I went to this dentist once because he advertised profusely in the Argonaut. He took one look in my mouth and said I have Gingivitis. What a ridiculous load of BS and an attempt to scare me into much more unnecessary dental procedures.

Where do I start? This place truly deserves zero stars and frankly, should not be in business. I came in for a basic cleaning and waited for over an hour upon arrival. When they finally found time to see me, the equipment was old and dirty. There is nothing worse than a dirty dentist office. On top of that, they tried selling me just about everything possible. Mouth-​guard, deep cleaning, root canals, whitening, etc. I go to the dentist on a regular basis and take care of my teeth so of course I refused. ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER I FOUND OVER $ 5000 WORTH OF FRAUDULENT CHARGES FROM THIS DENTIST ON MY INSURANCE STATEMENT! I have tried out multiple dentists in LA before finding one I truly like. This is by far, the WORST office I have been to. DO NOT GO HERE!

What everyone else who rated him at 1 star says is true and more. There is ZERO patient care, ZERO bedside manner and ZERO flexibility. He is all about business. Might as well be running an auto chop shop. And don’t trust the prices he gives you either. I was given an itemized list for a treatment plan. In black and white. When I went to get the treatment done, they asked me to pay 4500 MORE than the treatment plan said. When I questioned this, they said they had made a mistake and I had to pay it or they would not do the work. Thank God!!! I got out of there as fast as I could.
do yourself a favor. Find a REAL dentist… not some sheister carpet merchant.

Not the best experience at Maxella Dental. Kept waiting for ages and then told I needed a load of work done.
I’d never had any dental problems before then so I went for a second opinion at a place recommended by a friend and was told none of it was necessary.

Office is dirty, Equipment was old. The staff is nothing but gentle or polite. The dentist himself is more of a businessman than a dentist. He gives qoutes, not cares. I am amazed by someone that had received so much bad reviews yet still not seeking for a change. If he is really smart about business, at least pretend to seek for a change. Or the $$$ will be gone because the customer do have a choice where to go!!!

The worst dentist I’ve ever seen anywhere in the country.
He recommended TONS of unneeded work and said they «needed immediate attention»; also recommended Invisalign and I have almost perfectly straight teeth.
Moved from LA and went to a new (proper) dentist and he pointed out all the flaws in Partovy’s work and explained how their work had actually HURT (cracked) a few teeth. Additionally, he did a poor job replacing a silver filling (no pain, purely cosmetic) but left a stained color in the hole of the tooth (my new dentist said it’s unreal they didn’t clean all the stain from the silver filling — new dentist was literally appalled).
RUN!

I wish I had read all these reviews, I wrote an entire rant about the experience and deleted it because it was so angry and full of hate that I can’t post such hate out into the world. I’m so afraid of dentists now. I’m just glad I walked out of there before I got scammed out of thousands of dollars… mind you I have full coverage and for some reason I was still stupid enough to sit there while various nurses and specialists came in one at a time to explain to me different procedures and their costs. This was after I asked them to break it down for me, if I hadn’t asked all the questions that I did, I would be walking around now with a 4000 dollars hole in my pocket and messed up teeth. They chipped my filling during the cleaning, and I now wish they had started with the sales pitch rather than end with it, so that I would have known that they were up to no good…
They wasted 3 hours of my time. I’m glad that was all they did. They also chipped a part of my filling during the cleaning, but apparently it was fine because I need invisalign and a deep cleaning and they don’t know how to pull wisdom teeth or redo a filling so I have to go to a specialist… so wait a sec? Dr. Partovy, are you really a dentist? And why do you have pictures of D-​list celebrities on the wall (calvin klein models and power rangers) instead of diplomas from ucla on the wall…
Next time I see d-​list celebs on the wall of any establishment, I am walking out.
Now I have to go to a new dentist to get my filling looked at, message me Unilocal users if you know any good ones that aren’t fcuked up crooks. I’m so scared of going to a another dentist now, I might just pull my own teeth out if they ever start rotting.
Obviously I haven’t gone into detail exactly everything that happened in that office while I was there, but I hope people have enough sense to ask questions and double check everything if they do decide to try this dentist.
But remember that dentist in little shop of horrors, just know that’s what you’re getting yourself into.
EDIT: my entire mouth was bleeding from all the scraping and poking and prodding after the cleaning, if that doesn’t scare you away, I dunno what will. It hurt for days, I don’t even bleed when I floss, but after that it bled and hurt for days, maybe enough for someone to go back for a deep cleaning? I also got sick afterwards with a cold, probably because nobody in that office uses gloves… I can only imagine… I should have spoken up. argh!!! I need to stop writing this but I’m so mad at myself.

