Four Points by Sheraton Memphis East

Rooms are good, comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. Unfortunately, it’s located in between really heavy traffic roads, which makes it a bit stressful to access.

I would give 3.5 stars but, I could only choose a whole number. The hotel is clean and the front desk staff are very friendly. The buffet breakfast is good but, be sure to get in by 9am for the best selection. The room is standard and clean. As another reviewer stated, the HVAC unit is loud. The bathroom is sized okay for one person (at a time) to do what they need to do. You will need to maneuver yourself to get the door closed past the commode (maybe they should have a non-​swinging door instead). The hotel is close to shopping, dining or whatever you want to do in a urban city. I look forward to coming back.

I want to rate this higher because the front desk was so friendly to me when I arrived pretty late at night. He was wonderful. I’m rating it lower based on the age and cleanliness of the room.
I was too tired to switch rooms and was just there to crash a few hours before an early morning meeting so tried my best to look past a toilet seat that was broke loose from the toilet, a dirty headboard, and a older sunk in mattress. I quickly wiped down the headboard and tried to focus on sleep. As other reviews online note, the bathroom is tiny! You have to angle in to shut the door that nearly grazes the toilet.
The area is convenient and safe. The rate was affordable. I chose this room over the Hyatt Place which I had stayed at for similar rate last trip because I am a SPG member and wanted to take advantage of building points on my loyalty account.
I’d like to see a remodel to the building before it would be my first choice in the future.

I had the delight of having a room by the elevator with a view of a giant loud air conditioning unit. The bed was comfortable but makes this weird squeaking noise that is so loud that you can hear it through walls. I paid $ 10 for eggs and fruit for breakfast. The fruit was inedible because it had already started to ferment. The staff was lovely and the room was clean.
As a newly minted traveling salesgirl, I’m on the lookout for a hotel chain to meet my needs. 4 Points may not be it.

I tried to order room service, but even though all of the printed literature in the room said that their kitchen was supposed to close at 10p, when I tried to order at 9.15pm, I was told on the phone that the kitchen had already closed at 9pm.
The sink in the bathroom is blocked because the plug is stuck in the down position.
The door to the bathroom doesn’t actually have space to close if the toilet seat is down, so you can only close the door by opening the toilet, squeezing into the bathroom, then putting the seat down afterwards.
The tiling in the shower is cracked, and (more worryingly) the tiling on the wall doesn’t actually reach the end of the shower, so there is a 1.5″ vertical line of exposed interior wall structure (!)
The bed is ridiculously soft (and I generally like a soft bed).
Showtime is programmed into the television, but is not available and there is no signal on that channel.
When it rained, the cable went out entirely. Luckily it only rained for 15 minutes or so.
The air conditioner is surprisingly loud, difficult to hear anything over it, very difficult to sleep through it, like a car engine level of noise. And the thermostat is completely dysfunctional, so you just have to manually turn on and off the a/​c.
I would be perfectly happy with no frills, but this is just a mess. Very uncomfortable and stressfull (which is not what you want from any hotel). There are too many dilapidated, broken, non-​functional details. They need to spend less money on the clunky furniture and pay your maintenance staff to repair the amenities.

Got a room here through Hotwire. Showed up and there had been a bus load of people dropped off. Although there were at least 20 people checking in in front of us, we were through the line and up to our room in 15 minutes. John W. Checked us in. Super nice, very informative and ensured we had a single king instead of two fulls. The hotel just finished a large renovation and was very comfortable in the lobby. Our room was on the fourth floor corner with great views. Went up to the indoor pool with a couple of drinks and enjoyed the water before we headed to dinner. The bed was very comfortable and the room temp was perfect. Only downside was the cheap toiletries and valet cost. Used to seeing high end toiletries and. most people have a car to the hotel. Valet should be complimentary to guests.

