We went here for breakfast this morning. The food was delicious, the server was quick and nice, and the attached gift shop didn’t feel like you were being forced to walk through a selection of wares that guilted your purchase, rather they sat unobtrusively out of the way so if you WANTED to purchase them, they were available without hassle. The ability to see the maple syrup manufacturing process and to get your own syrup for your food put this place above and beyond the typical touristically catered spots that line the main roadways of the area.

This is a must-visit place. The food, service, people, ambience and venue are all magnificent. The maple syrup is divine, as are the breakfast pancakes that we had with the Sampler. Yes — we also noticed there is an access ramp up to the lovely deck where we had our breakfast. Awesome place.

Finally, biscuits and gravy done right. Wife had the maple sugar pancakes that came in a huge order of 4. She ate maybe 2.5 and tapped out, so I got 1 to myself. Syrup was amazing. The hash brown potatoes were perfect amounts of crunchy with no raw potato taste. My sunny side up eggs were a little underdone, but easily overlooked. Prices were good(but I’m from an area with $ 10 – 15 breakfasts, so I’m not sure how that compares to the neighborhood). We sat at the counter and ate right away, but this place was packed. My 1 slight issue was that their syrup to buy was overpriced compared to some of the farms we drove to later in the day. Other than that, loved everything about this place.

Paul and I decided that we wanted to indulge in a guilty pleasure while spending a week at New Life Hiking Spa, and as it turned out, Maple Sugar & Vermont Spice was exactly what we wanted. Luckily, we were here off season, so we did not have a problem finding a seat. When I walked in the door, I thought«Cracker Barrel»(in a good way). You’ll know what I mean when you visit. Paul and I both decided on the breakfast sampler. He had pumpkin pancakes with his, and I had chocolate chip pancakes with mine. I tried his pancakes, and they were good, but mine were better. The butter they serve with the pancakes is mixed with something(not sure what), that makes it supremely delicious. The scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon were good. Our server was on the ball and super friendly. The only constructive feedback I can offer us to work on the iced tea. It was bitter, which is indicative of squeezing the tea leaves. If health were of no concern, I would gladly eat here every day.

Found this quaint little breakfast spot on our way to snowboard. Convieniently located near to Killington ski area. We found this place accidentally however they Absolutely killed it, traditional breakfast done perfectly. Exactly what one would expect to find out here in the woods of Vermont. Super busy however the wait was quick, for sure worth the wait. They have a large dining area fortunately. Outstanding friendly service was very welcoming on the way in and out. This all based on perfectly executed bacon eggs and pancake breakfast. Canadian bacon must try as well as the big fluffy pancakes with own maple syrup. Also must note their gift shop of all things maple syrup in which was the best we have found. Maple sugar candy and different grade syrup sampler is a must try. We will definitely be back to visit again.

Best French Toast I’ve ever had. Homemade white bread and delicious Vermont Maple syrup. Server with a great sense of humor and made us feel at home.

This is still by far the best breakfast place near Killington. I continue to dream about the pumpkin pancakes…

If you don’t get there early, the line is outrageous, but moves pretty quickly. We went there twice during our stay. The first day I ordered a breakfast sandwich. It felt too greasy, and I actually felt uncomfortable and kind of wanted to vomit from the sandwich itself. Too much oil or butter. I’m not sure. The homefries were good though… My husband got the mexican omlette and he gobbled it up. I probably should have prefaced this with I’m not a huge fan of breakfast food. so the second time we went I opted for a sandwich. A rueben to be more specific. Pretty standard, and very well made. My husband got the sugar & spice pancakes, those were actually quite delicious; and like I said, I’m not a big breakfast food fan(yes, I know, you want to stone me with rocks). The reason why I’m not giving it a high score, is because the cleanlieness of the utensils and cups. I asked for tea, and went to take a sip. as soon as my lips touched the cup, I could taste SALT. WHAT is that? Why are the cups dirty that I can taste residual Salt? And the utensils. some of the forks were mishapened and flat. Very displeasing to the eye. I also was sat next to a window. that was open. and snow blew onto me… Why was a window open in January?!

We found this place through Google which, by the way, also had great reviews. You feel like you’re sitting in your grandparents cabin having a hearty meal. The China shouldn’t go unnoticed, the plates have this old school decoration, the type you would find at an antique store. The food is incredible. Some of the best brunch I have ever had. Most of us kept it simple and went with the sampler platter, you can also swap out different pancakes within that order. I highly recommend so you get a taste of everything. Don’t hesitate to get some maple butter, pancake mix, maple syrup, etc. on your way out. Lastly, the owners added an extra special touch. They’re so kind and welcoming; they go around to each table to chat with guests and ask about their experiences.

Their maple ice cream is heavenly! So creamy and delicious! Maple Sugar is a great breakfast place to go if you’re in town. It has a nice, cozy atmosphere. Their menu items are good, but is a pretty standard breakfast– eggs, pancakes, homefries, etc. We still enjoyed getting breakfast here. We didn’t get the pumpkin pancakes. Instead we ordered the Sugar and Spice pancakes, which supposedly had cinnamon and maple sugar. It was yummy, but tasted like normal pancakes to me. We also shared the French Toast, Sugar House Sample(scrambled eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, and homefries), omelette of the day, and an order of hash. Make sure to try their syrup! They do not take reservations. The wait for a table isn’t too long, especially if you’re in a group of 2 – 4. Groups with more people may take about 30 minutes. They have a sample table and a gift shop downstairs to occupy your time. The staff here is super friendly. The owner tends to walk around and see how everyone is doing.