This man is by far the worst dentist that I have ever had. He scammed me out of money and his work was horrible! DO NOT EVER go to this place! I wish that I would have seen these reviews before I entered his office. The office manager is a crook as well.

You wait forever and this dentist is rushed, barely looks at you/​pays attention to you.
Staff is uneducated and rude.

Wow I really wish I would have looked up this dentist before I went to him. Almost every single review is 1 star. I agree with every review that says this guy is a crook. He is ONLY out to make money.
I went to him for a check up and cleaning. First thing they do is put you in the chair and start taking x-​rays so if by chance you leave and never come back they can at least bill the insurance for the bite wings. The girl started taking x-​rays and they put a plastic bag over the thing you bite on and while it was in my mouth a sticker on the plastic bag came off in my mouth. I mentioned it to the girl and she basically shrugged it off. Not an apology, not even a «oh really?» She seemed like she didn’t really care. This is a hygiene issue.
I then get in the chair and Dr. Partovy comes in to greet me. He asked me to open my mouth for him to take a look and immediately he states that I need invisalign braces. He said he will send in his assistance to explain them to me. A girl comes in with a laptop and plops it on my legs and starts going over the procedure and the different kinds of braces with before and after photos. The interesting thing about this is that in all my years of going to dentists since i was a kid, no dentist has ever told me I needed braces until Dr. Partovy. After the demonstration from his assistant, he sends in his «insurance lady» who goes over the cost of everything. She says they will do a deep cleaning for me as the «Dr has recommended this» and my cost will be $ 243.00. I respond by saying «whoooa». She responds «whoooa as in that’s a good thing or…» I said I don’t have that kinda money. I ask her why they can’t just do a basic cleaning. She said «the basic cleaning doesn’t really do much, it’s not much better than brushing your teeth, that’s why the Dr always recommends doing the deep cleaning». I told her that I can’t afford that. I asked her how much the invisalign is going to be. She says $ 3,900. At that point I got up from the chair and started walking out. She followed me out to the lobby and said they have a payment plan. I said I can’t afford to spend $ 243.00 on a cleaning. She said she could probably cut it in half and do everything for $ 120.00. I said honestly I still can’t afford that either.
After being treated like this it really leaves me suspicious about dentists. From the moment you walk in this guy is trying to sell you something and really doesn’t care about your teeth. He’s a salesman not a dentist.

Im grateful for the other reviews. When I went to dr. Partovy he did the «deep cleaning» for $ 900 which I didn’t want or need nor was it really performed. After going back and forth he did remove the charge from my bill.

Worst dentist I have ever seen in my life, I wished I had seen those reviews. Watch out, he has a practice in Tarzana, CA (Tarzana Dental Group). First time I walked out of a doctor’s office.

I love Dr. Partovy. Sure, he’s into aesthetics… so what? He wants people to have a beautiful smile and be willing to invest in it. You CAN say no… and he will still help you get the work you need done… based on your budget. I am completely satisfied and also confident in my choices and know what I can afford and what I cannot. He helped me plus gave a personal touch, such as a follow up call to see how things felt afterwards, which I feel is rare amongst any business these days. Thanks Dr!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! First of all I wished I would have read the reviews before going but thankfully thanks to my boyfriend didn’t have any work done here. First off they quoted me over $ 6000 for work that I never even imagined that I needed. I of course went to a second dentist to get an opinion and I found out I only had one cavity and needed a routine cleaning. DO NOT go to this place it is a scam and goes to show you how they need business if they are sending coupons in the maiil. Stay away from this place they quote you for work that you do not need.

TURN BACK WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
I had the worst experience in this office! Not only is the «Dr.» a crook but his office staff (billing to be more specific) is incompetent and unreliable.
I went to him in February of 2010 for a general teeth cleaning and he told me I needed to buy a bunch of really expensive teeth cleaning materials otherwise i would develop severe gum disease. He said, and I quote «if you only buy some of the items and not all its like trying to bake a cake without all of the ingredients.»
I was also told that i could get on a payment plan since all together my visit came out to be about $ 1,000.00. After filling out a form to see if i «qualified for the payment plan» i relaized what was really going on. The office biiler ran my credit through for a CareCredit account. She said I would have to start making payments for atleast 2 MONTHS.
To my surprise I started recieving bills almost immediately from CareCredit and they had no knowledge of any 2 month agreement. I then proceeded to call his office several times to speak to his office manager/​biller and left messages. To this day (a year later) Im still waiting for a call back.

