Description

Specialties

The Possibility Practice is a way to help you with whatever is bothering you, and develop the tools to create your life. How? By creating a conversation with a caring and skilled therapist, with whom you can discover and develop new ways of thinking, seeing and being, that allow you to feel and get better, and transform your emotional pain and struggle into something new, full of possibility.

We provide short-term therapy with individuals and couples, ongoing group therapy, and executive coaching.

We see individuals on a short-term basis. For people who want to continue, we offer group therapy. So many of us are accustomed to developing physically by working out in a gym. What if you could do the same for your emotional well-being? Group therapy at The Possibility Practice is an activity that enables people to develop their emotional muscles, and ability to create their lives.

Group therapy is the gem of The Possibility Practice. Groups — whether two people or twenty-five — make growth possible. The interplay between and among people creates exponential possibilities for who you can become. Group therapy at The Possibility Practice is a challenging, creative activity that enables you to learn about, and develop who you are — in relation to others.

Use The Possibility Practice to create something new with all that you have: anxiety, depression, or anger, a painful relationship, health problems or the death of a loved one, or just wanting to develop and grow.

History

Established in 2007.

The Possibility Practice was founded in 2007 by Karen Steinberg LCSW, a therapist and executive coach, practicing for over twenty years. A progressive thinker who brings intelligence, intimacy and creativity to her work, Karen helps people transform their lives. Karen believes that in order to change one’s life (and the world) we have to work with others to create the change, to create a new paradigm for relating. She started The Possibility Practice on this premise.

In 1990, dissatisfied with the existing tools for emotional and social transformation and their results, Karen focused on developing a progressive, postmodern approach to therapy, and human development.

Karen trains and supervises therapists, and provides therapy and coaching to:

— Individuals, couples and groups

— Wall Street executives and entrepreneurs

— Artists

— Non-profit leaders

— Community-based organizations

The Possibility Practice is humanistic, effective and available to all.

Business Owner

I love helping people to transform their lives into something of their own making, and beyond what they thought possible. People often come to therapy looking for help to overcome feeling powerless, in pain, and unable to impact their circumstances.

It is an incredible privilege to help people to learn how to take what there is — often not so pretty or easy to work with — and use it to grow and to discover new ways of being, new ways of seeing, and the skills to do that all the time, with whatever comes their way.

As a psychotherapist and coach, I love helping people to develop those emotional muscles, and to create space for using them in their lives. It is the cure for what ails them. Growth and development is what mental health, and living a joyous human life is all about. The Possibility Practice enables people to grow, and to feel and get better. I love that.
