I made the mistake of running with my glasses on, and as a result one of the screws connecting the frame to one of the handles went missing. As a law student getting prepared for final exams, the last thing I needed was the added inconvenience of having a broken pair of glasses.
I called this LensCrafter around 10:45am and told them my issue. They said I could stop by whenever and anyone there could easily solve my problem. Once I got inside an employee found me, took my glasses, fixed them, tightened the other screws, and cleaned them all within two minutes. The problem was solved immediately, and the total trip (from school, to the LensCrafter, and back) took less than an hour.
I’ve never had such an easy and seamless walk-​in at a eyeglasses shop. I highly recommend this one.

Check your bill and be aware of what your insurance covers.
Due to eye problems right now my prescription is changing constantly but I needed some glasses for driving. Came here and told the very friendly assistant that I just needed lenses and the cheapest option that they have since these glasses will only be useful for a couple of weeks. Fortunately my insurance covers all but $ 10 of the cost of basic lenses.
We left the store for an hour and my wife got a call asking for our credit card number and, guess what, our cost would be only $ 170. And this is a great bargain because the list price was $ 350.
Turns out we had been «upgraded» to polycarbonate lenses without our request or permission. All it took was a polite «no thanks» to get the standard lenses at the requested $ 10 cost but why the upgrade in the first place?
Could have been an honest mistake. Or does this happen to others? I wonder…
Make sure you check your bill when you leave and know your insurance benefits before entering.

Have visited this place twice. But just notice they are NOT a provider from VSP. The people in the store should have told me that. However, they did not mention throughout the process and charged me over $ 100 for eye exam which will be $ 10 for an VSP store. I have mentioned that I have VSP so they should have told me they are not in VSP networks. I will never go into a lenscrafters store ever again

Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours here if you’re having an eye exam, and purchasing new glasses and contact lenses!
The eye exam process is quick, thorough, and organized. I highly recommend Dr. Naileen Chand, who listens very carefully to patients and their concerns. She is the best! It’s worth going here just to see Dr. Chand.
The selection of glasses frames at LensCrafters is just OK, but with good insurance coverage, one can get a pretty nice deal. Be advised to do your homework first, to be fully informed of competitive prices and lens options. Ask for AAA and/​or VSP discounts, and look online for coupons or discount codes.
What earns this place 2 stars is the *glacial* checkout process at LensCrafters. The billing paperwork is done while you wait, and, if their computers are slow (always) or systems are down (usually swamped at the end of the calendar year), be prepared to wait and wait and wait… Even with the help of 3 managers, it took over 2 hrs to complete my checkout process for new frames/​lenses and new contacts. Unacceptable!
Come here keenly aware of the time investment you have to make in order to get a discounted deal on your vision needs!

As I read these other reviews, having been in this store and having worked with their associates, I don’t have a hard time imagining their feedback to be true. I used to work in retail for both HUGO BOSS and Macy’s, and understand that each store and brand has a different selling culture. My approach as a customer is to come in pre-​informed, and to talk with multiple associates till I decide which person is going to HELP me most by asking good questions and really understanding my needs, both in the areas I’m aware of and in those I am not [yet]. I look for a good-​natured consultant who understands the resources they have available to offer me, and why each may be a beneficial /​not-​so-​useful option for me to consider.
My purchase involved two visits to the store. During my visit, I worked with Dr. Mary Tran, who introduced me to the beautiful & classy pair of RALPH LAUREN brunette/​gold speck tortoise-​shell glasses I ended up purchasing. In the process, she showed me about 17 pairs of glasses to consider based on the first few rounds of feedback I gave her. I came in with a clear understanding of what I wanted, but with an open-​mind to experiment, so I appreciated the bits of 3^rd-​party feedback she gave me.
The second time I went in, Mary was not present, so I worked with Adam to reconsider my favorite 3 pairs from my previous visit, and he agreed that my final selection not only framed my face the best, but would also allow me the most flexibility with my diverse wardrobe containing jeans & t-​shirts, workout clothes, and formal work/​evening attire. He did offer me insurance on my glasses, which I purchased, and anti-​glare lenses, which I did not but sometimes wish I had purchased. I did ask if I could try a pair of anti-​glare and a pair of glare lenses to compare the two, and he said they didn’t have a pair of anti-​glare I could try (***NOTE TO STORE: always have a pair of non-​prescription anti-​glare lenses for customers to try on. In this digital day & age, anti-​glare lenses should practically sell themselves but most customers don’t understand the value of anti-​glare until they’ve felt & worn it. Have a pair for them to try***). Adam then fitted me for the glasses and had my lens prescription placed within them in under 2hrs. I went to grab ice cream at TIN POT CREAMERY in Palo Alto while I waited.
I did not check my receipt for extra charges, so I do not know if there are any on there. The final pair were expensive (~$ 350) but I am happy with them and plan on using the same pair for years.
MY ADVICE TO PROSPECTIVE SHOPPERS:
– do some research before going in; compare prices.
– remember that when you’re comparing stores to online vendors, stores are more expensive BUT offer an extra layer of speed & assistance that you can’t get with an online service due to the time it takes to mail merchandise back & fourth.
– consider whether or not you want anti-​glare, especially if you work with digital screens/​monitors on a regular basis. Trust me, it does make a difference!