«Dr.» Patrovy IS A CROOK. DO NOT GO HERE. I went for a «free consultation» and almost walked out paying thousands of dollars. But his CON ARTIST ways were pretty transparent.
God I wish I had read these reviews before going to this QUACK. BELIEVE IT OR NOT so called «DR.» Patrovy IS STILL PRACTICING DENTAL CARE (note date of my review).
First off, his examination of my mouth was extremely lacking. I explained, «My last dentist put on gloves and checked the inside my mouth.» I describe the pain in my right jaw and he tells me to go on a soft diet (liquids) for a week and writes a pain prescription for me. Then he tells me I have pus in my mouth. I screamed WHAT? and he corrected himself and said, «not pus, that’s not the right word — let me go get a mirror.» I jumped out of my chair and ran to the sink mirror. (FIRST TIME I EVER JUMPED OUT OF A DENTAL CHAIR IN MY LIFE.) Turns out my gum had receded a little — there was NO PUS. That just set the tone for the SCAM.
He’s still running his CAR SALESMAN SCAM where he tells me I need Invisilign due to my crowded lower teeth. «It’s not just for cosmetic use, it’s to preserve your gums,» he explained.
So «Dr.» Partovy sends in JOHANNA who gives me the quote for $ 6,500 and within seconds says she could discount it for $ 4,500. I explain that’s a lot of money and she says she will talk to Patrovy to see what they can do if I agree to get Invisilign TODAY. She returns with a $ 3,500 offer. I ask her what will the price be tomorrow and she says $ 4,500. I tell her I HAVE NEVER MADE A $ 3,500 DECISION WITHIN 5 minutes in my ENTIRE LIFE. (I said it calmly — I’m adding caps b/​c that’s how i felt internally.)
JOHANNA must have seen my point, so she offered to throw in a teeth whitening for free (WOW I DIDN’T REALIZE I WANTED THAT) and hold the $ 3,500 offer until tomorrow after I slept on it. As I leave the receptionist tells me it’s $ 95 for the visit. I tell her that’s impossible, this was a free consultation. Patrovy is beckoned and gives me this mumbo jumbo about how it’s for the follow-​up visits and he’s a doctor and he did write a prescription for me. I said «That’s okay — I don’t want your prescription.» His receptionist x’d out the prescription and he removed the $ 95 invoice.
I am planning to submit a FORMAL GRIEVANCE to NUMEROUS organizations. Please, if you’re reading this and have a complaint, i along with some other reviewers encourage you to JOIN US IN FILING A GRIEVANCE. I’m planning to file one to my insurance company, the Better Business Bureau, The American Dental Association, California State Licensing Board, and any other organization I can find. I guess Invisilign may not be interested in my complaint cuz Parkovy is one of their cash cows. Any other suggestions of whom to alert? Please advise.

This guy is a crook. I am amazed he is still in business. I went to him in 2005 for a simple teeth cleaning and was told I need all kinds of work that wasn’t covered by insurance and would have cost thousands. I went to another dentist that was highly recommended and was told my teeth were perfect.
The only reason I am writing this now is because I just got a call from his office asking why I haven’t been in. I remembered the experience so well that I told the lady calling exactly what I thought of this guy. The guy is a scam artist and should have his license revoked. Come to think of it I am going to report him now and all the ADA has to do is check Unilocal for proof! LOL.

amazing how everyone here is saying basically the same thing about this guy… and he still is allowed to continue to practice — like maybe he should be reported, and the ADA hasn’t gotten involved…
I was told that I needed a very expensive (gum cleaning) procedure…

I walked out and made an appointment with another dentist, and was told that the procedure was completely unnecessary…

the digital xray is awsome, you can see your teeth immediately. thank you dr partovy you make going to the dentist easy. Dr. Partovy was so patient and understanding, I had a very comforting first visit with the office. the office was very clean, nice staff. i love my teeth they look very good after going to Dr. partovy’s office.

I would find another dentist and avoid this place.
It is part dental office and part used car sales with a dishonest office manager. My main complaint is with her but she had Dr Partovy’s approval.
I do want to say that the dental techs were very pleasant and courteous and the facility is nice.
My 1^st experience has left me with such a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended!) that I am changing dentists. I did some research and found that his office has received many poor reviews from patients. It is a shame too because had they just been fair with me I would have been a long term patient and I never would have found out about all the issues with Dr Partovy.
I will be making a complaint with my insurance company since their office manager told me one thing, did the absolute oppostite, then denied ever saying it. That was enough for me.
