Einstein Bros Bagels

This is a nice alternative to Starbucks. I came because I received a coupon for a free coffee with no purchase. I was going to Starbucks at first but said why not put this coupon to use. I chose a combination of vanilla hazelnut and cinnamon coffee blends. It’s a cozy environment and free WiFi. I didn’t taste any food today because I had a bagel at home. I do intend to visit again. Oh just to let everyone know the free coffee coupon was on the back of my Kroger (Poplar and Mendenhall) receipt. Last thing I wish they had flavored creamers.

Yummy, hot, toasted bagels and sandwiches, clean restaurant and efficient service. The only complaint is that their coffee is weak and watery. The several times I’ve tried any of their coffees its been lackluster, the dark roast is somewhat OK. I’ll qualify that statement with the fact that I prefer my coffee very strong. I usually get the nova lox with a whole wheat bagel, because they were just made to go together. It’s pretty darn affordable too, compared to Starbucks food; good but pricey for the amount (however their coffee options are WAY better) and Dunkin’ Donuts has never impressed me. They do have two areas of seating, one completely inside and they other with some couches and bigger chairs thats like a covered porch when they open the two wide double doors. Not much of a view since its Poplar but its a nice way to relax, even if just for a minute.

I was so excited when Einstein’s opened in town. I used to bring back dozens of bagels when we’d travel through Atlanta and freeze them because I loved them so much. They have great deals on bagels and drinks, everything is always fresh and my co-​workers love to see me come in with bagels and cream cheese as a special treat. I’ve always had a good experience with the quality of the food and staff.

Quality of food and service were excellent at this Einstein Brothers. I had no idea how spacious this place was just from passing by on Poplar. I adore the inside patio area where you could lounge in a comfy chair in the warm months out of the sun but still get a breeze.
Walking in, I was greeted and took my sweet time looking over everything. I noticed near the to go menus that it said it was OK to take as long as I wanted so I did. I had no idea this place had lunch and quite a few tasty sounding breakfast options other than bagels. They have fresh juice and fruit bowls right near the register.
I ordered my breakfast sandwich (Applewood bacon and egg) and also a baker’s dozen assorted bagels for $ 6 (only on Mondays). I then remembered I needed coffee badly. So I got back in line. A worker handed me my food while I was in line and asked what else I needed. She handed me a large cup for free! And that vanilla hazelnut coffee is goooood!
The pretzel bagel and the everything bagel are my favorites! The only disappointment was the limp and kinda thin bacon on the sandwich. Still very tasty though.

I frequent this Einstein Bros Bagels location often, as it’s on my way to work. My review pertains exclusively to breakfast, as I have not eaten lunch here. EBB offers a $ 3 coffee travel cup, which entitles the purchaser to a $ 1.10 ($ 1.21) refill each visit (free refills in store).
Food:
I typically just stop by for a cup of coffee, which is excellent. While I’m not a coffee aficionado by any stretch, I enjoy their coffee much more than Starbucks’ or Dunkin Donut’s. They offer 4 choices, medium roast (regular and decaf), vanilla hazelnut, and a dark roast. I typically go with the vanilla hazelnut, which is fantastic. I sometimes also get a breakfast sandwich bagel, bacon/​egg/​cheese. It’s a pretty standard breakfast sandwich, just on bagel. The everything bagel is pretty tasty, covered in garlic, onions, poppy seed, sesame seed, etc. Their specialty bagels, such as the spinach and cheese bagel, are also good. Nice shiny outside, chewy on the inside.
Price:
At $ 1.21 (with the refill cup), the coffee is a bargain. Much cheaper than a SBucks and DD cup. Plus, free refills in store without having to be a loyalty member. The breakfast bagels are $ 5, which I think is pricey. However, they do offer a «Buy 6 get 1 Free» card (14% discount) and, Costco sells $ 50 in gift cards for $ 40 (20% discount). If you go often, it’s a good way to save a little $$.
Service:
The speed of service is my biggest complaint. Their staff is nice and courteous, but can also very slow. In the morning I’ve never seen more than one person working the register, despite them having three registers. So, it doesn’t take much to hold up the line, for example, if someone is buying a box of bagels and doesn’t know what types of bagels they want. I find this incredibly frustrating when all I want is a coffee refill (I’ve resorted to just leaving the exact amount of cash on the counter, grabbing my coffee and going).
Ambiance:
I really like the setup of the place. I addition to indoor seating, EBB also has a open air foyer with plenty of seating. If I weren’t always rushing in the morning, I could definitely see myself enjoying breakfast and relaxing there. I imagine it’d be a great place to read/​study.
This has become one of my go to breakfast/​coffee spots. Great coffee, a nice location, and somewhat pricey food that can be discounted. Need to work on service speed. 4 stars.

