Varney’s is a locally owned and operated retail store that has been serving K-​Staters since 1890, and for most of that time in historic Aggieville in Manhattan, KS.

We are the world’s largest retailer of K-​State apparel, gifts, and souvenirs. Varney’s is the one stop shop for textbooks, textbook rentals, digital textbooks, school and art supplies. Support Kansas State University and the K-​State fan by shopping at Varney’s. We are K-​State.

Varney’s Book Store was founded in 1890 to sell textbooks for Kansas State University. Jon began working at the store in the 1960’s with owner Ted Varney in the textbooks department and went on to purchase the store from Ted in the 1980’s. He expanded the store into the Campus Theater after it shut down and had the legendary Varney’s marquee constructed in Aggieville. Jon’s sons now manage the store keeping Varney’s alive as the «Official Outfitter of the K-​State Fan.»
