NYPD Queens Impound Lot

I cannot give it beyond a 3-​star rating either. There’s no public transportation that goes there directly. Don’t even try taking the B24, it’ll take you to Brooklyn before it’ll get you near the impound lot in Maspeth! Get off at 46^th Street — Bliss Street (IRT Flushing Line) aka 7 train. Bring lots of supplies (water, food, etc) and hike it the rest of the way. You’ll soon lose sight of civilization but don’t worry, that means you’re on the right path. GPS is a must otherwise, you’ll never get there. Please spare yourself the trek and trouble, hail a cab to take you there. It’s absolutely worth it!
Once you arrive, there’s no sign of a building so you walk aimlessly around the fenced-​in perimeter until a police officer stops you and tells you to walk back around the block to get in. What? But there it was– behind a jungle of weeds the height of a 2^nd grader and through a gap/​hole in the fence was their «entrance.»
Walk up the wooden ramp that leads you to a NYPD trailer. Inside is fantastic in comparison, lots of cold, refreshing A/​C and nice chairs to sit on while you wait for your name to be called. Customer service is not picky, they accept ALL forms of payment (including AMEX!) Take your receipt of payment and bring it to the NYPD traffic officer waiting outside the trailer, he or she will drive you directly to your car. 10 minutes later, you are on your merry way. Treat yourself to a nice lunch in Sunnyside afterwards.

Apparently that glorious spot right next to the restaurant was a no parking zone. Oops.
Have you been to Maspeth? 90% of the neighborhood is either a UPS warehouse, a factory, or a place to find scrap metal. Even so, this reached a new level of shady.
But, aside from fighting with a cab driver to get here, this was actually a totally painless process. I walked in, told them my plate number, paid the egregious $ 185 fee, and within 5 minutes I was driven to my car. Everyone was friendly and joking around and there was no hassle.
I refuse to give an impound lot more than 3 stars on principle, let alone one located in a post-​apocalyptic war zone. But this was as easy as could be given the circumstances.