Yum. Fresh and tasty bagels. Plus great cream cheese and a tasty lox sandwich. Helps give this native New Yorker a taste of home.
They have a nifty seating section that is indoors but opens up to the outside. So you can stay out of the sun but still get fresh air.
Service is fast and friendly and you get a free drink when you check in.

Her: Do you want spinach eggs or spinach leaves cooked in the egg?
Me: However I can get the whole egg. It just says egg whites on my receipt but I would like the whole egg.
Her: [looks at me crazy]
Me: The whole egg. White and yolk. Not just the white.
Her: [looks at me crazy]
Me: You know. An egg. [gesturing, making the shape of an egg:] An egg comes with a yolk and a white.
Her: No. I have egg whites, and I have yellow egg.
Me: [feeling crazy and deciding today isn’t the day for this woman to learn what an EGG is, and I’m not the person to teach her] Yellow egg, probably.

I have to wonder if this young woman had ever seen an actual egg in person. Every time I come here, I have a similar interaction with an employee. They seem very young and inexperienced.
The bagels and food are… ok.
I do like that they have plenty of seating and a neat semi-​outdoor patio space with power outlets.
They’re overpriced for the quality of their service and food. A tea and egg/​cheese bagel with spinach is about $ 7.

This Einstein’s can be pretty hit or miss. They usually have the standard bagels in stock, but sometimes I’ll catch them with some empty trays up there. It’s pretty quick, the coffee is always full and delicious, but the employees don’t seem too happy about having customers. Sometimes I won’t get a greeting and am unsure on whether they’re taking my order or just doing some other task near the register. I’ve rarely gotten an incorrect order at least, but the time it did happen it was pretty bad. (Garlic schmear instead of garden veggie – and without any gum at work — yikes!!!) Just don’t go in expecting a friendly chat with your local bagel maker and it’ll be a fine experience.

You don’t have to be a genius to eat at Einstein’s, but knowing your way around «nosh» helps. This is the closest you’re going to get to real, authentic NYC bagels as you’re going to get in the Mid-​South. The menu is pretty full, but I would avoid everything else but the lox and bagels. The coffee is pretty blah and generic, but otherwise I’d recommend this place. I just wish they’d put out copies of the New York Times to read, like any real nosh place would.

This place has it all! I cannot wait to go back! The bagels are so soft, they almost melt in your mouth. The trouble is there’s so much to choose from! I want to try it all. They also have the special coffees that aren’t just brewed in your everyday pot. Tons of flavors to choose from. I had to start with my mocha latte and a salmon bagel and it was fantastic!

Love that they’ve come to town. This location is really neat, with a hybrid indoor/​outdoor seating area… they have comfortable sofas, power outlets, etc. Very welcoming to hang out to study or to nosh. Bagels can’t compare to real NYC bagels, but what can? They’re still pretty good. Service has run the gamut from friendly and welcoming, to harried and abrupt… it all depends how busy they are. Can’t wait for them to open a location in Collierville.

First place to have the Lid Grabber wish I invented that! So glad Einstein’s has come to Memphis. Staff is friendly, coffee is hot, the chewy warm toasted bagels cannot be beat. I know it’s not H&H in NYC but they are tasty and try the variety of schmear options so gooey and delicious. My toddler enjoyed the cinnamon pastry very light and flaky and different if you do not want a bagel. We will be back to try different combinations next Saturday!

