Gymnastics Program, Menlo Park

We recently celebrated my son’s birthday party at the Menlo Park Gymnastics Center with about a dozen of his friends. It turned out to be a very memorable experience and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Danielle and her staff were professional and helpful from the start. We were asked to arrive 15 minutes early to set up decorations and food, and with the staff on hand, many hands made light work. Our little gymnasts were guided to the gym floor, where they started out on the climbing equipment that included the running trampoline, trapeze and ball pit. We then moved on to the tumbling floor and uneven bars, then the ropes and foam pit (!) The staff provided guidance and played along with the kids, as did parents who were on the gym floor. We wrapped up with some parachute time that involved a flying turtle. Before leaving the gym floor, the parents got to jump into the foam pit as a special reward for being on their best behavior.
After we had cake and pizza (Captain Obvious tip: set an earlier delivery time if you’re getting delivery on a Sunday afternoon), the staff helped us clean up and bring our things back to our car.
All in all, a really great and fun-​filled birthday day, with lots of help to keep parents sane. Thanks Menlo Park Gymnastics!

My son has been going to Menlo Park gymnastics since he was 18 months and now is 3 ½. It is a great, clean, large facility with a professional, experienced staff. Menlo Park residents with children know this a great activity to enroll your children in, especially if their active. We have also celebrated my son’s birthday here and the staff was helpful setting up, organizing the activites and cleaning up. Makes the job easy for parents and fun for all the guests. I highly recommend this high caliber facility.

One star, because zero is not an option. I was beyond excited to take my daughter to kinder gym when she started walking, and am incredibly disappointed with our experience. First of all, there is no one leading the class. Well, maybe someone is there but they don’t do anything and don’t interact with the kids. No one even welcomed us or explained to us how the class worked. We had to miss two classes due to illness (and out of courtesy to other families we did not attend the gym), and they were absurdly inflexible about making up the two missed classes and were INCREDIBLY rude to me. Other places like mygym are well structured, have warm and friendly instructors, and are extremely flexible with makeup classes. I immediately asked for a refund (which I was CHARGED $ 15 to receive, for classes I never went to). I will never ever ever go back here. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of compassion I received from the staff and overall rudeness… For a ONE YEAR OLD gymnastics class.

Really wonderful establishment with a large facility for every aspect of gymnastics that you can think of. The gym is clean, organized, and very bright and cheerful. They have a nice sized viewing room for the parents to sit and watch their kids. The staff is friendly, and very attentive to the little ones. My daughter recently started taking classes again here after taking a year off and the new gym is so much better than before. My other daughter will start in the spring and I know she is already looking forward to it.
Overall I would highly recommend this place.

Very disappointed that the best preschool gymnastics teacher was fired. The program used to value it’s teachers, not sure why there has been such a dramatic change, but it’s not right. Pretty new gym, but it’s missing it’s sparkle.

My kids have taken many gymnastics classes at this facility over the last few years, and every time I keep wishing there was a better alternative nearby. The preschooler class teachers pretty much just supervise from a distance and let the kids explore on their own. For the age 2 – 3 set, this is fine, but for ages 3.5, 4, 5, I expect an increasing amount of actual gymnastics skills being taught, and that is NOT happening. I actually filed a complaint about a male teacher whose name begins with R that just stands there and does nothing the entire time. Stay far away. nothing came of my complaint. We transfered to a different teacher who was only marginally better.
Seriously, for a gym, they could do much better. They are just taking advantage of the lack of competition and raking in all the money from parents who all would choose the other option, should it exist.

My kids take gym class here and they love it. The instructors are very patient with little kids and love taking the class here. They are currently renovating and can’t wait to see the new gym.

Coming out of a winter swimming class at the pool at Burgess park, my son and I saw a swarm of energized, smiling faces spilling out of the gym next door. The contrast of these pink cheeked kids and the shivering cold boys emerging from the pool was too great. We had to switch activities!
And it has been fantastic. We both look forward to the class every week, and my son’s confidence level has skyrocketed. He likes coming here, and that makes all the difference in the world. I was surprised that the class is pretty balanced, girls and boys in equal attendance. It appeals to me that there is a good deal of structure in the class too. The kids really have an understanding of what is expected from them, they learn some circuits with little variations from week to week, and they really try their best. The staff is friendly, as are the patrons. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a fun indoor activity that really gets the little one’s heart pumping.

As a young child, I took occasional lessons and loved playing on the fun mats and equipment.
In elementary/​middle school, I decided to take gymnastics much more seriously. I worked up to Menlo Park Gymnastics pre-​team and team. I loved competing at gymnastics but did not take it too, too seriously. I trained hard many hours a week but also always had a ton of fun with my teammates and coaches. We may not have been the top team in the Bay Area but we had a great time and were a very close knit group.
When I injured my back in a horse-​back riding injury and had to quit gymnastics, I was devastated. However, when I had the opportunity to coach gymnastics for ages 1.5 to 12 back at this gym, I had the chance to keep living my passion.
This gym has nice equipment, excellent, kind coaches, and coaches for younger children who are extraordinary with children. I would highly recommend checking out Menlo Park Gymnastics!

It is part of our weekendly routine to take our kids to their gymanstics class. They love jumping on the giant trampoline, climbing the giant mats, and especially the parachute time. We like that they spend a lot of energy (yesss…the plans is working). This improves the odds of a good nap and a hearty apetite (on that note, it is essential to bring a snack for immediately following the class, or our little cherubic gymnasts will devolve into irrational monsters).
Instructors: They’ve all been friendly, but the enthusiasm/​quality varies. Young children get very little instruction and basically just play.
Cleanliness: OK, OK, here is the icky bit… the place smells like feet and once I saw a mouse dropping on a mat, but now I see mouse traps and no droppings so perhaps it is all taken care of.
