VCVC Cupcakes

I contacted VCVC Cupcakes only 1 week before an event where I was hoping to get 50 cake-​pops. Cathy is nothing short of amazing! I dont know what was better-​her ever so sweet self or the deliciously yummy cake-​pops. Sorry Cathy, Im gonna have to say the cake-​pops! :) They were as yummy and looked as fancy as any Newbury Street/​high end store, and she does them out of her house! Amazing! They were perfectly made and were a huge hit! I def plan on using VCVC again for all our party needs.

These cupcakes are amazing. Moist with creative frosting and designs, Cathy does great work. Three words: Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes. SO GOOD!
We’ve ordered both cupcakes and a red velvet cake. Excellent quality. The one item I had bought that was dry, she apologized profusely for and replaced.
So glad to have found her online and will be coming back again and again.

The cupcakes are delicious, creative, and look as good as they taste. They aren’t cheap, but the effort and quality ingredients that clearly goes into each cupcake shows.

Sadly, very underwhelmed. I purchased an Eversave for a dozen cupcakes for only $ 4 thanks to some Save Rewards I had. Each cupcake sells for $ 3, or $ 36/​dozen, so for me it was quite the bargain. I called to place my order and Cathy was excellent over the phone and really took the time to get the details of the event and what I was looking for. Excellent customer service.
Sadly the product just didn’t match up. First of all, they were extremely small. I’ve had cupcakes from Kickass in Somerville (which aren’t very good either), Crumbs and Magnolia in New York and Georgetown Cupcakes in DC. I’m aware the new «gourmet cupcake» craze means they focus more on decoration than size. I also know the size of Crumbs, Magnolia, and Georgetown doesn’t compare to VCVC. This is a one woman shop and I’m sure she pours her heart into each order. The biggest disappoint was the actual cake, which clearly makes the cupcake. The cupcake was very very dry and honestly tasted like it came from a Duncan Hines box. It had the consistency of that one last cupcake that’s been sitting on your counter for a week and a half and you just eat it to get rid of it. A big unfortunate disappointment.
Visually speaking, she definitely does put some time into these cupcakes. One suggestion would to do the layered frosting on all of the cupcakes. They’re small to begin with, and at $ 3 per cupcake, I think this would make it a little bit more worth it.
Overall disappointed in the product as a whole. Hopefully she can work out the recipe kinks and find a way to make a better cake.

Can’t say enough about VCVC Cupcakes. Were to begin? I orderred a dozen Red Velvet Cupcakes to send to a friend. They are still raving about them. Delicious! Customer Service is spectacular! Kathy is full of great ideas! I’m already on her Facebook page looking at her pictures to see what to order next! You will not be disappointed!

I tried these cupcakes with an Eversave coupon. Although Cathy is very nice and provides great service, I was disappointed with the actual cupcakes. They looked good and were decorated nicely, but they just didn’t taste very good. The main cupcake part was a bit dry and not that flavorful. The chocolate cupcakes didn’t taste or look like they had any chocolate in them. The frosting tasted like straight sugar, as opposed to rich and creamy goodness.
I have had other gourmet-​ish cupcakes (like Kickass in Somerville), so I had high expectations. Even with the 50% discount, I was disappointed with the product — I would have been pretty upset had I paid full price.

Nothing special — got them on an eversave coupon and I would hope that I got the discounted version of an upscale cupcake cause I would have hated to have paid the full ticket price for what I got. Go to Kickass if you want something special and gourmet — these, I could have made myself.

Found Cathy and her cupcakes through an eversave coupon, emailed her before the coupon was even available, made plans for some gluten free cupcakes, and went back and forth about some gluten free stuff (I did not know some sanding sugar is not gluten free!)!
The Cupcake: Basic chocolate gluten free cupcake, but the thing that made this the tops was the icing. Oh the happy happy happy sugar coma frosting. Sweet. Thick. Buttery. Happy. I loved it. I’m afraid I’m going to eat them all.
The Customer Service: If there is something that can be above the frosting (I did not think it was possible — but it was!) — it was the customer service! Cathy emailed back and forth with me to come up with ideas to deal with the gluten-​free issue, worked with my schedule for pickup, and had stuff ready and waiting for me. She was WONDERFUL — and bent over backwards making some gluten free sanding sugar colors for me! Yeah!

I recently used Unilocal to find a good place to get cupcakes made for a Bachelorette Party/​Spa day I was hosting. I found VCVC, and realized it was literally less than 5 minutes from my house (a huge plus when you have no time to pick everything up for the party on the day of). I emailed Cathy about what I wanted and within a few hours got a call back. She was so nice, and had great ideas about what would look good with the theme and colors I needed. We arranged a pick-​up time and she was ready and waiting with beautiful blue cupcakes just as I had ordered. They were a huge hit at the spa luncheon, and we even ate the leftovers later that evening after a night out in Boston. Everyone commented on how pretty they were (they each had a navy blue fondant M on top and blue sprinkles with sky blue icing, the bride’s wedding colors) and how good they tasted. I just placed my second order with Cathy for a Birthday party. I am confident they will be just as good the second time around! It is also so great to support a local business and a woman who seems to truly love what she does.

I have gotten VCVC Cupcakes twice. The first time was for my three year old’s birthday. She wanted a Tinkerbell Party. I had no concrete idea of what I wanted, but just mentioned the theme. They came and were glorious! My daughter absolutely loved the Tinkerbell shoes, flowers, and sparkles on top of her party cupcakes!
The second time I ordered it was for my sister when we moved her into college in September. I ordered her favorite flavor cupcake and icing, and left the rest to VCVC! They came with blue and gold (Suffolk University’s colors) books on top with great detail!
I am really impressed with the professional staff, and 100% PERSONALIZED service. Whether you know exactly what you want, or have absolutely no clue, I think that they can probably nail it!
