I have several kids so I live in jc penny. Sometimes they have great deals and then they have faulty advertising like the 1 cent sale where they just mark up the price of items lol. All and all a great place to shop for everyday kids clothing.

I am very disappointed. I went to Penney’s to find a Cleveland Indians t-shirt for the wildcard game on Wednesday, October 2nd. I was happy that they had a few shirts(this is why they got 2 stars). They were good quality and on sale for 20% off of the JC Penney price of $ 35.00. I thought I was getting a good deal. When I got home I noticed the JC Penney price tag was over the original price tag so I peeled it off. The original price was blacked out. I peeled the original price tag off and I could clearly make out the price. It was $ 28.00. They marked up their prices and then discounted for the sale. The total came out to be the original $ 28.00. I wish I would have gone to Dicks Sporting Goods and got the same exact shirt on sale for $ 22.40. I would be very cautious buying items on sale if there is a price tag over the original sticker price. You may find that JC Penney is over charging you.

Haberdashery. Just let that mellow for a bit. Fine threads– details like nice buttons and trims, a good fit– not too baggy, colors other than black. These are the clothing qualities I embrace. I tend to dress like a bit of a dandy in my free time. Think Andre 3000 on a Young MC budget. To procure really great dandy-ish clothes, the go to option used to be thrift/vintage stores. Can’t do that anymore. Two reasons. I’m a size larger now. At six feet and some, old 60’s clothes made for the diminutive Mad Men of yesteryear look like doll clothes on me. Reason two– bed bugs. I haven’t set foot in a resale shop since the epidemic broke. So now all the old clothes I bought in my 20’s don’t fit. Needed to update the wardrobe. My wife was sale shopping at Penney’s and found great fitting pants(size 36, proper length, not trash bag poofy) that look and feel amazing! Orange, deep blue, bone colored cord and dark grey cord. Ten bucks a pop. I shit you not. Four pants, forty bucks. I was happy with this score, but wait, it gets better. Last weekend I wanted to dress like the bad guy from Justified(creepy southern preacher meets spaghetti western shopkeeper). I had a blazer, white shirt, brown vest. Tried them on. Ha. The vest I proudly rocked on the streets of LA back in 06, now looked like a sports bra. How could I have gotten taller/fatter? Oh right, beer. So I set out on vest quest. Marshall’s– don’t make me laugh. That store blows primo. Never found a thing there ever. Kohl’s– only complete suits, and everything in the place is super expensive. Really douchey stuff, too. I mean Marc Anthony suits? No. I gave up. Dejected, I sank into a depression of Whopper sandwiches and NBA all star activities. But the wife came through again the next day. She went to Penney’s and found me five, count em, five unique vests and two more blazers for a total of $ 170! Houndstooth, striped, subtle plaid, etc. Just in time for the sweltering heat of summer! Anyhow, I’ve always liked Penney’s growing up. I shopped there every couple of years for sports apparel and what not. But they have stepped up their game. Should I invest in custom made suits and stuff from smaller mom and pop shops? I guess. But I’m not rich. And these clothes are not crappy. Trust me, I know quality. I invest in designer duds when I see a good deal. To me, a good wardrobe is a mix of a few select expensive items and a bulk of cheaper items, with a few older vintage pieces mixed in. Not too much of any kind. And no jeans. I don’t do jeans. So look for me in the PD style section this spring. Cue ZZ Top’s Sharp Dressed Man…
