Heleen Robins, MD

Dr. Robins is very capable and a wonderful doctor. Her staff however, tends to be inefficient. Takes a while to make an appointment because they either do not pick up or do not return calls very quickly, or at all. I also keep receiving bills for odd charges (not sure what’s being put into their system), which change with every bill for the same visit date. Even though I’ve called and been told they’d fix it, it’s been over 1.5 years and still nothing was fixed. Another time, I was sick and the staff tried to send me to the ER even though Dr. Robins took care of me easily (antibiotics!) after I got them to set my appointment for the next day.
On another note, no free parking there. Sometimes I just find parking elsewhere and walk over.

I went to see Dr. Robins as my doctor for about 6 years and the reason I stayed was because I liked her straightforward, knowledgeable manner. However, it was very difficult for me to stay with her for those years as her staff is so awful. They are rude, make many mistakes and there are always billing problems. On one occasion I was even sent someone else’s test results! The final straw was that she started charging a «maintenance» amount — not sure that is quite the correct term, whereby one had to pay a large amount of money upfront to be on her list of patients. This would be in addition to the amount normally paid by my insurance company. They also do not even do any blood work there any more. I mentioned to her over the years about her staff being so incompetent and rude but she did nothing about it. So no more.

I have seen Dr. Robins several times and I am 100% satisfied with the care she provides and I find her staff to be efficient, helpful and friendly. Dr. Robins is very knowledgeable, down to earth, friendly and really listens. I feel like I am in very good and capable hands with her as my doctor.
I do dislike having to pay to park but that is my only complaint.

I’ve been in twice. Staff was ok. Dr. Robbins was fine. However, I have since been dealing with a billing mistake (by the office), which has been annoying. Dr. Robins instructed the staff to not charge me for the appointment because she was not able to help me with my request (she even refunded the co-​payment). However, a few months later I received a bill for the appointment. I called and left a message, which was never returned. I then wrote a note on the bill explaining the mistake — and that I had actually not received service that day. I have since received another bill. It has since been paid as I didn’t want to deal with them any more.
Seems like insurance fraud to me. Will not be returning. Cannot recommend.

I don’t really write reviews but my experience was so bad I have to. As the other reviews have stated Dr Robins is fine, it’s her staff that is TERRIBLE. They have no regard for the patients and are so rude. I had an appointment and waited 40 minutes before I just asked for my money back and left. Rather than apologize, they acted annoyed like I was the one who did something wrong. It’s unfortunate as she seems like a great doctor but dealing with her staff is just not worth it.

The staff were straight forward, and I was seen by the doctor within minutes of having finished filling out paperwork (I was a new patient). Dr. Robins was charming and to-​the-​point. I had a routine physical and my appointment was in the morning, which might help if you need to be seen in a timely fashion.

I couldn’t agree more with reviewer Sarah L… Her staff is completely incompetent, rude, untrained, unprofessional. The hold times are a joke especially when the office is one of the slowest doctor’s offices I have ever been too.
A little peek into what my experience was like when I went recently:
I got there with 3 or 4 minutes until my appointment, i checked in and her staff told me to have a seat and wait for the doctor to finish with a patient, so I did.
tick tock,…
about 6 minutes later, the doctor actually came barging through the front door of the office,.(obviously not with a patient). avoided eye contact with me and went directly to the back.
Needless to say; like Doctor, like staff… not going back!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Robins since the late nineties. I can’t recommend her enough. I have not had any issues with her staff and scheduling an appointment is effortless.

I’m a student and needed to see a doctor for a reasonable price. Doctor Robins was extremely nice and had a very friendly rate! The way she talked to me and treated me was very pleasant and patient. She made me feel very comfortable, like she really cared about me and not my money. I will definitely go back. I recommend her to everyone.

Dr. Robins has been my family doctor since I moved here in 2010. Even after moving to the Valley, I kept her as my doctor. She is incredibly patient in answering all my questions, she offers up insight and advice on any issues I’m dealing with, and she’s very friendly and courteous. I’ve had no problems with her staff or their processes and procedures.

My partner and I stopped going to Heleen because her staff is maddeningly incompetent. (She herself is quite a pleasant person and seems to be quite competent, but unfortunately, most of a patient’s interaction with a doctor’s medical practice is with the support staff, and her staff is a nightmare.)
First of all, they call her «Helen», which gives you some immediate insight into their level of intelligence/​attention to their job.
Just a few horror stories from the short time we were patients with her:
–I called her office during normal business hours (and not during lunch), and no one answered, so I left a voicemail saying that I wanted to make an appointment. It was something fairly urgent (no longer remember what for, it’s been so long), and because I never heard back, I ended up having to seek out another doctor’s office who actually answered their phone. Over six months later, I got a call from one of Dr. Robins’ staff members telling me she was returning my call and did I want to go ahead and make my appointment? Yeah, she had just checked the voicemail from six months ago.
–In January 2013, we received a bill from her office saying that my partner owed her $ 220. There was no other information on the bill — no date of service, no info on which doctor had been seen, what the service was for… nothing. It took three emails and four phone calls to extract from them what the bill was for. It was for a physical back in 2009… YES, 2009… that they were just now billing us for.
Don’t waste your time with her office.