Sweet Spot for breakfast. This place it really cute. Overflowing with ambiance. The food is solid with all the expected breakfast offerings featuring Their own maple syrup made right there. If u come at the right time of year you can see it being made. They also have a really great gift shop that I love to stop at. I can find the stronger syrup and many other local products like cheddar cheese, jams, lotions and soaps. There are nice clothing selections as well, I have picked up some really nice sweatshirts and pajamas for my grandkids here. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so keep that in mind.

Maple syrup abounds in this truly Vermont dinning experience, where else could you have breakfast in a restaurant that actually makes it’s own maple syrup?! Artificial maple syrup costs extra(as it should, because it is an insult to real maple syrup), and the restaurant has the rustic Vermont feel that we all picture when we think of stereotypical Vermont. My husband and I have visited Vermont many times, but we never had breakfast at this restaurant. What a treat! We enjoyed it so much, we had breakfast here both Saturday and Sunday during our weekend trip. It is probably a good thing we do not live nearby, because we would get massive from all of the pancakes and sugary treats! If you visit Maple Sugar and Vermont Spice do not pass up the pancakes! I am very particular about my pancakes, and usually prefer more crêpe style thin pancakes, but honestly the buttermilk pancakes at Maple Sugar and Vermont Spice were some of the best i’ve ever had! Also, get a side of the Canadian bacon. You will be glad you did! They have a gift shop with their own maple candy, maple syrup in various sizes to take home, and lots of other Vermont made products. They also make their own maple ice cream, which I plan on trying next time I visit! * During maple syrup season(in the spring) you can grab a cup of freshly made maple syrup down stairs for your pancakes! Buddy the Elf would approve!

I don’t really get all the 5 star reviews on here. First off, if you want the best breakfast in Rutland, go to Johnny Boys, it’s right down the road. The food isn’t horrible here, but it’s not great. We asked people where we should go to breakfast while visiting Rutland and everyone said here. The wait was very long and in a cramped space. Not worth it for the food. Just average. What I really did like about this place was that the owner was standing at the door greeting and conversing with everyone. Very nice guy. I think thats why all the locals recommended it.

We went an hour an a half out of our way after seeing the reviews on Unilocal. Driving from Dartmouth to NYC, we were looking for something quintessential. Sugar & Spice is everything! It’s like Cracker Barrel, being that it has breakfast all day with a country gift shop with treats and souvenirs– without the mass production and cheesiness. It’s like being at a familiar friend or family member’s home — warm welcomes everywhere. And the service really is great. We tipped well over 18−20% because, well although we were obviously tourists, we were treated as family. Great comfort food. My boyfriend had the breakfast sandwich and in my opinion, breakfast sandwiches should only be served on an English muffin or biscuit. I had the pigs in a blanket(the Unilocal pics were so tempting, I knew what I wanted before we pulled into the parking lot. Thank you for the great service and souvenirs!

Really enjoyed coming here while I was in Vermont. I came up for my boyfriend’s brother’s wedding. We arrived a day early to help set up and prepare for the big event. The front desk of the hotel we stayed in recommended we come here for breakfast. Best suggestion ever! The staff here is very friendly. We were greeted and seated immediately after we entered. They followed up with us twice after we got our food. The owner even came up and greeted us as well. The atmosphere was great as well. It has a very rustic feel to it, like you’re eating breakfast in the cabin that you own in the woods. They have seating on the main floor and on the upper level. The basement is the gift shop, which has some pretty cool things. As for the food, it was delicious. I got the minced ham and eggs with onions and peppers. They mixed the eggs with cream or milk, so it was much thicker than I expected. Still very delicious. The home fries were perfect as well. My boyfriend enjoyed his Mexican omelet and his aunt enjoyed her blueberry pancakes. She said the maple syrup is to die for. The coffee here is fantastic as well. I don’t usually drink coffee black, but the coffee didn’t need anything added to it. Overall, had a great meal here. If I’m ever in the area again, I will be back!

YOUHAVENOTLIVEDUNTILYOUHAVEEATENTHEIRMAPLEICECREAM. I don’t even care about sweets and I want to eat their maple ice cream every day. It was gooey, so they put the cones in a bowl. I felt like I wanted to chew it in a good way. Trust me, do it.

Absolutely fantastic! We arrived in Killington on a Friday evening, staying until Monday morning. We were looking ahead for a place to eat breakfast, saw the reviews for this place. We decided to try it out Saturday morning and also then had to eat there Sunday morning and Monday morning. The spice pancakes are the best thing in my opinion on their menu. Their version of the eggs benedict is a close second. The other couple my wife was with loved this place as much as we did. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere, including upstairs and back deck seating as well as a downstairs gift shop. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good and filling breakfast!