UPDATED– Read Below. Location wise: This hotel is in a bad spot. You only have access to one restaurant that is rather pricey. The shuttle will take you to other nearby places, but keep in mind that this hotel only has one shuttle that is expected to run to the airport and take customers to local shopping and restaurants. MOST IMPORTANTLY, this hotel has awful management. I am a loyal Starwood Platinum member for the last five years and I have never experienced the lack of management skill this hotel exhibits. I waited 55 mins at the airport for the complimentary shuttle service, even though the hotel is only 15 mins away. When I first called, the front desk said it would be 20 – 25 mins bc they were out– I ended up waiting nearly an hour.
When I arrived at the hotel, I made a customer suggestion to a manager that the hotel should consider having two shuttles available, so no customer would ever have to wait such a long time. The manager on duty said that I should’ve called earlier in the day and told them my flight schedule. I have never within the last five years of being a high level Starwood member been asked to make prior complimentary shuttle reservations. The management was nothing short of arrogant and blew off my suggestion.
The driver, Cornelius, had way more customer service skills than anyone working the front desk, or on the management team. Kudos to him and his professionalism.
UPDATE: Before my departure, a front desk clerk pulled me aside and told me that the team met to better determine what they could’ve done better and decided to compensate me by supplying some Starwood points for the inconveniences. The amenity gift and their recognition of the situation was certainly appreciated for waiting outside for nearly an hour on a shuttle, when I would’ve have been at the hotel in half the time using a taxi service already at the airport.

Why is there so much hate here? Our room was clean, the hotel was clean, and we took advantage of the gym. There also is free parking and wifi. This hotel is close to Beale Street and other attractions.
The only reason why it isn’t a 4-​star is because the breakfast is $ 10pp. Lame.

Perfect for business travelers. I had no problems. This seems like a much safer option than some other hotels closer to the airport. Free shuttle which they booked ahead of time to ensure timely departure, newly renovated everything, comfy bed, complimentary bottled water in the rooms, free breakfast. Chris helped me sign up with their rewards program. I was here for work and conducted several interviews in the lobby undisturbed. I will definitely stay here again.

Second time staying at this hotel. I find it very reasonably priced, always very clean and the beds are plenty comfortable.

I had the unfortunate experience of going 18 days without A/​C in the middle of July in Memphis. After days of endless sweat and miserableness, we decided to spend a few nights in a hotel. I was able to book Four Points by Sheraton Memphis East for $ 60 a night on Priceline — not a bad deal! Unfortunately, after we checked in we found the a/​c in our room was broken. Seriously.
The staff was nice enough to move us to another room with a working, but very loud, A/​C unit. I was definitely happy for the cooler temps, but I can see how the noise level could be disruptive to the average guest.
The bed was super soft and comfy, which in my world, is the best thing you can ask for in a hotel. There is a pool on the property that looked decent, but they lock it down tight at 10 p.m.
There is no restaurant connected to the hotel, but River Oaks is right across the parking lot. I think the room service comes from River Oaks, but I didn’t order any so I can’t say that with 100% certainty.
I didn’t experience any of the bugs several other Unilocalers mentioned, but I did notice a lot of old food and trash behind the night stand. Aside from that, our room was pretty clean.
If I needed a hotel in east Memphis, I would book this place again at the reduced priceline rate. I probably wouldn’t pay much more than that though.

Acceptable. Clean, free wifi and parking. Beds are terribly uncomfortable and are doubles, which is just too small. Stayed there over a week ago and the $ 50 incidental hasn’t been released yet, which indicates lazy management since I know my bank always releases those asap. $ 10 breakfast was terrible. Woman who checked me in was incredibly rude.

We stayed at the one on Stansell a couple months ago and it was awesome. So we thought this one would be too but apparently the one on Stansell is newer and the suites location. The Poplar is an older hotel that they gave a facelift to because it’s obvious the elevators are ancient (and not very clean). Beds are ok if you like a firm bed but they don’t have queen beds, only King or two doubles (was expecting queen). When I asked for the St Jude discount, the reservations line said there was not one but gave us some sort of alternative deal that was $ 10 more overall. Breakfast is $ 10 a person for what other hotels in the area give for free. The staff was very nice, one lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and did all she could to get us the lower rate but was not able to change it in the system so she gave me 2 free breakfasts so it worked out.

