History

Established in 2003.

Lightning Bug Electric was started in 2003 by Tony Blanca. Mr. Blanca received his training in the United States Navy. He served ten years as a Construction Electrician with the Seabees. Tony is no stranger to hard work and long days, all of us here at Lightning Bug Electric share the same values as Tony and you can rest assure that you have found «America’s Brightest Electricians» and hardest working electricians in the Metro Atlanta Area.

When I was younger I use to always take things apart that did not work and try to fix them. I remember one time I took apart a small kitchen appliance to try and figure it out and not knowing any better, I had left it plugged in. Yes, I got shocked, and the rest is history. I am originally from Florida and my grandfather was an electrician and my dad was a painter. I guess I got the electrical bug from my grandfather and the business bug from my parents. My parents had a Painting Business and I can remember all the hard work it took to run a business. I hope that I can continue to run a successful electrical company that will make my Grandfather and Parents Proud.

Love these guys!
I had a list of fixtures needing to be upgraded, my pantry and coat closet were dim, needed an additional floodlight installed and all floodlights moved to LED and we were in serious need of a contractor install repair (a shortcut was taken and we needed a jacuzzi tub moved to its own circuit).
As I have done before, I called Tim at Lightning Bug. He came out, gave me a fair quote and had Leo, Lee and Steve out to address my issues. These guys are friendly and were really good at keeping us informed about what to expect throughout the two-​day process.
I highly recommend these guys — they go above and beyond to make sure they meet all your lighting/​electrical needs. They offer great ideas that really make a difference in your home… I can’t speak highly enough!

Great customer service, same day service, Bobby was very friendly, knowledgeable and honest! He discovered quickly that my problem was with electric company and even called electric company for me to set up an appointment. Won’t hesitate to call again if needed.

Lightning Bug replaced several builder grade lights in our new home with nicer fixtures. Both Bobby and Jeremy were wonderful to deal with, and were quick, polite, knowledgeable, and cleaned up after the work was complete.
They also carefully explained in layman’s terms (simple enough that even I understood!) why lights in one room were flickering, suggested a whole house surge protector, and then gave us a very fair price to do it right then. We did not feel pressured to do so whatsoeverl, but made the decision to go ahead and do it based on their advice.
And may I also say that the lady who answers their phones was really nice and polite. Really a pleasure to deal with a nice «human» who answered the phone, rather than a «press one for» phone system. I felt comfortable as soon as I talked to her. Ya’ll buy ‘Becca lunch or something. She’s like a front-​line super duper saleslady for people dealing with something they are really uncomfortable with.

I had an issue with a ballast and the lights in my kitchen. Bobby assessed the issue and corrected but unfortunately, the next day the light would not come on. It turns out the bulb cracked either on its own or through some type of a surge. It was really ODD because I know that everything was working just fine the day before. Anyway, he came right back and fixed ballast and bulb again. No problems no hassles. I would definitely call Lightning Bug again.

We had great service from the crew. We are working on a house in one state while living in another. This organization has a scheduler who confirms appointments in advance. No wondering if they will show up. They do. They spent all day doing the list of jobs we had. They showed and explained as necessary. Highly recommend.

Bobby & Jaison were extremely knowledgeable and professional. They arrived on time, showed me the work that needed to be done, and explained everything in great detail. I have had an overall positive experience with Lightning Bug. There was a time when they were taking a while to get back to me or non-​responsive and after being frustrated by it I called the office to get through to them. That was the better move. I do my best not to call the techs themselves when possible about scheduling appointments now. When they come by they always make it up to me by giving me a great price and/​or doing the work extra speedy for me. Thank you to Tim, Dwayne, Leo, James, & Steve!

I am very disappointed with this company.
They came to our home on a Friday to look over the job and were very professional and polite. Unfortunately, the service ended there.
They told us that they would call the following Monday with a quote. When we did not here back, my husband called on Tuesday to check up on things. He was told that they had to look into the price of materials.
It has been two weeks now, and we still do not have a quote. We have not even had a call to explain the delay or to say that they cannot take the job. Even if there is a reasonable explanation, I cannot see one for the lack of communication.

