BEWARE OF RENTING ANYTHING FROM TERRAIN HOUSING… I have sublet through Craigs list all over the world and smooth-​talking schmoozer Sean screwed us to the max! First of all when I enquired about the sublet in Soho after seeing the beautiful photo on the ad, he informed me that it was under repair but had a comparable flat in a nice area on the Upper East Side. We made the transaction through paypal so I felt somewhat secure that this guy was on the up and up.
When I called him upon arrival into NY, he then informed me that there was a problem with his software and we were unable to have the apt for the full 3 nights… red flag #1!!! Then he was unable to meet us and we were to meet «Mario», the owner and he would meet up with us later. rf#2!
When Mario took us to the apt, he informed me that the rental agreement was only for 2 nights from the start and that Sean knew this right off the bat!
When we saw the apt we were absolutely flabbergasted! It was atrocious! I wouldn’t put my dog into that place. It was sooo old, stark, dank, stuffy, definitely not «comparable» as Sean had promised! I called Sean who then smooth talked his way through lies of excuses.
To make a long story short, Sean hung us out to dry. He had us over a barrel with our paritial payment through paypal.
We rolled with it… found another place to stay and chocked this up to experience.
Shame on Sean. I don’t know how people think they can go through life this way and it won’t come back and bite them. There are principles to live by in life and if one thinks he can escape the consequences he’s wrong. Let’s check in with Sean toward the end of his life and see how it all worked out for him…
