Walking into Harrahs(or the now new Hollywood casino) and this cliché restaurant was staring right at me. We went her to get a few cheap(er) beers before heading to the Little Big Town concert. The bartenders were pretty quick to get us menus and drinks. The beef tacos were amazing. The lime blanco gave it the perfect zing to the spicyness of the taco. I’m a fan of corn tacos so this was the perfect match for me. The only reason I thought this place was a tad vain was the Sammy Haggar’s face everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. I was half scared to go to the bathroom and find ol’ Sammy around my back. I’d go back for the food. Great staff and nice little bar.

Such a disappointment, I wanted to like this place however was let down. This is nothing more than a bar with Sammy’s namesake. However it does not take much when looking at all the other locations which are mostly located inside airports(Las Vegas, New York, Maui) I think the only real location outside a casino or airport is in Roseville, CA. I am only speaking for the food here which was comparable to an Applebees, however more expensive. I didn’t get to experience any of the drinks might be able to salvage the experience, so I might have to return and at least order some Cabo Wabo to see if that can help improve my overall rating. If you are staying at the Hotel or visiting the Casino, I would skip Sammy’s Beach Bar and Grill.

meh… the enchilada soup was warm with a huge dollop of cold sour cream. It was one of the grossest looking dishes I have ever seen(actual taste was ok) When I sent it back with a suggestion that the cook take a look(is this what it is supposed to look like?) The suggestion came back to order it with the SC on the side next time(as if). pinot grigio is not a red wine the place has no bathroom. through the bar, outside the restaurant, than 100 feet down the hall. hopefully there is one that the staff can use that is closer burgers were huge and quite tasty. they were very nice about fixing the problems

Meh. The food was nothing special here. I guess if you go in knowing that it’s basically mediocre bar type food then you will not be disappointed. I will say that their happy hour pitchers for $ 5.55 are a nice deal, but I wouldn’t bother with the food again.

Went here recently to have dinner. They are doing some renovations next door so it kind of looks uninviting to walk through the bar to eat at the dinning area. I had my daughter so I was not sure where the dinning area was and didn’t want to take her through the bar just to find out there was more bar but I braved through it and low and behold I saw the hostess. The staff is really nice. We were seated immediately and everyone was spread out which was nice. I don’t really feel like eating too close to people if I know there is more than half of the restaurant open. They did not have much of a menu because of the Steakhouse renovation, they had their menu in addition to Sammy’s. So you had a choice of pricey steaks or bar and grill food. It’s very clean and nice with an open floor plan. I would like to come back when renovations are done so there is less confusion about appeal going on. I had the Ahi sliders with sweet potato fries… it was oh so good. Highly recommend that for small eaters. My daughter had plain fries and they were pretty good considering they weren’t loaded with cheese or chilly.

My family Isn’t very adventurous but we are at Sammy’s restaurant eating gumbo, mahi major, Wasabi burgers, and much more. Flavor is good, excellent music, and great customer service.

Excellent place to go at Casino or before a Concert at Riverport. Drinks are great, atmosphere is fun, food is generally very good and the service is friendly. If their service was more consistently FAST, I’d give them one more star. When we go here before concerts, about once a week, you may get food in 10 minutes or 30 minutes. Time is of the essence when you are trying to catch a concert. The Sammy Hagar vibe is great and his drink menu has some real winners-many with tequila. Great videos playing on the TVs and good food at reasonable prices. Sammy’s is good, casual fun food – with great drinks. Nothing fancy, but great before a concert or night at Harrah’s.

I don’t even know what to say… I was so pleasantly surprised that I had such an awesome experience at Sammy’s! I always thought it was a pretty tacky place and probably served so-so bar food, but I don’t know, you guys… the dinner I had here was awesome. I can see this place sticking around for a long time & adding a fun variety to the restaurant/bar scene at Harrahs. I love, love, love casinos and we were feeling a low key dinner before some gambling, so we wandered into Sammy’s in search of… uhh… I actually don’t really know what we were in search of, but whatever it was, we found it! There was an awesome live singer in the corner of the restaurant which was fun, and we sat at the bar and ordered up some drinks. I have a thing for skinny margaritas and the bartender made me the PERFECT one, second only to the one I had at Rosalita’s downtown. The bartender was super nice and on top of everything, and later brought us out some chips, salsa, and guacamole. The salsa & guac were SO fresh and we kept eating it until it was gone… and then we got more… and then more. Okay, moving on… I ordered the tacos as my entrée and it just got better from there. In front of me, I had three corn tortillas filled with spicy beef and served with chipotle aioli, lime blanco, roasted corn salsa, lettuce, pico de gallo, and jalapeño bacon refried beans. Ohhhh dear God it was delicious. Those tacos paired with my perfect skinny margarita was enough to send me into food paradise for a brief moment. The wings with cucumber wasabi & chili lime sauce are amazin’. The chili is even more amazin’. It’s all really spicy, so be ready. Sammy’s is fun and apparently has stepped up its service standards. The only thing I really could do without is the repeating DVD’s of Sammy Hagar pictures playing on the TV’s 24⁄7. I mean, really? «Oh look, there’s Sammy in the ocean! Now there’s Sammy posing on a railroad track. Oh, now that Sammy is rockin’ on a stage somewhere.» It’s ridiculous, I tell ya! The cardboard cutouts of him in there are pretty funny too. Awesome!