I had the misfortune of having a few outlets short out in my condo. I called and made an appointment with Lightening Bug and boy am I glad I did. Kevin came out and very quickly diagnosed my issue. He discovered and solved the problem in under an hour! Not only was Kevin very professional and knowledgeable, he was also very polite and thoroughly explained everything. I also received a fair price. I will use Lightening Bug in the future for all of my electrical issues in the future. I will also specifically request Kevin.

Making my 1960’s home safer. These pros just finished 3 days of work in my home: a whole panel swap-​out, whole home surge protector, under cabinet lights, fan light kit, kitchen flush mount ceiling lights, and gfci outlets. 100% of the work was top notch. They communicated well, were courteous, and kept all work areas clean. The same crew, James and Steven, completed all 3 days work and were consistently knowledgeable. Best part: the bill came in at less than the estimate. My search is over.

I have dealt with many electricians in the past and I can say with 100% certainty that Tony has the best trained crew in all of Cobb county. Put away those coupons from other companies and stop looking for the cheapest in town. Go with the best, forget the rest! Great Job Lightning bug!

I thought Lightningbug Electric was great. He was here for five hours; he found a lot of terrible wiring problems done by amateurs in our 40-​year-​old house; and I could not have asked for anything better! The fee was much less than we expected.

My husband and I had many smaller electrical projects that needed professionals ranging from hanging a light in a kitchen to installing a ceiling fan to putting in a new socket. From the moment Michael and Steven walked in, I knew we were in good, experienced hands. They were prompt, completely professional and knowledgeable. They were gracious about questions we had and recommended not only the most cost effective way to do things but the way to DO THEM RIGHT. I could not have been more impressed and pleased with the service and am already planning to have them back for a few more projects. Quit looking for an electrician and CALL LIGHTNING BUG. Best electricians I have ever used. They aren’t «cheap» — however — you get what you pay for, and electrical work in my home is not something I personally want to do on the cheap, amiright?

These guys were great! Very friendly on the phone and were able to come to the house in a couple of hours.
The tech was very honest and even though it ended up costing quite a bit (for a whole new breaker panel) I could tell he wasn’t just trying take me for a ride. Absolutely no sales pitch at all.
Very friendly and willing to walk me through what was going on and how he was fixing it. It was a little unnerving to learn how badly the old breaker panel had been set up but was awesome to know it was being done correctly this time.
Would definitely recommend this company.

I had a minor «incident» when I tried to install a programmable thermostat myself, and needed a professional to fix what I broke (on a Friday night, in 90 degree heat). I needed an emergency repair and I found Ligthning Bug immediately online and gave them a call. Within the hour, I had an appointment and a technican on his way. Michael (my tech) was friendly, courteous and professional. I greatly appreciated their service and would definitely use Lightning Bug again.

I was also worried about calling a repair companY in Atlanta. We had preciously has a small plumbing issue, and in spite of checking with Unilocal and other sources, we had been seriously over-​charged –by at least $ 100 –and forced to wait all day too. I was very nervous about the ethics of Atlanta’s repair people to say the least!
As my situation was serious; I had to call in someone. I decided on Lightening Bug. From the start the service was great. The phone receptionist, Alison was profession and kind, as was their service manager. They sent an electrician to my home right away, even tough it was a Friday night. The electrician, Kevin was helpful, polite, and professional. He got my power safely reinstated for my dinner party the next night –even though we to wait for parts for the full repair. Kevin returned on the weekend to fix a slight problem –at no charge. He even left his personal cell number so if I had a problem I could call him directly as he knew we were having guests.
They gave us a complete estimate to replace our panel. They explained the estimate and did not inflate the costs. The work was done in timely and professional manner. My husband and I highly recommend this company as they are honest and professional, and go above and beyond in customer service.