I have gone to all the bagel places that have come and gone in Memphis. I have had the opportunity to go to Einsteins twice this summer because it opens early — I believe 5:30 am. I like the way Einsteins re-​modeled the space, carving out a covered patio in the front. As you open the car you will be treated to the quiet but prominentimemt sounds of light classical music. being an early riser, I appreciate people who can smile and be welcoming early — on both occasions I have been well received and didn’t feel the hint of resentment about being at work.
today, I inadvertently forgot my wallet while trying to get my son to cross country practice. I didn’t realize my error until I was checking out at Einsteins. I was mortified and then shocked when I heard, «don’t worry about it, it happens to us all.» I felt guilty leaving with free bagels. I went back on my way to get my son at practice to pay for my bagels. while I don’t remember the exact words the people behind the counter handled it with the grace and charm of a truely southern gesture. it would have been fine with them if I had never come back to pay, but only order anew. The striking thing is that level of customer service has been lost in all but a few spots, to encounter it in a chain is unheard of — yes I have seen the scripted sort at chick-​fil-​a and others. But this was both spontaneous and genuine. I appreciate the whole concept and will not stray from Einsteins in the future.

This place is great, the bagels are fresh, the coffee is good. Happy I came here, wont be my last time!

Yum… Being from Chicago I love some great bagels … And einsteins is there too. I’ve been a few times and hope this place stays in business since it’s always a little quiet. I ordered a salmon sandwich and it was on a fluffy garlic bagel with lots of. Sorts and a very good amount of salmon. Filled me up and didn’t even eat my side. Took home a dozen bagels for the freezer … They gladly dispense freezer bags. The only wierd thing was that in their dessert case they had a half cookie. ???

So happy there is one in Memphis. Bagels are fresh and staff is friendly. Love the patio they open in nice weather.

I have very fond memories of an Einstein’s chocolate chip bagel with honey butter… but unfortunately, this location didn’t live up to that.
At 7:15am, they were reasonably busy, but the menus were easy to read, the employees were friendly, and my food came out quickly. However, my egg and cheese bagel sandwich on a pretzel bagel was a disappointment. I hate when places put a cold slice of cheese on top of a hot egg, and expect the heat of the egg to melt the cheese. The edges are still cold and slimy, and the whole thing is just gross. Also, I would have preferred American cheese, but all they had was cheddar, and the bagel was kind of chewy, so it was hard to take a bite through the whole sandwich.
Because I’m a glutton (seriously — I eat a lot), I also got a chocolate chip muffin, and that just made me sad. Even though it had been warmed up, it was just dry and blah and the chocolate chips didn’t add anything. I took one bite and ditched the rest. Yuck.
Overall, though this is a nice store, next time I want a quick breakfast, I’ll stick with Dunkin Donuts.

Come for the bagels and coffee, avoid the other stuff.
Employees are definitely still being trained and it can show. I had a great experience when a lady behind the counter offered some suggestions for spreads on my bagel, but ringing things up can be a bit confusing and bringing things out can also be a hassle.
Bagels have been good, as expected, and though a bit pricey I do like that you can get pretty generous spreads on them (my least favorite part of bagels is doing the spread myself). Very unimpressed with the sandwiches and eggs though – I think I’ll just stick to what they do best.
The surprise here though was their coffee – it’s actually pretty darn good for the most part and they’re happy to let you get unlimited refills from a nice variety of flavors. It ain’t craft coffee, but it’s better than Starbucks for sure and their free wifi makes this a nice place to hang out for awhile as you munch on your bagel.

We went in for lunch on a Sunday. Place was packed. I got the BBQ chicken panini and the wife got the turkey-​cranberry panini. They were both good. I liken this chain to a cross between Panera and McAlister’s (both of which I like very much). The bagels looked very good and we’ll be back to try later.

Got a bakers dozen bagels w/​cream cheese and 6 pastries for the office last week. The pastries were just OK, but the bagels were very good. Service was awkward, confusion run amuck at the checkout. Should get better with time. Nice discounts this opening week. 2 things they should do — * under the bakers dozen cost that if you want say spinach, jalapeño, specialty bagels, they’re +.50c each, and, * under the 6 pastry selection that it’s a preset selection, you can’t pick.