Went out tonight looking for something different, had a coupon for Sammy Haggar’s at Harrahs. It really is more of a bar, but looked promising, but looks were a bit deceiving. The hamburger was $ 11 and was really not good, undercooked. NOT a fresh made burger, a pre-formed patty and like I said undercooked. Tried the Ahi Tuna sliders, those were over cooked, and they redid them with the same result.(Tuna has to be rare to be great) These were well done. Fortunately, I had a coupon for ½ off and that was some comfort. The sweet potato fries were awesome as was the honey mustard. I will go back to try again, but I will NOT be getting either the Tuna or the Burger.

I must disagree with the two previous reviews. I stop by Sammy’s Beach Bar and Grill about twice a month or so and never have had a problem. I like Sammy Hagar(not a rabid fan) and I also like Jimmy Buffet(and have visited my share of Margarittavilles) and really feel that you cannot compare the two. If you have ever listened to both of their music I believe this would be apparent. The wait staff and bartenders are more than happy to make your margarita any way you want, if it is not up to your standards, send it back. They will gladly replace it. The servers and staff are one of the best things about Sammy’s. If you need anything, just ask. I have gone in with my husband and with my entire family and received the same great service each time. The appetizers ARE the star of the show here. The nachos(be sure to add chicken and pork) are huge and quite good. The smokin’ hot Mad Anthony’s chicken wings are the bomb(the servers will warn you, they are really hot but delicious). The sweet potato fries offer a great cool down to rest your palate on in between those wings. I don’t see the appetizers being the highlight of my dining experience as a negative when two of us can make an entire meal out of three of them(add drinks and still walk out the door for less than $ 45!). The best part of Sammy’s is that the Hagar Foundation donates the proceeds of the restaurant to Blessings in a Backpack that help to feed under privileged children in St. Louis. I do agree the atmosphere is not very«beachy» but I don’t mind knowing that my decorating dollars went to fill a backpack with food for a kid that was hungry. It’s a great cause and the good food and fun make it an easy way to give a little something back to the local community. If you are looking for fine cuisine, go to Annie Guns. If you are looking for fun, go to Sammy’s.

After a trip to Playa Del Carmen, and of course Margaritaville this year, upon my return to St. Louis I immediately longed for the beach, hoping to find a way to re-immerse myself in Caribbean type surroundings, and vibes. But, how to do that? After pondering this for a bit I decided the best way to accomplish the task would be to escape to a place that was rumored to be like Margaritaville in the Caribbean. Much to my chagrin though, Sammy’s couldn’t live up to Jimmy’s place … not by a long shot. To be honest, Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill is nothing like Margaritaville, so I shouldn’t compare them, but when a place is touted as a «beach bar and grille» and is advertised similarly to Margaritaville, how can I not compare and contrast the two? The problems I have with Sammy’s are as follows: –The menu is tiny! With a total of 8 appetizers, 1 salad, 2 soups, 4 sandwiches, and 4 entrees, it’s seriously lacking in choices. I was very surprised and disappointed by this. –They lack a good house margarita. Of course they have the Wabo ‘Rita, but a Wabo ‘Rita does not a margarita make. When I attempted to order a margarita from my server, she looked at me and said, openly … I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s not very good. We have people send them back all of the time. *insert Scooby Doo … RWHAT?* here. No tasty house margarita at a beach bar? Are you kidding? I should have left then and there. All self-respecting beach bars should have a killer margarita. Margaritas = beach = mood setting = fun. –Their food just isn’t that good. I ordered the burger, and it was ok, but I’ve had better at several places in St. Louis, not to mention outside of the states. It just wasn’t what I hoped it would be. My dining companion ordered the Crispy Pescado Mahi Mahi(aka fish and chips). He was somewhat pleased with the dish, but not completely. It wasn’t over the top, but had a good flavor. The appetizer(Scrimshaw Onion Rings) that I ordered were tasty, I’ll admit. However, for the price, we weren’t given many. Onions are cheap, so why so stingy, Sammy? That aside, it’s a problem when the appetizer is the highlight of one’s dining experience. The prices were okay, and pretty typical of a meal for two in a sit down restaurant. The service was decent, not over the top, not bad. The atmosphere wasn’t very beachy. Situated in the middle of a casino, it feels like it’s in the middle of a casino, and there wasn’t a single moment when I felt like I was sitting on a beach, or even a fake, restaurant beach. In the words of Wendy from South Park … it did not«please and sparkle.» I won’t be back. I’ll save my pennies instead for another trip to the Caribbean, and a visit with Mr. Buffet, please.
