His passion for minimally invasive surgery and the use of the most cutting edge technology has led him to be one of the first surgeon’s in Southern California to perform Single Site Surgery. The elegance of this type of procedure enables a virtual incision free technique in many cases. For Complex Hernias, Dr. Marcus has combined Laparoscopic and ‘open’ procedures to maximize long term results both functionally and cosmetically.

Dr. Marcus helped establish the Robotic Surgical Program at Marina Del Rey Hospital. He believes in using surgical tools that minimize trauma to the body and yield better results than those procedures performed with traditional surgical methods. Dr. Marcus saved my life! I am eternally grateful to him. I almost died & he saved me. If it wasn’t for Dr. Marcus & God watching over me, I wouldn’t be here to write this review. Dr. Marcus and his staff were absolutely outstanding! Going to the doctors always makes me very nervous, but Dr. Marcus and his staff put me at ease before I even arrived for my appointment.
Dr. Marcus was very clear about the treatment I would need (Gallbladder Removal) and explained to me the options I had. I ended up having a robotic surgery and only had one small incision in my belly button. My experience was great both during surgery and after. Dr. Marcus has excellent bedside manner and was very calming for my nerves. I was up walking around the day of my surgery and was feeling back to normal within one week. I only experienced slight soreness around the incision and didn’t even need pain medication.
Additionally, Melissa was so helpful with the financials. I knew well in advance of my surgery what my final costs would be for the surgeon, facility, and anesthesia. She was able to explain to me the pros and cons of going in network vs out of network of my insurance. Nothing came as a surprise during the entire experience.
Thank you so much to Dr. Marcus and his staff for taking such great care of me! This was by far and above my best medical experience.

There’s nothing bad to say about Dr. Marcus. Last month my mom had a severe gallbladder attack that landed us in the hospital ER on the Sunday before the MLK holiday. Dr. Marcus came in and explained what was happening and scheduled us for surgery the next day, which was a holiday. He did a fantastic job with a minimal amount of pain and recovery time, even though my mom is over 80 years old. We are so appreciative and thankful for his care and expertise. Great job Dr. Marcus!

Dr. Marcus is THE BEST!!! Last year I had to have my gallbladder removed and my GP referred me to Dr. Marcus. Last month I had my first routine colonoscopy at 52 and a large, odd shaped polyp was discovered, but could not be removed during the colonoscopy and therefore required surgery. So, almost one year to the date, I was back in the office of Dr. Marcus. He performed both of my surgeries robotically, which I thought was beyond cool! Okay, amazingly skilled surgeon aside… he has a great bedside manner and that is huge to me. He takes the time to explain the procedure and he has a sincere genuineness about him. Lastly, his office staff are awesome. Melissa and Adriana are both professional, organized, and totally on top of it all! For example, I had an insurance issue that required this second surgery to happen asap. I met with Dr. Marcus on Tuesday and my surgery was Friday morning! That’s 2.5 days – Melissa and Adriana are the ones who made all that pre-​op «stuff» happen in time! Thank you, Dr. Marcus and staff for taking such great care of me!!!

I was referred to Dr Marcus from my urologist for a hernia repair. He patiently explained all of the various options he offered and showed me videos to help me in making an informed decision. I opted for the Da Vinci method, a method in which he is a renowned expert, and could not be happier. My surgery was yesterday and I feel really good less then 24 hours later. He believes that I will be back on the tennis court in a few days. Amazing result and a great doc with a great bed side manner. I highly recommend Dr Marcus.

My 25 year old son lives in LA and needed a hernia repair. Unfortunately, I (his mom) live 7 hours away from him so I researched dr Marcus and decided to have him perform the surgery. Matt had an exceptional experience with dr. Marcus. He explained everything on matt’s level and was very reassuring before, during and after the surgery. Dr Marcus has an excellent staff who also made themselves available to us. Dr Marcus was out of network with my insurance but he worked with us. He is excellent. Matt was back to work 4 days after the i inguinal hernia repair and back to surfing exactly 3 weeks after the surgery.

My wife Ana was referred to Dr. Marcus by Dr. Firoz Sheikh, our internist, after suffering a biliary colic attack. At that time we had just moved to the US (we are both Spanish) so we were not too sure how the health system worked here, and what to do if surgery was required.
Dr. Marcus quickly diagnose my wife with gallstones and suggested surgery as soon as possible, to avoid any possible future complication. He explained very well to us the whole process and we automatically felt we were in good hands. Just a few days later, Ana had gallbladder surgery by Dr. Marcus, using minimally invasive state-​of-​the-​art robotic technology that required just one incision in the belly button. Ana could leave the hospital just a few hours after the surgery, and within a few weeks she was fully recovered. She is now eating perfectly and having a normal life.
Dr. Marcus is an outstanding surgeon who really cares about his patients. On one occasion, Ana required a post-​surgery medication while we were out of town on a Friday night and Dr. Marcus kindly personally rang a Pharmacy near where we were staying and we quickly got the drug. We can only recommend him for any general surgeon inquiry you may have.

I was referred to Dr. Marcus by my trusted internist Dr. John Enayati. I had an umbilical hernia and went to Dr. Marcus for a consultation. I met him at his Beverly Hills office and was greeted by his very helpful staff. Dr. Marcus was very thorough and honest about his evaluation. He answered all of my questions and made sure I felt very comfortable about moving forward with surgery. He was very accommodating with scheduling and the surgery was done a few weeks later at St. Joseph’s Providence in Santa Monica.
I’ve never had surgery before, but Dr. Marcus made me feel very comfortable. The surgery went very well without any complications and my recovery was as he described. The follow ups were easy as well. I am now two weeks post surgery and I’m doing great. Dr. Marcus has «great hands» and is a very skilled surgeon, he even showed me video of the robotic laparoscopic procedure that he did. I am a trial lawyer that deals with medical doctors and complicated procedures on a daily basis and can tell you with great confidence that Dr. Marcus is an excellent surgeon. He gets my highest recommendation.
By the way I had no issues with billing and his office. Melissa was very clear and straightforward with the process and there were no «hidden surprises.»

My general practitioner referred me to Dr. Marcus regarding a possible hernia. Dr. Marcus was very professional, and has a lot of skins on the wall to prove his legitimacy. Had he been in network, I would have continued with the surgery.
His assistant, Melissa, however, used deceptive sales tactics to get me to commit to moving forward with Dr. Marcus for my operation. A couple days after meeting with Dr. Marcus, she told me that I, in fact, would be covered under my insurance, and that I would only be liable for the hospital fees under my deductible. She further told me it would not matter if I went with any other doctor in network, since the hospital fees of $ 923.00 would still be applied regardless.
The day before my surgery, she went to collect payment. After giving her my credit card info, I asked how much I was being charged, thinking it was the hospital fees of $ 923.00. She informed me that I would owe $ 1,500.00 to Dr. Marcus, in addition to the $ 923.00 to the hospital! Never did she once mention the $ 1,500.00 amount prior to this discussion.
Be wary of Melissa. She will tell you what you want to hear, and attempt to sneak her way in to get you to commit. She will then vigorously deny she blatantly lied, without apology. She comes off as very professional, but lacks honesty and integrity.

Outstanding surgeon. I ended up in the Marina Del Rey hospital ER a few weeks ago and it was Dr. Marcus who identified a diseased gallbladder. Were it not for his intelligent diagnosis and swift move into surgery, I would have suffered quite a bit given the state it was in. Highly, highly recommended.
