This experience was terrible. It is causing me to write my first Unilocal review. I went in to see the doctor because they told me I needed to come into the office in order to receive a prescription for my adderall. He immediately treated me like I was some type of criminal trying to get a controlled substance. On his sheet he can see my past history with a doctor he shares an office with that clearly shows I rarely come and get a prescription. Actually I only get it once every three months when you’re supposed to get it every month. OBVIOUSLY NOT ABUSING and more so rarely using. I explained that I really wish I didn’t have to use it but I am very ADHD and a part of an intense start up work environment and needed to get vyvanse (a form of adderall) before I change my insurance which will make the prescription $ 350 bucks as opposed to $ 40. Even after this he considered my urgency as one that acted as a criminal. I’m a broke 26 year old working my ass off. He could clearly see I was a clean cut guy, healthy and well mannered young man. He had an attitude toward me like I was stupid for not understanding the entirety of the system to get adderall. Like I said, I have very rarely ever come and get it so yes I am a little ill informed. In a very pissy manner he happily accepted my 30 dollar co-​pay and insurance and thankfully wrote my a prescription. I never lost my happy thankful attitude.
I go to the pharmacy and now it’s January I find out I need a 2016 pre authorization for the adderall to get faxed to the health care company. I find this out at the pharmacy once they tried to fill it. They fax the doctors office and all they have to do is fax the form to my healthcare provider. I am leaving on a business trip to Utah the next day so I have 24 hours for this 2 minute job to be done. I call the office and beg the front office lady Shauna to please please put this on urgency. To help save me — a paying respectful patient — $ 310 dollars. She seemed to get little kick from hearing my pain and telling me how she doesn’t think it can happen because there is a stack of papers. I then asked, how many people are on the phone begging politely to get this done so I can help out my career and finances. She also tells me I need to pay a $ 15 pre authorization form fee and I have no problem with that. She seems giddy at telling me how this can’t happen. Finally by the end I realized she did try to put it on urgency and the doc still snubbed me. Literally would have taken no more than 5 minutes at the end of the day. He did not seem interested in who I was or how he could help my situation even as I was more than open to explain it all. I will now not get adderall before a crucial and pivotal business week of my life and if I get it on my new insurance it will be $ 350 as opposed to 40.
Also, He had a booger in his nose when he came into my teeny room to spite me. What kind of office is this where someone doesn’t tell the doc this is going on right in front of their face.
GO TO DR. SOBEL if you need a doctor. Right next door to Dr. Rand.

Dr. Rand has been a great doctor for any type of illness or emergency I have had. I appreciate his vast knowledge and patience with me.

Dr Rand was recommended to me by a friend. I easily obtained an appointment to see Dr Rand. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I waited only a few minutes before I was in the examining room. Dr Rand was very professional, thorough, and easy to speak with. His diagnosis of my medical issues were excellent. I believe this is do to his vast experience and knowledge. I highly recommend Dr Rand.

Unfortunately his information on certain conditions is dated, and he is resistant to listen to what the patient may have in terms of updated knowledge/​data. A shame as he’s a personable guy but a bit arrogant.

He is a horrible doctor. I went to his urgent care office with a severely impacted colon. He laughingly said I was «full of shit.» Funny? I think not. Completely unprofessional and uncompassionate to boot. He should have told me to go directly to the emergency room, which I ultimately wound up doing after suffering not only a ridiculous amount of pain, but the indignity of dealing with this jerk of an MD. This happened years ago and to this day, the memory brings back absolute shock re: this doctor’s behavior.
I since found the UCLA urgent care on admiralty in MDR. Much better care/​demeanor and for me, being affiliated with UCLA inspires confidence.

Dr. Rand has been my physician for more than 10 years. When no one else would listen, he did… And he still listens, every time I see him. His staff is incredible, everyone who works there sincerely care about their patients. I can’t say enough about Dr. rand, so I’ll sum it up quickly… He is the World’s greatest physician!

I have to agree. Completely unprofessional. And I was there for over an hour for a refill. Please do yourself a favor and try someone else. Especially if you’re a young girl.

I’ve been going to Dr Rand for several years now, and he is as solid an individual as he is a doctor. I first began going to him in 2003 and have since moved several times, but always make the long trip to Marina del Rey in order to receive the expertise of one of L. A’s most amazing doctors.
His staff is very courteous and professional and the trip from Burbank is well worth it to know my health will be taken care of.

I love Dr. Rand and Sally. I went in once for a walk-​in emergency, and I’ve been going back ever since. They seriously make going to the doctor a light-​hearted, funny experience.
I cannot recommend them enough.

Nice guy, but I’ve found more professional doctors in the area.

In a sea of medical b.s., Dr. Rand is a ray of light. He listens. He cares. He remembers me. He makes me feel better. He doesn’t make me needlessly worry. He’s nice.
I started seeing Dr. Rand after my old doctor (who is also in the same building) pissed me off so completely I refused to see him ever again. Dr. Rand works in the Urgent Care office, so I was able to walk right in and see him. His staff is cool. I told them that I needed to transfer to Dr. Rand and they took care of it all for me. That was really cool of them.
What I like most about Dr. Rand is that same day appointments are not a problem. They are incredibly accomodating and don’t seem to be that behind most of the time. For example, I had to go see him today, I called at 10am, got an 11:15am appt., and was out by 11:45am. Not bad, right?
This review is mostly to say thanks to Dr. Rand for being a really nice doctor in a sea of bad ones. Thanks for caring, doc, I really and truly appreciate it.