Okay so I finally got my towels I requested and now I’m in the lobby and apparently there’s this big white cooler filled with bottled drinks which you were supposed to help yourself with but the check in girl never mentioned. In addition, I forgot to mention that upon arrival, I was standing at the podium waiting my turn while a line formed behind me. She approached the podium and yells «who’s next?» Duh? I’m next I say. …(who else would be next? The guy behind me? And besides am I in line at a Mc’Ds? No, good evening, may I help you or Welcome to Four Pts?) what a difference from the Four Pts in Nashville. The next morning we came down at 9:30 am for the $ 10/​pp bkfast and found that they stopped serving at 9! It wasn’t even free. So I decided to get some free coffee, and guess what? The thermos was empty. Not to be swayed, I asked the front desk for coffee and she asked the mgr who instead of filling the thermos, directed me into the kitchen to get some coffee. It seems the managers here don’t take ownership of anything here.

We loved our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even gave us breakfast because it was our wedding weekend. The room was clean and comfortable with great rates.
The only complication we had was the location because we weren’t used to the area and it was hard to get in and back out again. But we will definitely stay here again.

Is not in centrum but for was a good location because I had the car. Good price and good breakfast. Recommended.

Convenient location with decent rates. The room I stayed in has carpet on the floor that needs some remodeling. Air conditioning is constantly running if kept at 70 degrees. The shower head in the bathroom does not work properly.
They had barbecue one day. It is also kind of complicated to get to the hotel, if you are not used to the area.

I’m not sure what the previous reviewer was expecting from a three-​star hotel, but my wife and I stayed here New Year’s Eve night and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well-​kept, clean, has a classy (not-​over-​the-​top) décor (main lobby, hallways, and rooms — ours at least), offers free wifi, has a very large fitness center with modern, fully-​operational equipment, and every member of the staff we came across was friendly and acknowledging. The location is convenient to Beale Street and the downtown Memphis area, and yields no worries about safety when coming and going during the late hours of the night. The hotel didn’t seem too incredibly busy, so no concerns about finding a good parking space; but I’d imagine if it were at full capacity, there might be some. We ended up making a last minute reservation for a single night, so the rate wasn’t the best ($ 119); but for the experience and the limited notice, I’d say it was worth it. We didn’t get a chance to try breakfast since we usually stay out way too late, and wake up way too late the following morning/​afternoon, so I can’t speak on how good a value the $ 9 meal is; however, maybe it’s just us, but it’s like people make or break hotels in reviews based on continental breakfast, and that in itself seems silly. But again, maybe it’s just us…
Bottom line, next time we’re in Memphis for more than a few hours, Four Points will be on our list for convenient and confident places to call temporary home. I think if given the chance, assuming you’re not a crazed breakfast tyrant, you just might enjoy it as well.

This is the typical airport hotel that I don’t like, except that it isn’t an airport hotel. The lobby and common areas aren’t too bad, but the rooms need to be updated. We were told that our room price included a free breakfast, but that was a lie. There were three separate parties in the restaurant who told the waitress that we were told our breakfast was free, but she said that someone was mistaken.
Room service begins around 8:30 on the weekends, which is way too early. I put the card that read «Later please» on the door handle. We received a note under our door that said that we would have to request room service, since we left the note on the door. What does «Later please» mean then?
The lighting in the room was terrible. The bathroom was very small. Apparently, the bathroom tiles were newly installed, since there were penciled measurement markings on the tiles.
The best thing about the hotel was the free parking, free internet and the bed.

Four Points Sheraton Memphis East just barely gets an A-​Okay. Free shuttle from airport and free wi-​fi, are nice, but I didn’t need to use either. A shuttle to Beale Street might be nice! I found service on the phone and in person to vary widely, as some front desk clerks were awesome, and some scattered and unhelpful.
There’s no restaurant or bar, but they do serve a breakfast for $ 9 (didn’t use, just head to the Blue Plate Café, nearby). I found the room to be adequate, with need for improvements. The bathroom door in my room got jammed at the toilet, needing brute force otherwise. The parking lot is policed by nice security guards, so your ride is safe and secure.
This is 17 minutes from Beale, via a circuitous drive on I240. The location is kind of nice, though, as it’s near Germantown, and nicer shops on Poplar Avenue. So your savings from staying on Beale can be spent elsewhere. I would probably stay in this area of Memphis again, but choose another hotel over Four Points Sheraton.
