Blue White Grill

This place has been here forever — since the 40’s or 50’s I believe. I was told about it by a woman who said both her mother and grandmother had worked there and that she had great childhood memories of it. Went there for an early dinner with my best friend and we both got burgers, fries and cole slaw. Plenty of coffee too. The waitress was wonderful and the food was great. I’m not normally a fan of diners but I really liked this little place.

Great food! Went here for the first time Saturday for lunch. Very friendly staff. Will be going back.

I came for a diner breakfast, I was not disappointed! I had the southern scramble, he got Uncle Tom bowl. Couldn’t finished it, the portions were generous and prices right.

Best breakfast in town. Blue White’s cooks make the best, most-​crispy-​skinned scrapple ever. Eggs over easy are perfectly runny in the yolk without liquid whites. The sausage gravy has taste, personality, and color. The waitstaff is attentive and quick, the prices are good, and the FL breakfast food is exactly what you’d expect.

If your looking for a luxury establishment with Michelin Star food, you won’t find it here. What you will however is good home cooked food with great service and staff. It is rather small with about 10 +/​-​tables and a counter that seats 4 – 6 people, but it is clean and well kept.
My wife and I went there for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. We sat at the counter and ordered scrambled eggs w/​cheese, home fries, scrapple, toast and drinks and if I recall the bill was $ 20ish. The food was really good and our glasses were never empty. The staff is very friendly with terms like honey and sweetie flying around.
This was our first time their having lived in Martinsburg for about 10 years and really sad that we hadn’t tried it sooner.

Diamond in the rough!!! Great food and service. The Oreo laced pancakes were fabulous. The ham and cheese omlette was loaded with nice chunks of good quality ham. $ 25 bucks out the door including a 25% tip was a bargain. We will def be back!

I’ve been here twice and both times it was delicious. I had crab soup which was maybe the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant and their apple dumplings are yummy. Service is wonderful and as quick as possible with the large lunch crowds.

Food — reasonable and at a good price. Service — responsive and kind. Ambiance — 50s-​style corridor with a persistent smell. Not fragrance, not a smell like food or cleaning product, a smell like old-​meets-​musty-​meets-​dirty that had me want to leave as quickly as I could. Too bad too, the spot has promise.

Got take out today! Burgers were very good! Next time I hope to get a slice of one of those delicious looking pies.

Love it — great diner atmosphere. Great diner food. Quality and fresh food. Slaw is rocking all homemade from the slaw to the desserts. The desserts are incredible. Come hungry. If you looking to step back in time and visit and eat at an authentic diner. This is the place. The breakfast is great and so are the lunch plates. Friendly staff and very polite. And the cost is right on. So go in and enjoy. You will be pleased with the food, atmosphere and service.

Love this place… never a bad meal. Usually come for lunch and get a sammy of some sort. Their burgers are fresh, hand-​patted meat, on yummy soft buns. Definitely nothing fancy, but the place (although old) is kept clean and the wait staff are fast and friendly.

Just good basic diner food. Never anything spectacular but I’ve also never gotten anything here I haven’t liked. We usually stick to the patty melt, hamburgers and various sandwiches and we are never disappointed. Sometimes the cast of characters in the restaurant is a little strange since it is right in the middle of downtown Martinsburg but the food is always worth it.

I’ve lived in Martinsburg for about 13 years and had never eaten here until the other day.
I had one of the «scrams», which consisted of eggs, biscuits, gravy, and potatoes and some other goodies. The food was fine, and reasonably priced.
However, the smell upon entering was SO GROSS. It smells like a dirty bathroom mixed with used mop water. It was almost unbearable. Apparently it’s been that way for a long, long time because my mother mentioned that as the reason she won’t eat there, and her friend who does eat there also has talked about it. Everything *seemed* reasonably clean and the food was decent, but the smell is bizarre. Maybe they have mold or something. Who knows. Not sure if I will be back… there’s a lot on the menu I’d try, but the smell… wtf.

I have been to the blue and white twice now and both times it was excellent! I love the atmosphere and the customer service is amazing! I am very new to town so my first visit was for breakfast amidst a house search. I was delighted to walk in and see a real diner with rock n roll pics on the wall. I opened the menu and was surprised to see a dish called the sergeant peppers (I absolutely LOVE the Beatles). So I ordered it and was completely satisfied. My next visit was for dinner after my family and I moved here which was equally as pleasing! The whole family loved it and we have decided to make it our once a week eat out spot. I would recommend this diner to anyone that likes excellent food, great customer service, laid back atmosphere and fair prices! Enjoy!

Yuck. The food was tasteless … I had the downtowner (chili dog and hamburger) no taste :(

Real food, real people. A place with big portions, hot coffee and where everyone is called «Hon». The kind of place where you eat what is put in front of you. Had the veggie omelet which was a little greasy but still good. ESPN on the TV, Foghat on the stereo and a steady stream of locals.

A nice basic diner breakfast. We were looking for a place to get breakfast before a day of geocaching, and the Blue and White served that function just fine — eggs sausage, potatoes, toast. Nothing special, but nothing bad. If you are coming from out of town and looking for a place to get breakfast in Martinsburg, you can’t go wrong with the Blue and White.

Just ate here today during a lull while railfanning out at Martinsburg (for you railfans; there’s a train station walking distance from the restaurant if you want a place to eat).
First off, it is a cross between a greasy spoon and a 1950’s style diner, just so you know what you’re walking into.
I ordered the Philly Burger w/​a chocolate milkshake. Both of them were very good (the milkshake was better). The wait staff was very friendly and I did not feel rushed out the door. The milkshake definitely had some terrific, rich flavor and there was still some extra left over (any place that serves the «left over» of a milkshake already gets a decent review).
The burger had some nice flavor too. A healthy helping of mushrooms, peppers, and a nice zest of cheese, but the patty was a bit small, and the bun was a little mushy, but it really was a nice treat, but I ordered some fries, but they were very bland. Next time I’ll try their soups, I hear their soups are very good.
Since breakfast is served all day, it’s certainly an added bonus as to why to go there. Next time I go railfanning in the area I will definitely be back here. For $ 10 for lunch, this was a great deal!
Note: The location is a bit tricky to get to since the sign isn’t the easiest to find, and parking can be a hassle considering it is in downtown Martinsburg. Fortunately I went on President’s Day so it was free to park, but either leave your car at the train station and walk, or leave it at nearby public parking areas. Go Mo-​Fri, and you’ll have to pay the meter. Weekends are free.

We went here after reading Unilocal reviews and only on one other occasion have the reviewers led me so astray (see Chillicothe, Ohio for a «Mexican» restaurant that is truly bad but apparently beloved by locals). Despite a very friendly waitress and very clean interior we found the food to be either over-​seasoned or complete bland. The sautéed mushrooms were so over-​spiced we could not taste anything but chili powder. The corn? Bland. The salmon cakes? Tasteless. We enjoyed the location (downtown Martinsburg) and the clientele (a lot of local men who look like they could use some kindness and conversation). But the food that we had? No so much. The crab soup was so salty we could not finish it. Oh dear, dear, dear.

Great 1950’s style diner, and not in the fake Johnny Rockit’s style, but just because it’s old and established…
I had a basic party melt and loved it! Everyone I went with said it’s a great place for breakfast as well… I’ll let you know more about that another time.
