the Mercerdale Park on Mercer Island. There are furniture, books, jewelry, video games, kitchen items, clothing, and shoes to give you an idea of what is here.
I am primarily interested in thrift shop clothing so I went upstairs to take a look. There was a big selection for women, men, and children. The staff were gracious enough to group by types of clothing — sweaters, pants, knit tops, etc. I saw an interesting array of brands here (for women): majority Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, INC by Macy’s, etc. but I found a few designer brands like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Theory, Splendid, French Connection UK. Interesting array of clothing and prices. For example this cute Marc by Marc Jacobs navy tank was priced at $ 20.00. There was also a pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans for $ 20.00, and a Theory white vest for $ 12 (!). I ended up getting a waffle pink striped Splendid shirt for only $ 5!
They have a small selection of handbags but unfortunately I found quite a few fake designer bags. But most of the bags were priced like under $ 15 anyway.
The books section is decent. The General fiction books are actually alphabatized by author last name. General paperbacks are $ 1.99
This store gets quite busy on the weekends. The layout at the cash register is kind of awkward — there are two shelves in the middle of the aisle — so I would expect awkward waiting in line.

The Mercer Island Thrift Shop operates as most thrift shops do, as a fundraiser. It supports the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services and provides job training and whatnot.
The prices are a bit higher than at Goodwill or another thrift shop. The items are nice, but not hugely better than local Goodwills in Seattle and Bellevue. It is always busy, though. There is a lot of turnover, so if you are looking for something specific, visit often.
Located near Mercerdale Park, it is a hop, skip and a jump off I-​90.

This thrift store is set up very well as thrift stores go. While their shoe section is small, the shoes are usually in great shape– and the brands are quality. Its clothes are often on the small side, so if you wear an 8 or smaller you’re in luck. This is a decent place to pick up purses and bags, unique lower cost jewelry and scarves. Just check them out for flaws. I once bought a necklace here with beads on strands of thin chain. The necklace was cool in theory but not balanced right so it hangs weird when I wear it. Buyer beware!
Parking can be an issue– the lot is small and used by visitors to the Mercerdale Park. They feature colored tag sales on a regular basis. And their small household goods section has cool stuff. The bigger items, like furniture, not so good.
Definitely check it out if you are in the area and enjoy thrifting.

My daughter and I ventured over to Mercer yesterday, because we were already in downtown Bellevue. I’ve wanted to check this place out since we moved to the Seattle area based on all of the raving reviews here on Unilocal.
They’re having their 50% off Spring sale in order to make room for new items. I like that they organize this place like a consignment store vs. a thrown together thrift shop. That’s nice.
My 4 year old made out like a bandit. She scored a pair of pink jelly shoes, a pink purse, and a strawberry shortcake DVD for about $ 13 for all of them. Very cute women’s items and shoes that look barely worn. I want to go back when they have more clothing inside, their selections are smaller right now due to the seasons changing (I’m assuming).
I peeked at their furniture section, and similar to what I’ve found in other consignment/​thrift stores they had ok items but most were very much over priced. And, not in the best shape. I will keep checking back, though. The people working there were helpful and very nice. They mentioned that certain sections go on sale at different points, also.

Overall, for a thrift store: It’s pretty nice. The items are all nice, and well preserved.
I bought a Barry Manilow Vinyl for $.99. HA!
The selection of stuff seems to be a little more upscale…(Thanks rich, Mercer Island residents.)

This is a great little thrift store that I love to visit every time I’m in the area. There are some great finds to be had at pretty fair prices. Pretty much every thing in the store is of good quality and in good condition.
Easy to find location and accessible parking for dragging all your goodies back to the car.
I would give it 5 stars but the last two times I was in there the staff were all griping about each other and it was a little unpleasant.

This place is a must stop for me any time I’m in Mercer Island. The selection of merchandise tends toward the upscale, and the organization makes finding what you’re looking for easy.
Over the last four months, I have scored the following from this thrift store:
A Callaway Big Bertha Warbird 5 wood and driver (5 wood for me, friend grabbed the driver). Price $ 12 each, compare at $ 50 each for the exact same club, used on eBay. (these clubs ran ~$ 200 new, yes they’re old but they still hit amazingly well).
An Adams Tight Lies 7 wood. $ 8. Compare at $ 30 used on eBay vs $ 90 new.
Two Nordstrom brand vintage sport coats, $ 8 each. No idea what the comparable price would be since they’re vintage, but man they’re nice!
A Polo «classic oxford» dress shirt (saw almost the exact same shirt at Macy’s for $ 85), excellent condition, $ 6.
A Nordstrom french cuff dress shirt (in amazing condition, still super soft, no rips tears stains, etc, new at Norstrom would cost ~$ 100) for $ 6.
As you can see, deals abound. Maybe their prices have crept up (as a couple reviewers have mentioned), I don’t know. All I know is I am very satisfied with everything I have purchased there, and always get excited when I know I’m going back.

A small but interesting thrift shop.
The pricing here is not so consistent. Some things are a little high, some are great deals. However, generally the quality of items is pretty good. The furniture (kept outside during the day under an awning area) is usually pretty decent and is priced well.
They have a cool wall near the registers where they have «antique/​interesting/​weird» stuff.. .. I LOVE looking there! Have found some interesting gems there!
Also, their staff is always super friendly and upbeat!
