Description

Specialties

I don’t believe in the «One Size Fits All» lesson plan, so I like to cater my lessons to suit the needs of the individual athlete. However, for the sake of explanation, a typical session begins with essential stretching and warm-up drills (such as backbends, handstands, round-offs and back handsprings). Most of my clients seek tumbling technique help, so we would then move onto the core focus of the session. This of course depends on the athlete’s requested area of focus, whether that’s standing skills, passes, or cleaning up existing skills. I also teach cheer, jumping and stunting technique, which will be implemented as needed. Finally, I like to end my sessions (no matter the focus) with conditioning and strength training to solidify the importance of staying fit and healthy, and to further teach body awareness. Strength training also helps athletes gain control over their skills.

History

Established in 2013.

Coach Lain was founded out of a desire to share and a passion for teaching. I’ve seen too many athletes get hurt from improper technique, and too many ill-equipped instructors rush their athletes skills in the pursuit of a trophy.

I care about all of my athletes, every single one who walks through the door seeking helpful instruction. Every session is an investment into their future, their talent, and more importantly, their confidence. My greatest strength as a coach and instructor is listening to understand the issues an athlete is facing with their skills, and seeking an answer to their problem with them.

Athletes need to be pushed to excel, this is true. But at the end of the day, I believe that knowing someone truly cares about your progress can make a world of difference.

Business Owner

My name is Coach Lain. I am a technique instructor for cheer, meaning I help both beginner and advanced athletes with their technique to fortify their skills and strengthen their confidence. My motto is «Technique bridges the gap between confidence and skill». I believe that having solid technique not only keeps athletes safe, but also gives them the confidence they need to advance in their skills. I have been a cheer coach for over 12 years, coaching hundreds of athletes, ages 5 – 21, on their jump, stunt and tumbling skills. I’ve coached for high school and all-star teams, and was a competitive male cheerleader in high school. I love teaching technique and love passing on that knowledge to enthusiastic, young athletes! I love teaching kids, and seeing that priceless look on their faces after working hard to gain a new skill! Most of all, knowing that I’m keeping them safe and teaching them body awareness to prevent injury makes me proud to do what I do!