They’ll try to rip you off. Make sure you look at the bill before paying.
But they did a fairly good job with my glasses.

Came here today and had a phenomenal experience. Had an expired prescription and they got me in with the doctor very quickly. The whole staff was very helpful and knowledgable. Picked up my glasses in an hour. Very great selection of frames. All name brand glasses. Recommend if in the area.

Minus 5 if I had the chance. First they got my prescription wrong. They acknowledged they goofed, told me they’d have me sit in with the ‘better’ optician for another eye exam. New frames and everything. Glasses to be ready in 10 days. Called them up to collect my frames and the manager claimed they had no record of my re-​ordering. … So no new frames and I was still blind in the old pair they gave me. After much screaming and shouting, they admitted they goofed (again) and offered a slight discount. What are the chances they won’t goof up again? They seemed very proficient in admitting their screwing up. Probably a lot of practice — perhaps Lenscrafters even has a «How to admit you goofed up» program for their trainees. Worthless in giving what the customer wants. Be forewarned and stay away from these lying incompetent jackasses.

Good service, good work. Had 1 hour service to replace lenses in my old glasses with non-​prescription plastic. Not only was customer agent helpful and friendly, the lab guy came to talk to me to be sure he understood what I really wanted. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that it cost about $ 150. That was in line with the For Eyes store I checked with by phone, but I was hoping for under $ 100.

Best service ever … Got my prescription frames and glasses in less than 2 hours. The personnel and optometrist provided me with a 5 star service … Thumbs up. Definitely coming back for contacts and sunglasses !

The salespeople here lie and the merchandise is way overpriced.
The frames were between $ 100 – 400, so I asked how much it would cost if I paid for the lenses alone. They said the lenses were $ 600+. I said I was going to Costco instead, and the salesperson tried to get me to stay by saying Costco doesn’t sell hi-​index lenses (a lie). When I got to Costco they laughed and said LensCrafters was just trying to sell me expensive glasses.
My Costco bill ended up being $ 174.96 (including the frames). It’s a lot cheaper to go to Costco, even if you include the cost of buying a new membership. I would even say it’s worth buying a Costco membership just to get glasses.

Terrible.
They made my glasses with the wrong prescription. I didn’t see a major difference in my vision when I received the new glass, but I presumed I needed to get used to them or that my prescription hadn’t changed much. But I kept feeling that I couldn’t see very well, so I went back to the eye doctor the following year to get a new prescription. After telling him I couldn’t see with the glasses I got the previous year, he put the glasses into a machine and told me the prescription of the lenses didn’t match the one he had given me on my previous visit. So I paid $ 500 for a pair of useless glasses.
This is after a previous experience where I was displeased with this Lens Crafters. I got a major scratch on my right lens, and wanted to get it replaced. They would not allow me to replace a single lens, even though the left one was fine. So I asked them to keep the old lenses, so that if anything ever happened to the left lens I could use the old one as a replacement. After all, I paid for all 4 lenses. They agreed, but when I came to pick up the lenses, they had not kept the old ones for me. Luckily, I never needed to replace the other lens, but it seemed very sketchy to me.

While I have no problem with the products sold here I constantly feel like I have to make an extra effort to not get extra charges. My glasses are great but costs seemed to sneak up from everywhere. If you decide to get eyewear from here make sure you get the discounts right and keep a keen eye on where charges are coming from.

