I was looking for high quality shoe repair for very expensive handmade Italian men’s shoes.
They met my exacting requirements handily.
The workmanship was excellent and the shoes were ready when promised (a week and a half– which is what I expected– I would have been suspicious of less).
Also they offer a competitively priced shoe shine upon delivery.

If you know these guys they are amazing! Family owned. I just got my boots back and they look absolutely amazing!!! If you ever need a repair or even if you’re just looking for new shoes they’re you’re best bet. I work in the teriyaki place next door and they always come in and are the nicest.

I have been to Chick’s Shoe Repair about 10 times in the past 8 years, and everything positive that customers have to say about this business is right on the money. I was first recommended to Chick’s by my Primary Care Provider, an MD, then by two different podiatrists in Bellevue. Every time I have been there I have had excellent service and excellent advice about what kinds of shoes would work best for my 66-​year-​old feet. The best, most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn, I bought at Chick’s. Today, I brought him some shoes that I had bought at a different shoe store that needed to be widened at the top of the toe box. There was a one-​time charge for that, and they said that they would keep stretching the leather as many times as necessary until the shoes fit comfortably. In addition, I bought a pair of shoes on sale, a great buy, and Chick personally altered the shoe inserts while I waited, as I need special arch support. He did this effortlessly, and when I put the newly-​altered shoes on, they felt more comfortable than anything I had ever worn. All the custom-​fitting and cutting done to fit the shoe insert to my particular feet was free. This is the best place ever. I’ll be going back to Chick’s until he retires, which I hope won’t be for quite a while.

Overpriced.

I suggest you read my story before shopping here: I told a friend about some foot troubles I was having and he recommended Chick’s. After looking at all the great reviews I decided to give it a try. I explained my foot pain to Chris, the owner, and he recommended a different causal shoe than the ones I had been buying and wearing for over 10 years. He also put some padding in some insoles he recommended that he thought would solve my foot pain. I bought the casual shoe and inserts along with a pair of dress shoes. After a few days I started having some pain in my knees, so I stopped wearing the casual shoes. The pain went away. A few weeks later I started wearing the shoes again and the pain returned, so I stopped wearing them and the pain went away. During this time I was also noticing that the pain in my foot was getting worse. So I made an appointment with Dr. Dennis Gusman, a highly recommended podiatrist at Auburn Ankle and Foot. He quickly diagnosed my foot problem and told me the padding Chris had put in the insole would actually make my foot pain worse. He completely changed the padding in the insole and also told me the casual shoes I had bought at Chick’s would not be good for me given my foot and knee condition. He strongly recommended I wear the casual shoes I had previously been wearing. Within a few days my knee problems were gone and in less than a month my foot pain was gone. For various reasons it took me a while to visit Chick’s to return the casual shoes, but I was finally able to get there last week. I explained what happened to the clerk and said I’d like either a refund or store credit. She told me I would need to wait until Chris returned to the store (he was at lunch). I explained that I didn’t have time to wait so I asked what I should do. A different clerk, who had always been unfriendly when I’d been in the store before, abruptly and rudely told me I would need to «call and make an appointment with Chris and bring the shoes with me». In other words, even though I’d been given and followed bad advice from Chris about two things, spent quite a bit of money and time on that bad advice and been significantly inconvenienced by it I would now need to «call and make an appointment» to return the shoes I never should have bought in the first place. I walked out and will never return. Very rude service and bad advice.

Needed to get some shoes fitted after a car accident injured my back. Chris took the time to help me fit some of my current shoes and actually found some heals that I could wear for work that didn’t hurt my back. Thank you and I will be back.

I went to Chick’s to have professional custom orthotics made that I could switch from shoe to shoe so that all my shoes would be comfortable. CJ (I think that is his name) spent over an hour with me and ultimately decided that it would be a good idea to just tweek my existing inserts with some pads and if the extra pads didn’t help then we could discuss custom orthotics later. I was impressed that he didn’t immediately pressure me into buying expensive custom orthotics. I thanked him for spending all of his time with me even without making a big «sell.» He said that giving good service was more important than making big money. Hooray for him and his store.

Today I went back to Chick’s for an individual shoe fitting appointment with Chris. He was very helpful in finding shoes to help relieve the pain I was having. He also modified the shoes I wore in, and another pair I had in the car, so both work better for my feet. And, I brought another three pairs back from home, and he modified those, also. He didn’t charge anything for these minor modifications on five pairs of my shoes. Because of the modifications, I didn’t need to replace any of my current shoes. I did need sandals, and found that they stock a brand that has the very high arches that I need. I got both sandals and slippers in that line. And, he said that if there is any problem, he can modify them as well.
I also learned that my problem was NOT a result of uneven wear, as I’d been previously told by a podiatrist. So, he refunded my money and returned the shoes I’d brought in to be re-​heeled. Instead, he modified them by adding the support that I need (and didn’t charge me for that).
I am impressed with the level of service I received and the store’s ability to modify shoes to suit my feet. Thank you, Chick’s!

Great shoe repairs & helpful staff. Hard to find parking… but there is usually plenty in the bank lot behind the strip mall, towards the bird store. Just don’t stay there all day & you shouldn’t get towed.

I’ve lived on MI for 6+ years and finally had a need for shoe repair. Chick’s did me right. Really nice people, quality work, and they rushed the order for me. I am now a devoted fan. If only I had more shoe repair needs, but they also have a nice selection of shoes for sale.

Shoes, but no Service!
Chick’s had some shoes outside that caught my eye, I walked in to the store with a shoe that I wanted to try. There was a man and a woman behind the counter they both looked at me but did not greet me, so after a moment I said hello to them and the man then asked if I wanted to try on the shoe I had in my hand. He went to find the shoe and I asked the woman if they had any sandals with arch support, she waved her hand indicating the shop and said «just look around, that is most of what we have» I thought that was weird, but maybe she wasn’t supposed to come out from behind the counter. While I looked around at shoes, an older man came out form the back on a cell phone and sat down on one of the chairs and proceeded to carry on a conversation on his cell phone. I tried on several pairs of shoes the young man brought out at my request (I felt like I was at pay less shoes, no one helped me try them on or asked what I liked or disliked about the shoes). Although I did purchase a pair of shoes the whole experience was odd, while everyone was friendly and the shoe selection was good, the customer service was lacking and not at all what I expected from such a highly rated store. If you want to shop with no one bothering you, this is your kind of place. I have since realized that this is really a great shoe repair place that only looks like a shoe store.
