Discount Tire Store – McKinney, TX

So unfortunately I ran over a nail… thanks Dallas… and needed a repair. I was very worried I would have to get a new tire, and especially annoyed that the car is brand new…
But Discount Tire offers a free patching service so long as the tire can be repaired. Made my appointment online, they were done in less than an hour. There’s a nice little window in the waiting area where you can watch the cars, the folks were professional and hard working. I wasn’t upsold or given any grief for my free service.
Even with my massive bias against everyone and everything in the car industry, I was treated well here. I’ll be buying my next set of tires from Discount Tire for sure.

Nobody WANTS to get new tires, but there is no where I would rather go. Barry and the group are always so courteous and patient. They have even repaired tires at no charge! Whenever we need new tires, there is only one place for us!

I own 7 vehicles. I ONLY use Discount Tire Company. I’ve had 4 sets of custom wheels and tires from them. They take care of my out of town college kids vehicle tires. They are the best at all locations.

Needed to replace all 4 tires on my car so I started looking around. Walmart had $ 125 per tire in stock and could order me some $ 115 per tire if I wanted to come back. Firestone tried to sell me $ 126 per tire and didn’t want to tell me there were other options until I started to walk out the door. Then they offered me $ 97 per tire but I don’t like the way Firestone treats me, so I left. Goodyear didn’t have anything in stock so they printed out some options starting at $ 190 per tire. What the hell, Goodyear?
Finally I called Discount Tire. They didn’t have anything in stock for same day service, but said they could get some $ 93 per tire in my size (I have a sports car which is why my tires are a little more expensive than some, but not as bad as a truck or anything) by the next morning, first thing.
I docked them a star for not calling me to tell me they had arrived like they said they would, I just showed up and hoped they were there. Took about 50 minutes from the minute I showed up to get the tires on. There were quite a few other people there before me. The waiting room had bottles of water and coffee and was pretty bland, but there were enough seats. If there hadn’t been anyone else waiting, it probably would have taken under 15 minutes.
Of the places I tried in the area, they had the best price, so that’s why they got my business.

Always buy tires for my two cars here. Best prices (even compared to Walmart) service is friendly and swift. FYI buy the insurance, it’s worth it.

I always have a good experience at Discount Tire. One of my tires blew out last Friday, so Saturday we went to DT and purchased a full set of new tires. Great, quick service. They were done in less than an hour. I also like that they will patch tires for you for free.

I called and made an appointment on a Thursday with NTB in Allen to look at my RV tires for warranty reasons. Since my appointment was late in the day, I assumed (correctly) that they would not be able to get hold of Michelin. Therefore, I would have to bring my RV back to get the tires replaced, but at least they got the information they needed to contact Michelin.
The manager, Brad, was supposed to call me back Friday. Since he hadn’t called, I called back on Saturday and spoke with him. He had not contacted Michelin yet. He called me back later. We set up an appointment for the following Wednesday. I asked him to check stock. He didn’t have enough in stock, but said he would have some by my appointment.
I called back on Tuesday to verify that he had the tires. Brad said that he would check and call me back. He didn’t.
I called Wednesday before taking my RV to NTB (takes about $ 20 in gas for a round trip to the storage place, NTB and back home). Brad doesn’t work on Wednesday. The manager on duty, Chris, had no record of any appointment. He also didn’t have enough tires. The best he could do was to get some tires in by Friday.
Since the work had to be done between 9am and 4:30pm during the week (only time that Michelin could authorize the work), I had taken the day off of work to do this. Needless to say, I was furious.
I called Discount Tire in Mckinney, and spoke with Barry, the manager. I explained what had happened and he jumped into high gear. They didn’t have enough tires in stock, so he got my information and said he would call me back as soon as he could find some. Thirty minutes later, he had found some and was having them shipped to his store ASAP. By the time I got there forty minutes later, the tires were there and they were ready for me. Discount Tire, specifically Barry, went above and beyond what anyone could expect. I have three cars plus and RV and all of them will be using Discount Tire in McKinney (the Eldorado location) for their next set of tires.

All 4 tires on my Honda are Costco babies — I get them all at the same time, because Costco rotates and balances them for free, and each time they do so, they automatically inspect the tread. If the tread is too low, they will not rotate & balance them, period. I trust them. A few days after Costco rotated & balanced them (and told me that I have enough tread left to not worry for at least 6 months), I had a flat near my home in Mckinney. I changed to the Stepney, and took the tire to Discount. After waiting 4 minutes in line, I was greeted by an employee, whose attitude was treading the thin line between professional and snobbish. I took him out to the boot of my car where the flat tire was there. He looked at it (rather glanced at it), touched it for 2 seconds, and then shook his head. He said, «nope, cannot fix the flat, as its tread is too low. you have to buy a new tire from us» I was astonished, and was tempted to bring my knowledge of tire tread and safety to the forefront, but I thought — why confront? This guy needs to sell tires, that’s how he earns a living. But he is surely dishonest, not to mention condescending. I do not know whether all employees in this Discount Tire are like him, but I knew I had to avoid this place. I drove to Costco, had it fixed, and 6 months later, I am still driving on the same wheels, with Costco’s calm assurance behind them :)

I highly recommend scheduling an appointment via the Discount Tire website ahead of time to ensure prompt service and to ensure that they have the tires that you want in stock. I arrived a few minutes prior to my scheduled appointment and was promptly greeted by the manager who checked my car and totaled my bill. Ten minutes later my car was in the shop getting new tires and thirty minutes later I was out the door.
The only problem I had was that one of the employees who worked behind the counter was extremely rude to the other employees who actually installed the tires. He would snap at them over the loud speaker and open the door to the garage and yell at them. However, he was very polite to the customers, but I found this very off-​putting.

I got my tires replaced here yesterday. I have no idea about tires. The manager took time to explain my options and the difference between each option. I chose one and set an appointment. I read the reviews for the option on my phone just to make sure and they were good.
They also offer a good warranty and replacement service. It’s not pro-​rated. So the value doesn’t go down after use. For a $ 900 investment, I would suggest taking the warranty.
Also make an appointment online if you can. Saves quite a bit of waiting