Be warned: examine your bill CAREFULLY, and ask ahead of time for hidden charges. I just got ripped off for $ 80, and it would have been $ 150+ more if I hadn’t been paying careful attention:
1) They did some extra test on me, WITHOUT asking, that they KNEW my insurance didn’t cover. $ 80 for that one.
2) They neglected to put in my insurance information, which added $ 100 to the bill. I had to tell them again about my insurance.
3) WHen they finally rang me up, it had a random extra $ 50 for no reason. I pointed this out and they refunded the difference.
4) They originally rang me up for the very most expensive lenses and add-​on features, without asking.
Plus, it took over 2 hours from start to finish, mostly because they kept messing up on stuff.
I can see why this place gets so many crappy reviews…

Be warned other customers… I read the reviews and thought how bad could it be? Everything was fine except my experience with one of the sales people.
Dr. Huynh and one of the technicians that took my initial exams were extremely pleasant and patient. It was when I went to choose frames out that I got the rudest and most pushy treatment. I believe her name was Irene (reddish brown hair, green eyes and eastern European accent), but I had already picked out 2 frames that I wanted. She came over and said that I needed to pick new frames because with my prescription, the lenses would be too heavy and thick.
She then proceeded to start picking out the most expensive designer frames in the store that she thought I would like $ 300-​$ 450 frames (even though the ones I wanted were $ 180-​$ 200). Then I told her what my style was and she disregarded and still threw in piles of glasses that I would not wear. She then proceeded to act frustrated when I put all of them in a no pile. While trying on my glasses she started talking with another coworker about a time a customer came in and didn’t like any of her frames, picked her own and was unsatisfied because they were too heavy when they put the lenses in and asked for a refund. It felt like she was talking about me behind my back even while I was standing there. I ultimately decided not to get new frames due to that comment and her fake smile turned into an obvious big frown. She continued to try and pressure selling me that a new frame would be better and easier for them to work with in putting in lenses. I was firm on no and she was definitely not happy.
Then I proceeded to pay for just my lenses and she had the nerve to tell another salesperson nearby that she was OK since she knew I was paying a lot of money. Then kept having me take tests, mark on my glasses and then give me a cold response that if my frames were to break when they are putting in new lenses that they are not liable and I would have to buy new ones anyway (still felt like she was trying to pressure sell me).
Even after I paid, she was rude and threw all of my papers and an envelope in a pile in front of me. It was another salesperson that came over to help me put all of my papers in the envelope. Then Irene proceeded to give me a receipt and told me about an entry drawing for a $ 500 gift card and then added «Although I doubt you will win anything» in a rude manner. Jeeze, what is that supposed to mean? No thank you, no smile, didn’t allow me to ask questions, and just extreme negativity from her. Luckily the other salesperson sitting nearby was pleasant to me.
My experience would have been way more pleasant if this woman wasn’t there serving me. Everyone else was fine. Just not her. Never again LensCrafters.

Got my new glasses in January. Glasses came with scratch resistant insurance, anti-​glare, etc. I’ve kept my glasses in it’s container and only using their cleaning cloth to clean it, i’ve notices scratches all over my lens. I called them, asked them if they could fix it/​do something about, they told me that they can only replace tehm but i have to pay $ 100 out of my own pocket.
You guys should read their policies before you use their services. I shouldve just went to my eye doctor, they have better service there and wouldve paid less, Lens Crafters was out of network but they do have a large selection of frames.
Lesson learned. I will never go back!!!

Everyone know Lens Crafters is a rip off. When you can buy glasses online for $ 8, you really have to wonder how these guys stay in business.
Well, it’s the 1 hour thing. For me, I hate going there, but I scratched up my lenses and needed them replaced without it taking a week.
I planned to do it on my lunch break, I called in advance to make sure they wouldn’t be busy, hoping to actually get it done in 1 hour, they said it would be 30 minutes! Cool!
I went, dropped off my glasses to a nice enough employee. She said it would actually be an hour. Not a big deal, I needed to do some shopping for a camping trip anyway.
I come back in an hour, still not done. They «scratched a lens and needed to redo it, and it’ll be another 30 minutes». Ok, fine…
I come back in 30 minutes, still not done. after another 30 minutes I finally got my glasses.
Lens Crafters slogan should be: «Glasses, we’ll tell you 30 minutes, but it’ll take 2 hours.»
Oh btw, for that «great» service I paid 80 bucks for the deep discount no nothing lenses. I’m pretty sure costco can do it for 30. From now on I’ll just have a 2^nd pair from zinni so I never have to go there again.

I had my FAA physical and it was apparent that I needed new glasses to pass, so off to Lenscrafters I went!
Fortunately for me Gabe was the first person I encountered and he sensed I really needed to get done in a hurry, so he got me an appointment with Eyexam of California who is the resident O.D. Annie Low. He even convinced her to delay her lunch hour to take me.
Gabe got me through all the testing and found me some new frames and made sure I got my AAA discount on top of the seasonal discount! Yea Gabe!
The down side was there was a problem with my glasses being created and it took another 40 minute wait to get them done or they would get five stars.
So if you need new glasses and are in a jam, make sure you get Gabe to help you!
