Nosh & Ganache

This is a great place. The short ribs are extremely tender (falling off the bone) and flavorful. One of us had crab cakes, and one had the mahi-​mahi. Both fish were great, but nothing is as good as those short ribs!
Desserts are also special, as you would expect at a restaurant with the word ganache in the name.
The service and ambiance are also fabulous. We had fresh flowers and candles at the table, everything was impecable.

Nosh & Genache came under high recommendation so the expectations were very high. While the expectation with the food were met, the service left MUCH to be desired.
While i understand that it was not a normal day, an art fair was running in the street and the outdoor hot dog and beer stand was working over time, I felt as if those paying customers inside the restaurant were left to sit and wait… and wait… and wait. I really don’t understand what takes so long and so much concentration to serve a hot dog and a beer? There was in my opinion plenty of staff, including a woman just standing behind the chocolate counter just waiting for customers. I am a server myself and i understand what it is like to be in the weeds with tables in all different sections, but there is nothing more important than the time between clearing the plates from the entrée, asking about dessert and getting the check on the table if dessert is not desired. That wait time can make or break a tip, because this is when the customer is done, has nothing left to do but pay up and leave. I wanted to go. It took about 15 minutes to do so, even putting cash out on the table, which I would never do in a place like this.
That all being said the food here is all it was cracked up to be, even at lunch. While a little pricey for lunch and the area, the food was superb. From the fresh baked bread that accompanied my Cabernet Cottage Pie to the complimentary truffle (i got the chocolate fudge volcano) that came after the meal. The food did take a while, but it was so fresh and warm it did not matter. I knew my dish would take a while, so i know that wasn’t the server’s fault, but the one thing she did do right was apologize for the women next to us getting their food before ours (they had quiche, and there’s no way that can be made to order).
So, yes, I am going to give Nosh & Genache the benefit of the doubt of it being a busy day in and outside of the restaurant, and i will be back there again most likely for dinner. I would do lunch there again as well, but make sure there isn’t a street fair going on at the same time.
One other note: The chocolate case is in the dining room, and at time the line to buy was to the door… kind of tacky as well. If this were to happen during dinner I would be very upset, but again, i will mark this up to the street fair.
