The man who is always working is so nice and always makes sure my order is correct. Today I went to pick up some food for me and my boyfriend(who’s very sick&hungry). I ordered a bean and rice burrito and a burrito of asada. Mind you I ordered in Spanish just to make sure there was no misunderstandings. I get home and my boyfriends burrito is beans and cheese. If I wanted beans and cheese I could’ve gone to Taco Bell or something. I should’ve asked her to repeat my order but oh well now I know.

Quality has gone down with the prices going up. Rice no longer had carrots or potatoes like before. Burrito portions are alot smaller.

Well if you are looking for a extra large burrito you found the place. It looks like a duraflame log it is so big. I love the fact they use a lot of cilantro, which makes the burrito seem extra fresh. I would recommend not eating breakfast before going there for lunch because the burrito will fill you up.

The Carnitas Torta is fantastic. If I drive by and smell the meat cooking, I *have* to pull in and order one. The staff are always really friendly and totally cool if you have to customize your order a little(I’m really picky.) I’ve had a few bad experiences though, mostly in terms of slow service. Why have a drive-thru if not to cater to those who don’t have time to stop? I usually make a habit of bringing a book or loading up a decent phone game in preparation for the wait when i stop here. More than once, it’s taken me 25+ minutes to get my food. That said, I’m still coming back on the regular because I am hooked on their tasty food.

It’s a taqueria. It has good taqueria food. Last time there I got a chicken chimi. The cheese was just oozing out of it!

I’m only giving it two stars because the girl at the drive thru is a very impatient person. We come here a lot and the people are usually nice. They don’t give you good potions on your meals. The prices have gone up. The cheese in the enchiladas is not even melted. And most of the time your food is cold. This place has gone down hill.

VEGETARIANSBEWARE. You can ask for a breakfast burrito without meat, and they might say they can provide it, but that won’t stop there from being stray pieces of ham. I’ve eaten there before without issue(and it is tasty, which is why I’m still giving 2 stars), but anyone who has gone years without eating red meat can tell you that surprise ham can do unspeakable things to a digestive system.

There’s nothing negative I can say about this place. My favorite burritos in the Monterey county, along with the best carne Asada fries. If you’ve never been here, make sure you stop and get something. You won’t be disappointed.

Today I had my fourth negetive experience with Papa Chevos. Not long ago I decided this restaurant was only good for breakfast burritos, and now that has changed. First bad experience was with the shrimp burrito. Basically a tortilla filled with tasteless shrimp. Have these people heard of seasonings or other fillings that complement the shrimp? Shortly after eating the shrimp burrito I got sick. Ended up spending my day at home feeling ill. Second bad experience was the chile relleno burrito. The burrito was sloppy, instantly falling apart. The chile was raw and crunchy. Not sure of many people that enjoy bitting into a raw chile pepper. Burrito had absolutely no flavor. Third experience was with the breakfast burrito I once enjoyed. Apparently they now use frozen French fries instead of potatoes in the breakfast burrito. Or maybe this was only temporary until they got more potatoes. Either way the staff needs to share this information with customers. If I want French fries in my burrito I will order it myself. The fourth bad experience involved service and prices. I ordered the simplest items one can order. Two sides of rice, two sides of beens and a small side of guacamole. It took 15 minutes for someone to scoop rice and beans into a container… These are pre-made items. After receiving my order I realized what a total rip this place is. It cost almost 15.00 for the smallest servings of rice, beans and guacamole I have ever seen. And make sure you specify whole beans or they’ll serve you refried. It is time to move up reservation and try Saritas and/or El Rancho Market.

Place is alright, nothing special. The only thing great is that its open late, perfect for food industry people and people who get out of work late.

This place is open late. Food is decent. But if you’re looking for a badass burrito nearby checkout Mi Tierra in Seaside. The food is good, it satisfies but service is extremely slow even when I’m the ONLY customer there. It shouldn’t take 20 min to make a burrito.

Since I’m an out if towner, it’s been over 6 months since I last came here. Having a sub par taco at the Monterey Papa Chevos, hubs and I made a calculated move to visit this location. Ohhhh, our beloved taco stand did not do us wrong. The ground beef tacos are delicious! The meat was more of a shred, so moist and tender. Seasoned well. The taco was fried just right. They pack a lot of meat. The shred on the lettuce was good. Coincidentally, we had the same cashier from our last visit. Nice fella. To repeat, it’s a no frills taco stand with just 2 outdoor tables and benches.

SOGOOD. Can be pricey, compared to taco shops in San Diego, but DELICIOUS.

So here we are, another taco joint. Sitting off of Del Monte tucked away by itself in a unpretentious building. Growing up in Watsonville and now living in Salinas, Mexican grub is plentiful. So is this place special to me? Naaah. Is it so good that I’d brag about it? Nope. It’s a privately owned shop and a few guys working hard trying to squeeze out a living. The foods OK, I don’t even it’s that great of a deal. There’s two tables outside next to the walk up window or use the drive thru. I like that there open till midnight. That’s right! When you want some Nachos Supreme or a Shrimp Burrito at 11:59 pm this is the only place in town. Last words… open late.

The food is super good. Their adovada burrito is on point. The customer service is garbage; it use to be fine. They’ve hired a few new people, and the last few times I’ve gone, they’re just rude. They don’t repond to a friendly hello or a thanks. I’ll still come for the food, but boy do they need to have a perkier attitude. You can see the hate in their eyes.

I have been going to this place since it opened. I have been a faithful customer for many years. But I have to say, I have seen the prices rise, and food and service decline. The waits are ridiculous and the service is less than friendly. My burrito was smaller than ever was barely hot. If this does not change you will lose me as a customer.

My family settled on Papa Chevo’s when we drove into town around 10 pm last night. The previous couple days of fast food burgers on the road combined with the lack of late night choices in Marina made it an easy choice. After coming upon(through Unilocal) a great little taco truck the night before in Visalia, my hopes were high for Papa Chevo’s as well. We ordered 11 tacos, but only got 10 — normally I would brush that off as a little mistake, but it seems like several other people have experienced the same thing. Among the adovada, carne asada, and carnitas, only the carnitas were memorable. That’s not to say the other meats were bad — only just so-so. The salsas were both tasty(especially the green), but lacking in heat. Each taco comes with pico de gallo and guacamole, which is a big plus and helps to explain the relatively high prices(at $ 2.50-$ 2.75 a taco, Papa Chevo’s is a splurge in comparison to the typical $ 1.50 street taco). The single corn tortilla in each taco is far too weak to hold up against the substantial filling, especially once you add salsa. Everyone struggled to keep his/her tacos together but we ended up resorting to forks to minimize filling droppage. Overall, I wouldn’t mind going back, but only in a pinch if there are no better taco places nearby.

Papa don’t preach… but I’m preaching for you, Papa Chevo’s! This is my go to Mexican restaurant in Marina whenever I crave for Carne Asada Fries. Place may look a bit sketchy at night, but have no fear! Area is safe and offers some seriously good Mexican food with nice employees. I love that it’s open late, fast service, and reasonably price. The quesadillas are pretty bomb too, but I usually order the Carne Asada Fries. The fries are filling and so delicious — guacamole, sour cream, cheese. BERIGHTBACK, DROOLING. I just go through the drive thru since it’s more of an in and out service. It’s simple and perfect for late night cravings and/or drunchies.
